  1. You could use the official reinforced jacking point on the sill, but you'd need a bit of wood or rubber etc to protect the bodywork.
  2. Got stuck in a Picasso for 10 hours once, coming home from London in all that snow back in Jan 03. That wasn't too bad, although when idling, the engine doesn't make enough heat to keep the temperature up in freezing conditions.
  3. Anyone else had any problems jacking their car up? I've got a trolley jack I've had for years and have always used to jack my cars up. However, Ford cunningly made the Cmax a bit different, and the 'cup' on the TJ will damage the thin metal on the bottom of the sill, either side of the official jacking point. Now, I'd rather use my TJ than the wibbly wobbly standard jack, so I needed to find another way. On other cars, I've used a suitable strong looking suspension component, but when I put my jack under the suspension arm near where the spring comes down (i placed it on the rear part of t
  4. I'm sure you've looked, but is there anything printed on the back of the fuse box lid?
  5. The original Conti's on mine have just been changed, having all been worn down to just under 2.0mm, after 24,000 miles. They came in at £58 each from Mytyres, plus £35 fitting, balancing and disposal of old hoops, done at Leesons (Ford Dealers), Sutton Bridge. I replaced them with Goodyear Eagle F1 gsd3s, which have improved the steering feel, and quietened the ride a little. I can't say I've found them harder as I read elsewhere on this forum. Basically, I don't care how long they last! This car doesn't get driven hard, so I expect them to last the same as the contis, given that the q
  6. Ford test their cars in big old pits of water, and the car should be able to cope with water over the bonnet for a short period of time - just don't stop! Don't know if I'd risk it, all the same!
  7. Cheers Bob, The clips are glued on to the trim, but it shouldn't be too much of a problem.
  8. You get a slight dip as the compressor kicks in, then it should compensate, but will sound a bit louder as it's under load. You should hear the clutch engage & disengage, with a metallic 'click' sound.
  9. Is the clutch on the compressor engaging? (clicking sound followed by a change in engine note, as it works harder). Are the air con pipes in the engine bay getting cold to the touch? When this has happened to me in the past on other cars, it's been a wire off on the compressor, but knowing the Cmax, it'll probably be a computer glitch :D
  10. Was driving along earlier today and heard a sound from the passenger side rear, thought nothing of it. When I got home, the black trim at the rear of the passenger window, and it had come away at the bottom. Two of the plastic clips that hold it to the door had broken, and when I removed the whole thing, the top one had gone as well. has anyone else had any similar problems, and does anyone know if this is covered by the warranty? Cheers Chris
  11. hi Doc, Bit of a long shot, but try different diesel. Our 2.0tdci runs like a dog on most supermarket brands, really lumpy tickover, vibrates alot when revved, & produces a much louder 'diesel' sound. It didn't like total diesel either. We've found Ultimax & Esso diesel give the best results, but I'm sure other brands will work as well. Ultimax gave an 8% evonomy improvement too, in my unscientific tests up and down the A1. Hope this helps
  12. I've just ordered 4 x GSD3s, I've got them on my other car, and they are excellent, in wet and dry - the wet grip in particular is insane - you won't believe how much water they clear. Yes, they wear out quick, but I want them for grip & braking performance in the CMax for safety, rather than cornering grip.
  13. Seen them in Halfords today. As you say significantly cheaper than Ford! Good luck The halfords ones are complete kerap. They are NOT bosch, they are a cheaply made copy. I bought a set (for 37 quid) and they left a big smudge at the bottom of the screen, as they appeared too springy and also wobbled where the blade joined the connector in the middle. So I got a refund, and ordered a set of genuine Bosch from Autobulbs direct, for £32.99.
  14. When I picked my 2004 C-max up last year, it kept coming up with the 'EPB limited function' warning on starting. This went away when the software updates were done. However, if yours has come on whilst driving, and with it being an 05 model, it might be worth getting it checked out.
