  1. Hahahahahaha! That makes me feel a lot better. As long as I'm not the only one!
  2. Hi Guys! Thanks for the advice. I should've been a bit more patient before bothering you lot - I had another look this evening after it got dark and they were no longer illuminated. Phew! So now I know that they go off somewhere between 5 minutes and 48 hours after turning off the engine  I don't think I'll be investigating any further for a while as the neighbours have been coming out to see who's peering inside one of the cars parked in the street.
  3. Nope, the roof lining light goes off after a while, but the message centre stays illuminated. I think it was still alight the next morning, but it was a little difficult to see in daylight.
  4. This might be a silly question, but I'm going to ask it anyway. I've only had my C-Max for a couple of weeks or so, and the other night I noticed that when I turned off the engine the message centre/trip computer and the clock on the stereo stayed illuminated. This doesn't seem right as it's quite noticeable from outside the car when it's dark. but I'm not sure whether it's always done it and I just haven't noticed it before. I can't find anything in the handbook that says whether it should stay lit or not. Does anyone know if it's supposed to stay lit up, or is it something I should ge
  5. My hubby never puts the handbrake on properly either, so perhaps it's a good thing after all (and he hasn't got the excuse of being diddy!) Might see you zooming around Sevenoaks one of these days :) Yeah, I got mine for grown-up reasons. It's sad, isn't it
  6. Picked up my 2L ink blue C-Max Ghia yesterday and it's bloody brilliant!! :D Nothing's wrong with it yet (touch wood). The passenger vanity mirror wasn't working when I went to collect the car, but the dealer fixed that straight away. It's wonderful to drive and very luxurious-feeling. I miss the sportiness of the old Fiesta, but on balance I wouldn't take it back. I took the C-Max for a run yesterday and it tackled Westerham Hill like a dream, even though I was stuck behind a granny all the way up. Not sure I like the electronic parking brake, though. It's either on or off and tak
  7. No offence taken, I assure you :) I didn't really check out any C-Max competition. I'd been dreaming of a new Focus (not C-Max) for a while when my domestic circumstances changed suddenly and I needed to make a decision fast. The C-Max seemed the obvious choice to go for as I already knew the Focus and Fiesta. I took one for a test drive and was very impressed so didn't delay making a decision by looking into other options. It wasn't the ideal way to go about choosing a car, I admit, but I'm pretty happy with my decision nonetheless.
  8. Well, he's already the kind of dealer who rings you fourteen times a day if he wants something from you, but as soon as you need him he's nowhere to be found! :x Really? Well, probably unlike the rest of you boy racers :o I chose the C-Max for purely practical reasons - I've got an elderly mother and handicapped sister I have to take around. The fact that it feels bloody good when you put your foot down has absolutely nothing to do with my decision! Then again, perhaps I'm compensating for my husband who drives a Fiesta which I always thought of as a girl's car. (Is it my
  9. Just wanted to second that, Jakx! I've found this forum absolutely invaluable. I should be picking up my C-Max on Wednesday or Thursday next week, and I feel I'm now armed with enough information to hold my own with the dealer should I have any problems. (Although I haven't had any so far, thankfully.) Keep up the good work, people. Some of the info is a bit over my head at the moment, but I hope to catch up with you one day!
  10. I've got the perfect solution for creaks and squeaks - turn up the radio! OK, I know it's an oldie, but they're often the best. :)
  11. As this is the first time I've bought a brand new car I didn't have any reason to think this unusual. I thought it was just typical of the kind of scam big companies get up to. A mass protest might be a good idea. Stop the idea spreading to other manufacturers. I'm having to pay seventy quid for a spare for my husband!
  12. Oooh, you're making me all excited about getting mine in a couple of weeks. Can't wait! :D Mine's ink blue with privacy glass too, but it's a 2 litre Ghia :P My extra key's costing me £70 though :bad-words: Glad you're pleased with your purchase.
  13. When I test drove a C-Max I mentioned to my dealer that I hadn't seen many on the roads. He said that other people had made the same comment, and also about the Ford Fusion. He said that he sells loads of both cars (although he would, wouldn't he), so he couldn't explain why so few were seen out and about. Maybe there are plenty around but they don't draw attention to themselves as they're not driven by complete a***holes! :o
  14. Thanks guys! Useful stuff. This is the first NEW car I've ever bought and I'm finding the experience a bit bewildering  I'm also only a girl and while attitudes to women in car dealerships have improved over the years it's still not ideal, even if you can reel off a bunch of jargon to the salesman. Although I suspect I gave myself away when I asked if torque was the same thing as "oomph"! As for the petrol option, I was sorely tempted by the diesel, but I do very low mileage and I didn't think it would be worth it. I don't think it would've enhanced my trips to Somerfi
  15. I'm in the process of buying a 2 litre C-Max Ghia (petrol engine) and having just discovered this website I'm a bit worried about my choice. Most of the complaints seem to be about the deisel version. What do people think of the petrol C-Max? Have I made the right decision or should I ring up the garage to cancel my order? :?
