  1. Hi Matt The rear noise whine is in addition to the front resonance noise. I think the resonance is just harmonics which would probably be difficult to pin down. Regards Bruce
  2. Hi Matt I've got a 53 2ltr TDCI with 40,000 miles and it makes the same noise you're describing but at 1500 revs. It's only a resonance noise and a slight increase or decrease in revs gets rid of it. I've had mine for about 3 months now and it doesn't bother me much, I find I automatically avoid sticking at 1500 revs. The noise I notice is a sort of low whine from the back which, if it had a rear axle I would suspect was the diff. Once again doesn't sound like a serious fault just a bit annoying. Do you get that noise? Regards Bruce
  3. Hi I've only had my 53 TDCI 38,000 miles a month and it's the first diesel I've had but it does seem noisy compared to other diesels I hear when I'm on foot. It's brilliant on economy getting up to 60 mpg on one trip recently when I was driving very light footed but I still think that's good. Ticking over when warm it sounds fine but like a tractor when cold, and any acceleration produces a very loud harsh chatter, and it's not always an even sound almost as if something's loose. I did ask the dealer to check it out but they said it was okay. Am I being unrealistic on this? Bruce
  4. Hi Barry I've got the same Sony and the same problem which only started a month after getting the car (53 2.0 TDCI), and also noted the date could be reset. No idea where it displays though, and as I've got the RDS switched on the clock corrects itself within a couple of minutes so I'm not bothering to get it fixed at the moment. Bruce
  5. Hi All Thanks for all your comments. I take your point robertminchin. It's just out of manufacturers warranty, but I've spoken to the dealer and as I bought the car only a month ago they're going to sort it no charge. They seemed to think it's a contact problem, but if not, replace the screen. I'll let you know. Whilst chatting, I know there's been a lot of comment on poor MPG. I travelled back from Reading to Stevenage (65 miles) on the M4 and M25 at peak time and the average meter showed 62 MPG (speeds from 10 to 70 mph, light touch on throttle and 5th / 6th gear as much as possible). 6. Hi wfitzy Thanks for your input. Obviously I have a similar problem to the one you had although I was hoping a contact had come adrift. Unfortunately my car is out of manufacturers warranty but as I've only had the car 1 month I'm going to slog it out with the dealer as being faulty when I purchased the car as this was the first time I'd tried it. Otherwise it's a £400 bill for a new screen. Thanks again for your input. Bruce
  7. Hi Gang When I used the heat screen function this morning the passenger half was completely clear and the driver side still steamed up. It was exactly half the screen with a straight vertical line separating where it was woking and where it wasn't. I was wondering if the screen had a separate connector on each side. Just seemed a bit weird. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Regards Bruce :?
  8. Hi Just joined and find this forum really useful as a new owner of a 03 2.0 TDCI Ghia. 38,000 miles. I've only had it a week and I really like the car, but I hate the electronic hand brake. Mine won't release when you slip the clutch prior to release on a hill start. I have to go back into neutral, depress the clutch before pressing the handbrake switch. That means holding the car on the footbrake and moving quickly to the accelerator, with the resultant roll back. I feel like a learner again. This can't be right can it? Is this a known fault and is it remedied by software updates. I'd re
