  1. I agree, read my review. Very annoying considering it a speed that you are likely to forced to cruide at! http://www.ffoc.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.p ... highlight=
  2. No sooner said than implemented on the new Focus too:  read this http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/road_tests/index.htm?id=154
  3. Sooty variable geometry turbo disease is what could happen. See http://www.technologie-entwicklung.de/G ... turbo.html if you fancy tackling it yourself.! Petrol or Diesel? One thing to bear in mind with modern common rail diesels, like the C-Max, is that, they're a bit like the performance cars of the '60's - Everything has to be spot on for them to work properly. They are very very very much more complicated than the contemporary petrol engine hence the cost premium. This state of the art technology is pushing components to their limits. The technology has progressed faster than
  4. What difference is there buying from motorpoint? - as long as it's a UK car (which it will be buying second user) you'll get the balance of the three years warranty from the dealer of your choice... the extra £1000 goes straight to the main stealer's pocket.
  5. Yes you are right - motorpoint are selling 8 month old C-Max 2.0 TDCI zetec for 10995 and 1.6TDCi for 10599! The price you were offered sounds generous! The petrol versions? 1.8 Zetec 8995
  6. No this is not a flat spot. It is a resonance effect. I noticed this when I test drove the 1.6TDCi here: http://www.ffoc.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=51454 You will notice as the engine revs up through this problem band the engine note appears to get louder and quitens off as it passes through it. The 1.6 TDCI appears to suffer from power loss when the engine drops back to limp home mode (no power) occasionally. French C-Max users (see www.passion-focus.com) have documented this well and say even the latest B33 s/w update does not solve it
  7. Thanks for the info. Fuel economy seems to cary greatly depending on whether you live in Greece or Lancashire! Would you say that the hesistation thing is a mjor concern? IE Could it cause you to get stuck in the oncoming path of an heavy goods vehicle on a roundabout or would you say that its a minor annoyance, and the car picks up pretty soon after it's 1st hiccup? What I would like to know is why Ford replaced the 120PS engine with the 125PS engine? What is the difference? Was there a bug with the 120PS?
  8. Got the chance of a keen deal on an 8 month old 1.8 Zetec but I'd like some real life figures please? I suspect I would average around 29  around town, shopping etc & perhaps 36/37 :? Motorway? Realistic? Sorry one other question, has there been a fix for the hesitation from rest with the 1.8 Duratec HE? Anybody experienced this one?
  9. Went for a test drive in a 1.6TDCi Ghia recenty and this is my opinion of the car based on initial impressions: Practicality: The C-Max is no Mondeo for boot space but we tried our big Graco pram in it and looks like it would happily take a couple of suitcases as well as a few trinkets. If sheer size of storage space is your No1 priority then the mondeo wins the prize as it is effectively the same price. We thought the ability to remove the odd seat in the C-Max would score highly here though. I was quite surpised that once a toddler car seat was fitted, the space available in the centre se
  10. A very rough and amusing translation follows: The new motor Duratorq TDCi 1,6 liters of 90 ps is the last fruit of the agreement between Ford Motor Company and PSA Peugeot Citroën on the development of the diesel. The motor 1,6 liters TDCi already powers the Focus c-max and the new Focus. But this new version of 90 ch specially was developed for the model Fiesta. His principal characteristic lies in a bend flat torq synonyme of good performances, without negative incidence on the consumption or the noise. The motor 1,6 TDCi is completely in aluminum and has system injection diesel to commo
  11. Saw a bit of discussion on this on the French site then found this: http://www.ford-beziers.com/cmax.php?CO ... EUR=orange Look in the "Nouvelles Options" (New options) section then "Motorisations": Think this is also the engine destined for the Fiesta. (based on the current 109 PS) Doubt we'll get it though. Bit too slow for us perhaps??
  12. How much extra space does sliding the rear seats back give u? 10cm? Presumably, you can remove the middle seat if you want to reclaim some boot space? Ta
  13. Without actually fitting our (forward facing 6months to 4 years) carseat to the dealership C-Max, I'm a little concerned that, after doing some quick measuring up with the front seats positioned where we might normally have them, there would still appear to be the risk of getting a good kicking from an active 2 year old! Our fiesta is especially bad for that - she can almost kick the headrest due to the "raised up" nature of the toddler seat. I guess that the clever slide 'em back facility in the zetec/ghia gives you a bit more space (How much more??). What are your experiences of this problem
  14. Hey Guys - New variable valve timing petrol has appeared on the Ford Website for the C_max (From the new Focus I think) Appears to offer better performance than exixting 1.6 AND better economy! 1.6 Duratec Stage IVStudio, LX, Zetec 8.9 (31.7)5.7 (49.6) 6.9 (40.9) 107 12.9 1.6 Duratec Ti-VCT Stage IV LX, Zetec 8.9 (31.7) 5.3 (53.3) 6.6 (42.8) 109 11.9 (0-60) Wonder when we will see it in the shops? :? Who's gonna be the unpaid development guy for this one? I wonder if it's based on the 1.7 in the Puma?
  15. That's great, thanks for looking - I though it was good for my 1.25 fiesta @ 100Mls/ 10 years but the TDCi takes some beating. Should last the life of the engine! :D
