  1. Silly me, giving advise with my post midday beer goggles on a Sunday afternoon, you're right the aspect ratio is a % of the width. The width is still a key factor as the rim is only designed to take a specific width and go over or under this size the you'll get uneven tyre wear and possibly unusual/dangerous handling traits - best stick to the recommended size as this will keep you safe and more to the point alive.
  2. The answer you are looking for is a NO. 214 is the tyre width and 45 is the depth, by putting too wider a tyre on the rim this will cause uneven wear and may also affect the driving characteristics of the car (not to mention invalidate your road insurance - possibly?)so, most would probably say stick to the standard size recommended.
  3. Do you ever find yourself looking back at your car and wondering when the clock and dash display will go out (even though you know they will after 10mins). It's a bit like the light in a fridge, perhaps Ford did it that way to make us all paranoid or, could it be a bit of marketing spin - the usual thing of locking the car and taking an admiring glance back at the car type scenario (apart from in our case take a glance back to see if the display lights have gone off!!).
  4. Should be okay if it's an ex Mobility car (just purchased one myself 6 months ago 2004 1.8 Ghia). Mobility cars have to be regularly servived by a main agent and all parts and repairs will usually be done using parts form the manufacturer so, all being well it should be sound. Given the age of the car and mileage it should be fine, usual checks on tyres (make on each corner should be the same), brakes for wear, apart from that not much else. One thing I noted with mine are a few scuff marks on the paint and interior plastics (from wheelchair I guess) but no dents or severe scratches that c
  5. I recently got some reversing sensors off ebay for £13 (buzzer type with 4 sensors) and they were a cinch to fit. Best placement is on the lower part of the bumper where it kicks up a bit - you will even note zip tie points all along the back of the bumper. To access the left panel you'll need needle nose pliers a large screw driver and a torx screwdriver: 1) Remove boot carpet and push rear seat forward on left had side 2) The plastic trim across the bottom lip of the boot will need removing, this is done by carfully pulling the 4 plastic plugs out, prise out a little with screwdriver
  6. I've always resorted to using a block of wood to spread the load and avoid bending metalwork.
  7. No C-max specific stuff on the UK website for the gear surround and passenger strip although it looks like the German website does have the relevant bits. Looking at the prices it's would probably cost more for what is some stickers over buying the original parts from Ford Thanks but I'll save a few pounds for now.
  8. ....are you suggesting the following: Two bits of Ford manufactured plastic walnut style plastic trim parts, well cared for and provided in their own safety box#. #Please note safety box is made from a mixture of painted steel and clear/coloured glass, also has shock absorbing rubber pads and is labelled 'Ford C-max Ghia' with safety reflectors and lights for night-time identification. Still interesting to see that car manufacturers still hark back to the old days where the dash boards were real wood, weird that they can't move on and use modern materials in modern cars rather th
  9. Damn - I'm in denial, I must keep repeating to myself:- I Love fake plastic walnut, I Love fake plastic walnut, I Love fake plastic walnut, I Love fake plastic walnut, I Love fake plastic walnut.......... Wasn't much choice, had a Renault Laguna with all the gadgets you could want but dreaded French electrics and general unreliability meant I had to get shot of it pronto - got a good trade in against the Ghia, the wood/walnut is not pleasant on the eye and it certainly wasn't enought to stop me buying what is othrwise a perfectly good car. I'll keep scanning for scrapped cars for
  10. Ford C-max Ghia - who on earth thought fake walnut trim adds to the interior ambience?  I believe the Zetec model has aluminium trim? If this is the case is it easy to replace the trim around the gear gator and below passenger airbag? Can anyone recommend somewhere where I can get the trim at a reasonable price as Ford are quoting the best part of 50notes for a couple of bits of aluminium coloured plastic? Options tried are breakers (can't find any), Ebay (none on there) or horror of horrors just live with the fake walnut. Thanks
  11. Can someone tell me what the menu button does when it is held down in radio mode, it prompts for a pin number?
  12. I've just purchased and installed a Sony 6cd player however it didn't come with instructions (which would be handy to sus all the controls/features) Does anyone have an electronic copy or can anyone scan the manual for me? Alternatively is it possible to find a manual online? Model ref C214-CD6 (CDX-FC214) Thanks
