  1. My Zetec now just over a week I concur with all of the above. With the exception of the girly bits the Ghia has for those that used to own a Sunshine coach. The leather seats are useful for the incontinent as they clean so well but I still think they are a wee bit ..mmm..plain. But comfortable..oh yes. I take it you didn't go for the optional comode then? Insulation Cata? Interested although I don't notice the noiset that much. How difficult to get the panels off and on? Any tips would be appreciated.
  2. Hope this works. HU looks darker because of image quality diff but you get the idea, or not if it doesn't appear
  3. "I've got a replacement knob" means you're history of course. If its you saying it then thats a whole new ball game of course........
  4. ....and I'll take the video shots of it all. To be seen on a web site near you soon. Still waiting for my new knob. ....
  5. That was the decison I made as well . Almost made the decision not to have a bracket at all but just use the button but the guy showed me the location i thought Ok, that will do.
  6. What we need is some sucke......brave soul to try it for us....well me anyway
  7. Most mobile/bluetooth installs involve a seperate box and they have to be HU independent in that the output signals are "standard" otherwise everytime someone changed their HU they would have to change their mobile hands free box. It does depend on the output to the Ford Hu as you say. When I mentiond standards I meant the actual install.I was just expressing genuine surprise that the implication that Ford would deliberatly engineer/convert the data steam coding required to activate the mute etc etc on their HU's would be different from 1s and 0s is well....surprising :) Surely thats m
  8. Just re-checked mine and they have routed it similar to yours dennis. Flush fit.
  9. Thanks dennis, saw it before and it still looks good. I'll ignore the lower unit as I will fit the fascia with the storage area there. The Alpine looks a good fit and I will play around with photoshop tonight and superimpose a pic of my Woodstock DAB54 in its place. Jon, just had my car kit fitted and my holder is more level with the equaliser, another couple of inches up. Still needs to be a bit proud so you can see the screen of the phone. I also have a nice button that has been put on the lower blank switch plate on the right. My trim is slightly inset like Dennis's and not much affec
  10. It looks like it is just pulled over in the same way a tyre is put on a bike wheel.. Its a tiny bit stretchy.
  11. I'll ask this another way as the tumbleweed blowing through my original post is reaching epidemic proportions. Has anyone any pics of their C-Max after market HU so I can judge the asthetics?
  12. As with all technology that companies think they are protecting by making it inbedded in other components this is a problem. First one is the deliberate lack of information that would allow "outsiders" to do their own thing and therefore deprive the poor hard up company some lucrative rip off revenue. Second is the smoke and mirrors mis information to confuse and divide so people just give up. Of course in a lot of cases its just not worth the effort or cost. Fitting aftermarket climate control is a case in point. Whilst I don't understand the CAN bus architecture so my arguement is flawed
  13. Too many people around. Still waiting... Not really sure how I'm going to get the gaiter back on the new one. Its a bit like a reverse circumcision. Getting it off is tough but looks simple though
  14. There you go. God save us from proprietry technology
  15. If the bluetooth is not an integral part of the HU it will be a seperate contol box. If you connect your mobile through bluetooth now ustilising the Hu speakers then a new HU will just need the relevant Ford- Alpine/JVC/Becker lead and Bobs your Uncle. It will all work the same as the Bluetooth box will be hard wired into the loom before the HU. Mind you this is a car manufacturer so that assumption could wrong but in theory thats the industry standards for bluetooth installations with most fitters. Andy bryant hopefully will know.
  16. tesscott is the one with the obsession with knobs if you ask me. However, the semi-Climate control worked well in my Passat. Set the control for 21 degrees and leave it. Agree with A/C though for the C-Max and the change being a technical nightmare
  17. I'm definately having DAB as once bitten never forgotten. Options are to get the Blaupunkt Woodstock DAB 54 (which I had in my Passat MP3/SD slot) Sony DAB 6650 ( Doesn't have SD card slot but is DAB and MP3 like Woodstock) JVC KD - DB711 - Good DAB/MP3 but a bit uck to look at The SOny is a raesonable match for the dash but is a bit bulbous. The JVC is a bit pants to look at but has a superb DAB tuner The Blaupunkt is my fav as its pretty flat has all the features, sounds great but is a black colour. Altyhough I can adjust the display to match the green or red on the dials. So I gues
  18. In fact heres one on ebay for £1 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FORD-Car-RADIO-se ... dZViewItem
  19. If it doesn't there are plenty of legal web sites that will calculate your code for a £5. You can even get a code that disables the code function all together so you never need worry again. Why is it legal? 'Cos its your radio and you can do what you like to it is why, legal isn't even an issue
  20. certainly does and thank you. On that basis are Xenon lamps worth fitting? Although to answer my question partially I am impressed by the C-Max's light anyway so any improvement would have to be a reasonably big one. I would think most of these "upgrades" are of more benfit to older cars with old fashioned lamps
  21. They look good as well. Just not convinced that the improvement over my standard lamps would be worth the extra cost or the hassle. Drove last night and the lights are pretty good on the Max. Still can't make out if the standard bulbs I've got are just that or Halogen. Like the idea of a brighter white light, not the blue as such, but it would be a shame to spend the money and find I've got the same...
  22. I'm sure some member will have a set he can let you use , for say, a £1 plus p&P. Return the keys with a £1 coin and like a chain letter someone will make millions. Its a thought, I mean, how often do you need to take the radio out to justify £10. It wouldn't take many users to get your £10 back...well, 10 in fact....
  23. Expecting it tomorrow apparently, Wednesday at the latest. Actually bought one that was for sale, unused, on ebay for £19 delivered. £29 from Ford Parts Uk is still a good price nonetheless. I'll dump the picture on my son's public web site server..in his room...for uploading as I guess thats the only way[/img]
