Greetings fellow creakers ! I have a 2005 MK2 Ghia purchased March last year. I had the creaking from day one and have cured it by rubbing silicone grease on the seals. The seal in question is the one at the VERY TOP of the outer door frame where it touches the body in the door aperture. ALAS...... it comes back again, so it is not a long term cure. I also have a tinny rattle from behind the radio area ( Like a cable noise), also a frightening rapping noise between 65 and 75 mph. that comes through the dash at screen level. Thanks for that info Sinister. I have been waiting for two weeks now, re parts for boot catch repair ! Phoning today for an update. I am beginning to lose faith with the dealership, as well as the car :( I think the noise to my right is the door catches. Will persue that with dealer. Thanks for your help. Mister M.

Not sure whether this is relevant but this is a problem on the C-Max too. Problem was a faulty seal on the microswitch in the boot release which let in water and caused corroded contacts, and Ford have a replacement for it. There's a TSB for it. You can also fix it yourself if you're feeling a bit adventurous, which is what I did.Re self unlocking Focus...Car was in with dealer a full day and they didn't cure it. They said Ford only knew about the C-max, ( As you mention, thanks. )They are now ordering a boot catch to see if it cures the problem. They never even got to look at the other fault

Taking the car in next Tue, so it will be interesting to see what they come up with, re these faults. :?

1.6 Ti-VCT Ghia. Bought new March 05. First new car and big moment for me.... I have had a quick look through your forum and already identify many faults I have experienced. 1. Rapping noise through screen at speed ( 65 - 75 mph ) ?? Nasty ! 2. Creak from top door rubbers. ( Temp Cured by silicone ! ) 3. Radio clock loses time and loss of signal on Radio 2. Changed radio, but still same faults. 4. Clunk sound from o/s door pillar area. ??? Forwards, rearwards, and cornering. Almost pendulum like ? 5. Rear doors bounce when closed. None adjustable on striker plate !!! Can you believe that ?
