  1. I'll let you know chaps, I'm off to Wales from Tamworth this weekend, so I'll see how I do. I did get 55 once on a trip to Compton Verney and back. Mostly motorway with a bit of 60mph A-Roads. Usual MPG is 45-48 though.
  2. I took my car in recently for some fixed to the engine, and asked if the chime could be disabled through the WDS system they hook up to the car for diagnostics. The tech said he's had a good look through the options, especially he kind of remembered seeing it previously. No luck however. They would have done it if it was possbile as it was going to get charged back to the Ford Direct Warranty so no cost to them. It's v. distracting when your squeezing through a line of parked cars and the damn thing beeps at you. If it causes me an accident I expect to see Ford MoCo in court!
  3. Hi tdBBci, What sort of distance trips are you doing? My MPG varies MASSIVELY depending on the type of driving I'm doing. My commute of 5 miles of urban roundabouts, 5 miles of motorway and then 7 miles of dual carriageways and roundabouts give me 45-48 mpg. A steady cruise on the motorway at 65-75 gives me 55mpg and some 3 mile trips in and out of my town centre town sees it plummet to around 38. My overall average is about 43 - too many short trips. However it's better than a petrol of equivalent power output which would be lucky to see 35. It seems that you need to get the engine warme
  4. Why would someone sell a car with 11k miles on the clock? Ford need to keep the production lines rolling, so they give some to their managers/employees to drive for 6 months, then stick them out through the dealer networks/auction as nearly new. (That's where mine came from). Some companies lease cars for 6 months while staff are offsite at a project. Some cars, not many, but some, are duffers so they get taken back and disposed of through auctions / dealers. Lastly some people are just so unhappy with their new purchase they get rid of it while it's still worth something. I nearl
  5. I've had exactly the same same kind of problems, however the readings given by the trip meter weren't eratic, I was getting the same by measuring fill up to fill up. I've just had all the updates, for the dash and ECU and instead of getting around 40MPG and a stumbly engine, I'm now getting 50+ MPG and smoooooth acceleration. After my initial disapointment the car now rocks. All I can say, is Ford, what are you thinking. Tell your dealers to get these cars in and sort them. How many Brits, will just put up with this, not complain, but just quietly never buy Ford again.
  6. Sorted. ECU reflashed, the judderiness has gone. First trip out for a test and fuel consumption in mixed town, 60mph A road and some slow back lanes is up to 51.1 MPG (indicated) . I could never get it above 43 before. The other thing that is better is the throttle is now more progressive, originally is was painful for my right foot to hold it on a light throttle the travel being about only 2 or 3 mm. Now I can press it in a bit and it keeps a nice constant speed instead of accelerating. It makes me think the whole problem with fuel consumption and all that is more to do with the fly by wir
  7. I heard from my dealer yesterday, apparently I've had them running round in circles. I guess they had to keep popping out to cars on the forecourt to see if the windows/ dash etc worked the same :-). Anyway they have found some engine problems and need to update the ECU and are waiting for advice from Ford on which version of windows, sorry, the ECU software to install. I'll post an update incase it helps anyone else later on.
  8. I've found this forum a mine of information, but have some questions that I can't find answers to... There's been loads of post about engine fixes etc. Is the following one of the things that the ECU upgrade has sorted or is this unique to me... It's running rough on a light throttle. Like a 10 year old car with worn spark leads is how I explained it. Like the ECU doesn't know how much fuel, if any, to put into the engine. The result is a stumbling judderiness when trying to accelerate slowly. It happens all through the rev range, not just at the low end. It's worse when the engine is cold,
  9. I'm also trying to work out why my just acquired (used 9,000 miles) C-max has such poor fuel consumption (approx 40mpg) when my wife's 95M plate 1.9Tdi golf does over 50 on the same runs. I have to drive the C-max sensibly to get that figure while I can drive the golf how I like. The C-max does have 50% more max horsepower 135 vs 90, but I'm not using it as I'm changing gear at 2000-2500 and then rolling along in 6th at 1500-2000. on mixed A road and motorway with a bit of urban each end. Even on a steady motorway at 60 it was only doing 46mpg. I Was expecting to see 56-60 based on the offical
