  1. another thought - before removing the steering wheel get the stering centred and try to fix the clock spring in place so that it doesnt unwind. You can then put the new wheel straight in. If you let the clock spring go - like i did - you need to count the turns and set it half way. If you are going to tape the switches to the 3 spoke wheel like i did till you get it the cc working you dont need to remove the wheel - you only need to remove the bag to plug them in and then fit the bag back over the wires.
  2. Some more info since I wrote the sticky post. First I got 4 spoke wheel and switches second hand from ebay - no airbag - it was quite cheep. I took the switches off the 4 spoke wheel and taped them to the top of my 3 spoke wheel. I took the air bag off and plugged them in. There was enough room to refit the airbag with the wires sqeezed behind. You must remove the battery for a good hour before removing the airbag and i guess you could drive without it an airbag but insurance would be invalid and i was woried about messing the airbag check system. The top picture in my sticky post
  3. Hi Have you seen sticky post http://www.ffoc.co.uk/modules.php?name= ... highlight= All you need is the four spok wheel with switches and airbag. Getting the dealer to change the settings is hard because it is not something ford approve of. The dealer then worries that if the car does something that causes an accident they could be libel. Tezza has someone who will do it for you or you need to shop around. The dealer that did mine didn’t know what they were doing but were happy to follow the instructions as shown in my post. i bought a second hand wheel with switches for about £40
  4. Ps if you have a heated front screen the wire to this is like tin foil behind the courtesy light - I think it is easy to damage so care is needed.
  5. The aerial is easy to fit. The tricky bit is getting the courtesy light out. Do as follows: Take the see trough bit off and then the centre bit in the middle clicks forward. If you look in where the bulb is you can see silver clips. When this bit is out you see two philips screws. Take these out and the rest of the light fitting comes away. The normal areal can then be removed with one of those star drivers. The screw is also the wire fixing. When this is out you can pull the areal off from the outside. I left the old wire in there. Next remove the drivers side trim that comes down the winds
  6. So he seems an ok person to buy from?? He is charging a lot but they dont come up often. Have you fitted the focus dab aerial? Phil
  7. Hi I am thinking of buying a radio off ebay from a user djzygi. He says it is new and i might be in the same position as you with the words "unconfigured mode" coming up. Did you get this fixed? Phil
  8. Hi Iain I have looked at same sort of things have a look at http://www.ffoc.co.uk/modules.php?name= ... highlight=
  9. Hi Iain I am guessing that your radio was a new one and not one from another car. If this is the case I think a ford dealer needs to configure it to the car. If your radio had come form another car it does not need to be configured to the car for some reason. Mine does the 1 hour thing is when I switch the radio on from the radio itself without the ignition on. I guess it is so you can listen to the radio when parked without the keys in the ignition. It turns off after an hour. Phil
  10. Hi chudleighpaul I have the Focus DAB aerial with two leads but it has a different splitter from the late mondeo areial that uses the rear window as the aerial. It seems I need some sort of mix of the two. Phil
  11. I have bought a DAB radio from 60 plate mondeo. It seems the 4.5 mondeo uses the rear window as the aerial and where a normal DAB radio has two aerial inputs one for dab and one for normal radio, the one I have bought has a different split. From what I can work out it has an FM aerial input and a DAB AM combined aerial input. I think the new mondeos must have an areal splitter that splits the signal in this way. Has anyone fitted one of these to a Focus or anyone who can help me try to work out how the radio needs to be wired? Regards, Phil
