  1. Is that using the MPG figure from the trip computer? Not sure how accurate those things are? So far these are my figures per tankful: 1st = 26.45 2nd = 27.38 3rd = 28.47 4th = 30.48 5th = 27.62 6th = 29.18 The three highest figures all included a run on 'A' roads of approx 100 miles. Aardy
  2. Nice one will86, would be great if you can find out if it's possible.
  3. No answers from me but some more questions that might help get an informed answer. What size engine? What type of fuel? How are you working out the MPG? Aardy
  4. Gawd that takes me back a few decades to my CB days! Anyhow, my old man has always harped on about different cars he's had performing 'better' with certains brands of petrol. Never bothered with it myself, preferring whatever supermarket had the cheapest, but to be honest all my previous cars were high mileage older models. Now I've got my relatively (for me) 'young' and low mileage 2005 MK2 I'm thinking more about what he said. Looking in the handbook pack there's a flyer from Ford recommending BP fuel so for my second tankful I've used BP. Thing was, when I filled up there was regular un
  5. Mine only had 5,200 miles on it though when I bought her at the beginning of this month - the previous owner was disabled and only used it to go to the shops and back so I'm told.
  6. OK, thanks stu and Woodroff for the reassurance that mine's as it should be (and many thanks for the picture as well Woodroff). Aardy
  7. Hey, quick reply, thanks stu. Are you saying yours is rusty too, or I should be worried as mine is rusty?
  8. where it passes through the bulkhead? Just noticed mine hasn't got any form of cover/gaiter which doesn't look right to me: It's a 2005 MK2 - if anyone could have a butcher's at theirs next time they're in the car and could let me know that would be great. Cheers.
  9. Hi folks, been away for a couple of days. Sorry, should have said, yeah 2.0 petrol. I'm working the mpg out by tanking her, driving 'til she needs refilling and then dividing the mileage done by how much she takes in and then times by 4.54609188 to get mpg (or can be done by putting the figures in this calculator No my Auto box has Transmission modes as well. Heavens knows how it all works though - according to the handbook there are three Vehicle Setup modes: Standard - Steering = Standard and Auto transmission = Adaptive Sport - Steering = Sport and Auto transmission = S
  10.      Would have liked a TDCi but Autos very hard to come by.
  11. Mk2 5 door 2005 2.0 Auto Titanium (owned for 12 days) and I'm getting 26.45mpg - that's urban commuting with a little bit of mucking around trying different driving modes i.e. Comfort, Standard and Sport. Will be interesting to see if it improves over the weeks and if so by how much. Anyone else keep tabs on their MPG?
  12. LOL, thanks for the suggestions folks, think I'll see if the guillotone at work is up to trimming the pad she bought.
  13. Because she found clips for a pen and notepad in the glovebox of our 2005 MK2 the missus bought a mini notepad in Asda today. Unfortunately it's too big - so I've been asked to enquire of you good folk (to justify my £20 apparently ) is there a genuine Ford part that anyone could give me the Finis code for or does anyone know of a pad that fits? Cheers
  14. Hi folks, Before I start I must mention I'm not mechanically-minded. Just had my new (to me) 2005 2.0 Auto Titanium MK2 in at the Ford dealership for a 37,500 service (although it's only got 5,200 on the clock :) ). They said everything was fine but Ford recommend the brake fluid is changed every two years - no problem, I agreed the work at a cost of £40. After I got it back I was looking in the engine bay and noticed the cap on the brake reservoir has some accumulated dirt that doesn't look like it's been touched. Given it's location I would have expected the cap to show signs of
