  1. Finally after 2.5 years of creaks and rattles driving me mad for 35,000 miles The 2.0TDCi Ghia has been sold. Yipeee! :D Hopefully another Ford will not darken my drive again. The only good things I would say for it was the engine (Ave 50MPG) and the Sony MP3 player. Neither of which are manufactured by Ford. Good Luck to everyone on the Forum with a MAX
  2. Thanks for the advice. I'll add it to the ever increasing list of issues for the 25,000 mile service. from the Rattle Wagon
  3. Apart from all the many (and very, very anoying) squeeks and rattles which after 23,000 miles are still not fixed :( another problem has started.......... About four times recently have gone to use the car and noticed that the clock has reset to 12:00 and some date in 2004. Unit is the Sony MP3 (not the autochanger one) which up until now was the only one of two saving graces of the whole car (the other is the engine 2.0 TDCi - brill) Any idea anyone. Thanks from the Rattle Wagon's (as the family now know it) Owner
  4. This has always been a mystery to me. I'm sure the DVLA must wear funny coloured glasses or look at cars in the dark! Yes our C-Max Tonic is down as Silver and our Focus Zetec Moondust Silver as .......... GREY :? If PC Plod were to ask me what the colour was it would be Blue and Silver respectively! Wonder what that nice :( Flare colour (Not Available in the UK Thank God) would be called? There is at least one in the UK as I have seen it. Yuk Yuk Yuk. Had a Trade Sales sticker in the back .................
  5. Not been under the bonnet yet so just checked mine, due for the 1,500 on Monday and has been sat on the drive since Tuesday. Was fully in and 2/3 full on the first extract of the dip stick, cleaned off and the same on the second dip. One thing I noticed was the coolant was below the MIN line  had some in the garage and topped it up (better not risk it as its 80 odd degrees outside!). I will be asking for a replacement bottle on Monday  I'll let you know how I get on...........
  6. Some more accurate analysis is now available: C-Max Ghia 2.0TDCi (Stage III) with 1,300 miles on the clock. Just filled up and did 395 miles on 43 litres which by my calculations is nearly 42 mpg. This was mixed motorway / A-road / Town / country road driving. I hope this will improve once the engines run in a bit. (May also get better once the loose trim is fixed, which must be acting as a bit of a wind-break by the noise it makes!) This tank also included a trip through the Cotswold's last weekend which did include some brisk overtaking and a foot down hill climb (in 3rd) up Fish Hil
  7. I have also tried the 'prod' test on the top of the doors and this does seem to be the problem with mine too. The passenger door is worse than the driver when applying the same pressure. It's due back for its 1,500 check in just over a week so will see what the dealer has to say....... :? I'll keep you updated.....................
  8. As promised pictures of the problem trim on the front passenger door. You can see the paint between the rubber and the plastic trim, the gap is causing the wind noise.
  9. Yes I have this one but only when reversing on to the drive which is a slight slope up and then down the pavement (proper dropped kerb) there is a ‘creaking’ from the Near Side. It almost sounds as if the chassis is flexing !??? I do drive on some fairly undulating roads (Oxford Northern Bypass – East Bound [Rock and Roll!] 70mph) and over the dreaded speed humps (30mph’ish) which litter Oxford and can’t hear it at these speeds ….. very odd. I will mention it to the dealer at the 1500 mile checkup.
  10. Hello, Just to wade in to the Aux debate I have the single disk Sony unit which has a CD/Aux option on it. I had a look in the glove box and yes there is an Aux socket. I have attached some photos (its the white round item in the top left hand corner) Hope this is useful.
  11. Hi again, Thanks to everyone who suggested the way to change the degrees F to C on the temperature guage and the DEATC but still leave MPH on the Computer. It worked a treat :D I will post more MPG figures when I have them. The computer is still showing 44MPG even after some foot down hill climbs in the Cotswolds over the weekend, and a bit of brisk overtaking here and there 8) Will report on progress with other niggles soon and will try and post some photos of the loose trim when I get a mo.
  12. Hi Ron, I've done around 1000 miles in the same car as yours and its averaging around 45mpg according to the computer (mix of motorway, country A-Roads and around town). Have had it up to 49mpg at one point! Didn't make 50 :( I am going to analyse it a bit further so will post my results. One question is yours a Stage III or Stage IV? Mine is a III as I'm not involved with Company Car TAX, also the IV was more expensive and I noticed the IV had poorer fuel consumption in the official figures. How old is your car and does yours have the dreaded flat spot? If not I wonder if there i
  13. Hello to the C-Max forum ……….. Took delivery 2 weeks ago of 2.0TDCi (Stage III) Ghia with optional Sony MP3 Player (No Auto-Changer), DETAC and Front and Rear parking sensors. Car was a factory build but turned up over 1 week early but with no ford paperwork (V55 etc). Car sat at the dealer for 2 weeks (I looked at it, sat in it but could not have it :( ), still no paperwork; finally the salesman drove to Ford HQ at Bristol, banged some heads together and then drove to the DVLA to get it registered. Have now done 950 miles and according to the fuel computer its doing 45mpg, the fuel ga
