  1. v. difficult and expensive to change the mirrors, but only about £20 to change the side repeater lenses in the wings: lots of old posts on here about it: old-generation Galaxy ones look best but are a very tight fit.
  2. I'd go for tonic, with camel leather seats, like the prototype in all the early Ford publicity. Add clear side repeaters afterwards if it's not a Ghia.
  3. Er, yes, you have missed something, but then the thread's been dead for 6 weeks, so it's all a bit in the past now. ....tumbleweed blows across the page......!
  4. Nick, You don't think it's him do you...... just when you thought it was safe to go back into the forum ....?
  5. I'm with topgazza. Thought it was funny for a bit, now very bored with the attitude.
  6. Mastertech, do you talk like that to your mates in the pub ? Rudeness might be tolerated for the sake of helpful information, but you seem to be positively proud of it. Anyway, what did happen to our old chum LeeMarmit ?
  7. I sold mine back to the dealer (Matlock Ford), but I was money rich and time poor, as the cliche goes. Got 12k in April for a Sept 2005 2.0tdci ghia with leather, privacy, front and rear parking sensors and bluetooth, about 6k miles. Could probably have got £13k + privately if I was patient.
  8. How many miles ? With 10-15k miles, I'd advertise it for £10,500 and hope to get £10,000. There was very little interest when I sold my similar C-Max in April this year.
  9. Jonjen - I think you need to go along to the Ford dealer in your current Galaxy and compare side by side. I suspect you'll find the S-Max is about the same for space in the middle row, and worse in the 3rd row. All the seats fold flat in the new models, but the space is still not significantly greater than you get in the old Galaxy just by folding the seat backs right down on the seat bases, while it's nowhere near as big or as practical as the space you get in the old Galaxy if you do go to the trouble of taking all the seats out.
  10. Mastertech, have you got 4 kids ? Have you ever actually owned a Galaxy or driven one loaded up with kids and luggage on countless holidays ? Moved 3 houses and 2 offices with the help of one ? Piled them up with loft flooring, plasterboard, etc etc ? No ? Then calm down a bit. You've got an unfortunate sharpness that tends to get people's backs up. I'm not saying the new cars aren't good, just that they aren't as much of an advance over the old Galaxy as a target customer like me was hoping.
  11. Just been to look at the new Galaxy and S-Max and had a decent test drive of the S-Max. I've had 2 C-Maxes, 2 Galaxies and 2 Sharans in the last 10 years, so I was keen to see how they compared. I've currently got a 6 month old Sharan. I thought they were ok in absolute terms, but they weren't the all round improvement from the old Galaxy/Sharan I was hoping for (or from the C-Max for that matter). Anyone who's currently got a 2000 onwards high spec Galaxy/Sharan isn't going to think there's an overall improvement in: - useable space; - interior/trim build and materials quality; - road noise
  12. Can't think of any diesel automatic I really like at sensible prices, but if you get the chance then try the 3.0v6tdi in the Audi A4/6/8 (or VW Phaeton, if you can find one !): fabulous. You actually want it to kick down just for the peachy noise of the engine and the surge of power.
  13. (Warning: seroiusly off-topic) Anyone feeling discenchanted with their C-Max or other Ford vehicle should really go and do what I was just forced to do: drive a rental Kia Sedona round Scotland for 4 days. It was the only 6+ seater I could get at Edinburgh airport. I thought "How bad can it be ?". The engine, despite being a 2.9 litre turbo-diesel, had less go than my 1.9tdi sharan, and was actually much noisier (until then I didn't think it was possible to get a noisier diesel than the VW PD lump). The automatic box sometimes lurched between gears while halfway round corners, and yet
  14. No problem, Andy. Glad they kept up with their reputation. How was your holiday ? I'm seriously thinking about getting a new Galaxy from them in a few weeks' time: they're good on prices for new cars, as well as service costs. If anyone else is thinking about a new Galaxy or S-Max, shout now and I'll let you know what prices I can wangle.
  15. Oh yes, and as well as being informative it used to be full of nob gags (grows misty-eyed and nostalgic). There's nothing like a good nob gag to break the tension
