  1. 60mph is 1600rpm in 6th on my 2.0 TDCI :)
  2. The less it slows down the better! Shows there's less resistance in the whole engine which is better for high revving and mpg.
  3. Just researched it a little further. Seems it's generally agreed that new tyres go on the rear. It's easier to control understeer than losing the backend!
  4. Trying not to hijack this thread but when I last got my tyres replaced, it was the two fronts that were worn (backs were fine). The tire place rotated the two remaining used tyres to the front and shoved the new ones on the back. Is this normal practise!?
  5. In my 2.0 TDCI, I averaged about 55mpg with mostly motorway driving and about 15% town driving. After putting a DTUK tuning box on it, exactly the same journeys are now averaging closer to 66mpg  This is going by the trip computer and working it out manually. The tuning box alters the fuelling and plugs directly into the common rail so could this be getting closer to the problem?
  6. I stupidly went for Continentals when I got them replaced a fortnight ago and I, too, find the tyre roar a little excessive. It's almost as bad as my old Corsa C. Really not impressed. Can't really afford to replace them again so will unfortunately have to put up with it until I get some Toyos. Eugh! Speaking of which - I went to get the two front tyres replaced which they did but then rotated the two new Continentals to the back and put the Michelins with reasonably good tread (5mm+) on the front. Is this normal!?
  7. Drove the Mk6 and is certainly a decent car to drive. When all's said and done, it's as good as the Focus and arguably more refined. Just don't like the styling or interior at all. Definitely doesn't feel worth its money in my opinion. I'm not a Focus fanboy, I did have a Mk4 Golf and loved it! EDIT: That's not entirely true: I way prefer the front of the Mk6 over the Mk5, and probably the '58 Focus as well.
