  1. I have a new Ford Focus Zetec 2.0 petrol manual (ten weeks old) and managed to hit the cars bump stops. Just wondering if it could have caused any damage. Thanks.
  2. Thanks for replying. It's nice to know what it is at last. Sometimes it disengages louder (with a big thunk) than other times, but at least I know that it's supposed to do this.
  3. Nice to know that someone else has heard the same sound. Let's hope we find out what it is.
  4. I don't have the A/C on when I start the engine. It does sound like something is disengaging. I'd love to know what it is, and does it occur only on petrol engines, or perhaps only the 2.0 petrol manual?
  5. I don't think it's anything serious, but I just want to know what it is that's making the sound. I would be interested in any other owners with the 2.0 petrol manual, if they have heard the same sound, or if they could listen out for it.
  6. I have a Focus Zetec climate 2.0 petrol manual. Every time I pull away from a standstill I hear a sound (a slight clunk) from the front of the car: as if something mechanical is being released. This is while I am in first gear, and this happens only once I have accelerated for the first couple of seconds, and I don't hear it again. Just wondering if anyone knows what it might be. Surely someone must know what it is. Any Ford engineers on this forum?
  7. Both the front and rear screeens are alright on my car.

  9. The sound was coming from a loose bit of plastic which deflected the wind that was coming into the engine bay. It was just below the windscreen. All seems okay now, which I'm pleased with. :)
  10. Does every new Focus owner have some rattles, creaks or vibrations of some sort. My car is so quiet inside compared to other cars I've had, which makes any sound seem amplified. I suppose some owners don't mind the odd rattle, but it does irritate me. I ask because I have a vibration from behind my dashboard: Something has to be loose, the front passenger and driver side windows rattle if going over a rough surface.
  11. I haven't washed the car yet or put pressure on them (i hate finger prints on windows :D ) But they do creak a lot. I'm taking the car in this Friday do have a vibration looked at which is coming from the dashboard. Concerning the vibration from the dashboard: Someone on this forum thinks that it might be a loose passenger airbag bracket, which I think it could be. I'll get them to look at the windows aswell. Do you know if it affects the rear windows aswell?
  12. Thanks for the info Butch. You would have thought they would have fitted the updated seals while making my car. My car started being made on August 30th, and I picked it up on September 28th.
  13. Anyone else find this? I'm driving along, everything is nice and quiet smooth, then I go over a slight bit of uneven tarmac and I get both the driver and passenger door/window frame creak. It could be the plastic surround of the windows. Surely this can't be right. I want my new car to be silent. It is, until I get these noises, and as our roads in the UK aren't all that great, then I get this noise quite often.
  14. I'll be 100% happy once I get the vibration behind the dashboard sorted out. Booked it in for next week. Fingers crossed.
  15. I had a look underneath the bonnet today, and found that the plastic cover which covers the battery was very loose. Put it on so that it had a tighter fit, but haven't been on the motorway today so have not been able to find out it was the problem. I think it is as it got worse the faster I went, which I guess was the higher velocity of air entering the front of the car at speed. I hope it is the problem as I don't want the dashboard dismantled.
  16. I think it is the same noise I am thinking about. Have a listen to it outside the car, and it is a lot louder. I think is has something to do with the fuel injection, but my mondeo was fuel injected and it didn't make that noise. Don't get me wrong, I don't think there is anything wrong with the car, or I don't like the sound it makes (I like it), but I just want to know what it is for sure.
  17. I have discovered a vibration behind the dashboard when traveling on the motorway. When cruising at 70 or 80 it is quite loud and very irritating. Another trip to my Ford Dealer  Anyone else had/heard a vibration?
  18. My car is a Zetec climate 2.0 petrol manual. It is difficult to exactly say what type of sound it is: kind of zzzzzzzzzzzz. It could be the exhaust note. It sounds as if it's the injection system, but you can't really hear it if you are inside the car, but when the engine is running and you get out of the car, you can hear this sound, which is loudish. It's not irritating and makes the car sound interesting. I don't think it's a fault, just the sound the car makes when running. My ten year old Mondeo was very quiet when I got out of it, just the smooth sound of the engine running, so
  19. They said there is nothing they can do, and as it is new, I should give it a few more weeks, and if it is still making the same noise, they will fit a new one. Perhaps I should mention that it only needs an adjustment.
  20. You are right. I thought I was meant to have headlight washer jets. Thanks anyway.
  21. Taking it in on friday. Can it be cured?
  22. Anyone have this problem on their car? I have a Zetec Climate 2.0 petrol. Every time the clutch lifts after I have made a gear change I can clearly hear a click. Is this just how the clutch works, or does it need some oil My mondeo clutch was silent, apart from the time it started squeaking, but it only needed a bit of oil and it was fine.
  23. Looks like the heated washer jets have been left off my car. Will have to contact my dealer, but what can they do. How would you go about getting compensation on something that should be on the car but isn't?
