  3. Unfortunatly had a stone of some sorts hit the passengers rear door the other day, tried to do a repair job and it's all gone to pot!! looks a right mess, so now gotta try and find someone to do a pukka job for me on this one, trouble was that I was rubbing down the touch -up paint where the damage was and didn't realise I was rubbing away the laquer below the damage and just looks bad now, wouldn't be so bad if the rest of the car wasn't in immaculate condition, (of which it is) and I didn't have such FAT fingers, god I could kick myself on this one, the amount of times I've done this sort o
  4. Finally got round to getting some scuff plates; got these ones: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... :IT&ih=007, they fit well and look quite good to be honest, darn sight cheaper than the Ford genuines! cheers Pete
  5. Cheers mate, the play i DON'T have is what I do expect as any play here I would be worried (when checking it I was gripping the shaft and trying to rotate it as it were). Cheers Pete
  6. just been doing some work on the motor and noticed some play in the driveshafts, can anyone tell me by looking at the image link below as to whether the play indicated by the RED arrow is acceptable, I suspect it is but not 100% sure. http://s149.photobucket.com/albums/s74/ ... aft5ax.jpg Cheers Pete
  7. Worth having a look at your mountings / bushes and checking for play in driveshafts etc cheers pete
  8. Yes mate , but only one gearbox mount was found to have play in it of which they changed, quite honestly for a vehicle of it's supposed quality these gearboxes and their setup are appauling I think, you may have even noticed the noises you get that come from the gearchange rods that run from the lever and through to gearbox i.e also a bit knocky, apparently the new focus has a revised box which is apparently smoother etc, I think that says it all really!! Cheers Pete
  9. Got it back this morning after having mounting changed and it does seem to be ok now, only seem to hear a noise if I come up of the clutch quickly after putting it into 2nd gear, but these mechanical noises, as drive is taken up I've heard before with front drive vehicles after all there is a lot more going on at the front there (driveshafts etc) and as well as anything else I haven't had a front wheel drive car myself for years, so some of what I hear I think from memory is normal and I need to get used to again, but at least the worrying noise may well be sorted now, journey to work in the
  10. I was just lucky the other Sunday to find a slot in the bad weather to to mine!! certainly feel like I'm fighting the weather at the moment and being a biker as well it's a nightmare, just can't get a decent ride in. Cheers Pete
  11. Would you believe the holder didn't come with the clips and screws so had to order seperately and arrived last night, anyway all fitted this lunch time and jobs a good 'un. Cheers Pete
  12. Waxoyled mine up now, so see how that goes Cheers Pete
  13. Took it in this morning and they test drove it and then up on the ramps for a visual etc. only thing the guy could find was slight play in the gearbox mounting / stabiliser bar , a possibility I suppose but I personally don't think it's that as it sounds more like clutch snatch sound to me, as said before if I push the lever right over to the left when changing from 1st to 2nd then the noise is hardly noticeable (of which I have mentioned to them and seem to fall on deaf ears) anyway going in Thursday to have the mounting done under warranty (ain't gonna make a difference I just know it) and g
  14. Started getting a sort of cracking/ knocking noise when opening the driver's or passengers door , seems to be coming from the check strap (bar that stops the door opening too wide) can feel it more nearer where it goes inside the door as it were, tried greasing them up and although the driver's side is a litttle quieter now it's still bad on passengers side, any ideas guys? Cheers Pete
  15. To be honest all tyre fitters should balance that way as you rightly say is 'How they fit on the car, makes complete sense really, but as we all know this is rarely done. Cheers Pete
  16. glad you got yours sorted too mate cheers Pete
  17. There could be a break in the supply to to the lock/ solenoid, so would suggest Checking fuses first (according to 2007 manual, it's fuse No.119 in passenger compartment fuse box) or there is a break in the wiring somewhere. Cheers Pete
