  1. Don't know if anyone else has posted the details - I made a quick check & didn't see anything - so here's the TSB info on the fix. (Thanks to the person who pointed this one out! ;)) -------------------------------------------------------- TSB No.: 41/2004 Date: 13/07/04 Title: Instrument cluster and audio unit calibration update ---------------------------------------- Should a customer express concern that either the low fuel warning lamp is illuminated, along with a 'LOW FUEL' warning message and a beep, directly after ignition on and engine not running, contrary to the fuel gauge read
  2. The VW badge on the steering wheel should be a giveaway - that's the inside of a Touareg, one without any of the more expensive trim options. Nokia image: http://www.nokia.co.uk/BaseProject/Site ... 0main3.jpg A shot of the Touareg: http://199.239.248.45/images/stk/2004/v ... ureg02.jpg
  3. CAN/CANbus are the same thing - 'Controller Area Network' - basically an in-vehicle robust networking system that provides datalinks between different components e.g. sensors, PCM, instrument cluster, airbag systems and so on for exchange of operating parameters & control data. It comes in different flavours and speeds depending on application. Haven't looked at the C-Max cc system, the CAN link is either going to be to the PCM for engine control, or to the instrument cluster to put the cc indicators on, or maybe both! Or maybe just to move data between cc components?
  4. Do you even need a software update? The mechanical type cruise control is usually completely independent, just a plug and play job.
  5. You sure it's not just a changeover from Euro3 to Euro4 standard, or something along those lines? The calibration already on the car would have been proven for emissions etc. prior to release. It's possible something like the smoke limit was set too high (which could mean more power but an emissions fail) but I can't see that would get past QA?
  6. What a joke. And it gets worse when you think who owns that dealer group, you'd think it'd be the one that'd definitely do things properly. Best try somewhere else, not that any of the others in that bit of the world are likely to be much better...
  7. Never checked the speed cutoff, but if you do decide to apply the electric handbrake at speed it does a controlled stop. Personally, I'd prefer to put my faith in a good old lever & bit of steel cable, much less to go wrong!
  8. I'm not sure if the Galaxy side repeaters will fit - though as far as I know the Galxy ones are a VAG design so try robbing the identical part off a Golf to see if those work!
  9. Also cehck the door alignment with the rest of the car - it doesn't take much (1mm) to cause excessive wind noise. The window or door seal explanations are also possible. The other thing to try is a comparitive test drive with another C-Max - the dealer should have at least one available, and it might prove it it's a fault or a 'characteristic', and if it's the former it should prove it to the dealership.
