  1. Deja vu mate  You might have already done this but have you gone in and spoken to the manager at the dealers ? Mine was genuinely surprised with my hassle wrt the courtesy car and sorted one in minutes. Well mine wasn't I drove in to the large main ford agent where I bought it several weeks earlier and expalined I was lucky to get the car there at all. It was Monday morning and it took all day to get the right software loaded to run the diagnostics for my OLD software on my 54 plate ! Tuesday they decided the EGR valve was Frozen and dident have one in stock (given how many fail they
  2. There are far to many issues including the EGR valve with the TDCI engines I have had 2 so far both problems both different models and engine sizes thats why I am glad I got shot of mine before the warrenty ran out and got petrol ones for the wife and I and it works out at only 3 quid a week more in fuel when you do the maths on the price to buy and service etc. I hate to think how much this would cost out of warrenty. PS: I also had exactly the same problem with the hire car 1 day and they had it 3 days to fix .
  3. anyone know the service costs for 1.6 ti vct and 1.8 tdci
  4. Found 2 plates one with tyre presures one with weights and a long number on it but cannot work out paint code from this. They are on the drivers door pillar at the bottom.
  5. Has a look but couldent see anthing that looked like a data plate
  6. Where can I find the colour ref number on the car to get correct paint code?
  7. How heavy is the clutch in slow traffic ? on TDCI
  8. The car started what you decribed exactly around 20,000 miles high milage for a 54 plate I had ford take a look and they diagnosed it staright away but had to await the EGR valve replacement after it was fixed it seemed a lot smoother generaly but fuel seemed to be used more maybe ? anyway it was good for the 2 weeks I kept the car then traded it in for a petrol but once fixed that should be it .................
  9. Had exactly the same problem had the EGR valve changed as they said it was frozen ? took 3 days while the ordered the part from Ford all fixed but got rid of it anyway.....
  10. Which Performance Exhausts if any fit the new 1.6ltr 115BHP 5door focus. anyone? TIA :)
  11. So your a police officer ????????? and a Technical Consultant ? Its a cool thing I think they think, we think otherwise eh? I think.
  12. Interesting you say that I have had both the:- 1.8 ltr 115bhp Petrol MK1 5dr Zeatec 51 Plate and 1.8 ltr 115bhp TDCI MK2 5dr Ghia 52 plate the old 1.8 petrol was particularly gutless in 4th & 5th at 60 - 80 mph kinda speeds. The new 1.6 115bhp seems to pull a lot stronger at these speeds its no road rocket mind but also in my opinion a much stronger engine. I have to disagree with our freinds comment that there is nothing in 1st and 2ed to sparkle mine fly's in these 2 gears particualy as you would expect and with a top end of 118mph this aint bad for a 1.6 litre engine which returns
  13. I think if you have a decent dealer you can buy anything I dont mind ONE visit if everythings put right, however this is seldom the case with my local ford dealers and for that matter VW dealers as far as the guys at work tell me with there cars both Golfs. I have just traded in my 2.0 ltr TDCI CMAX 54plate Zeatec for a O5 Plate Focus 1.6 115 Petrol Zeatec its much more refined if not as quick, I had a poor example which the dealers were uninterested in fixing to my satisfaction after 20.000 miles and a breakdown (EGR valve) I had enough of it there are no rattles on the new focus, so far...
  14. How gutless is the 1.6 115bhp I read its a pretty lousy engine all round fuel and power wise I see most people are unhappy with the fuel as I am sure I will be, however I am interested to hear what others say who drive them how bad are they.
  15. On My old focus's Mk 1 and 2 there was a Ford made and sold rear sun blind that fitted via 3 clips and was a perfect fit for the rear window dident look like a blind/sun shade at all really, Does ant one know if its been done for the new one yet? if not why not? PS pick my 05 plate up Sat lunch time (if the paint matches that is, on the bumpers)
  16. I had a laguna 1.9 dci 52 plate it was the worst car I have owned/driven in my life, as you say the build quality was dire and it sounded like a tractor was sluggish and poor on MPG and everything rattled and I mean everything that is of course unless it was vibrating the radio was a must to keep your sanity, I wont bore you with all the electrical woes....... I felt very guilty about trading it in - it should have been crushed!
  17. Well the noise is back next day really anyways booked in again 3rd time, will bring baseball bat for workout on service manager as well!
  18. Scott Nice editing you missed the point "previous brim to brim tank tests on cold start uban driving have given 43mpg and mixed 100 mile round trips have given 49mpg. " Still V Good IMHO, thats what was real world driving sorry I thought it was obvious!, as for Renault having owned a Laguna 2002 1.9 dci it is without doubt the worst car I have ever driven for just about everything including MPG but mostly build quality
  19. Well my 54 plate 2.0tdci zetec on the way to work this evening following a truck up the M3 Motorway at 55mph for 30 miles was showing 75.1 MPG at the end of the motorway section, furthermore miles left in the tank readout reflected this as well & previous brim to brim tank tests on cold start uban driving have given 43mpg and mixed 100 mile round trips have given 49mpg. This is not bad in my opinion in real world driving. Far better I might add to previous Mazda and Renault DCI cars I have owned recently. :)
  20. 2 guys at work have Golf's 1 new & 1 old and a friend has a 12 month old Passet all have ongoing fault problems and poor dealer support from different locations, as have I in the last 4 years with Renualt, Ford, & whizzpopper the only one that was OK was Mazda! but I DONT LIKE there MPV's.
  21. Im not a fan of the 1.8 I had one in my mk1 focus hatch and it was useless in 5th gear to increase speed even on a slight incline you had to drop to 4th which ruined the MPG unlike the 1.8 tdci focus hatch I replaced it with, having said that I let my wife buy a 1.8 c-max as she doesent do many miles and again its poor in 5th (my 1.6 old Vectra was better in 5th ) as has been said the 2.0 TDCI is the one to go for IMHO.
  22. All Ok with the clock will give the noise a couple of weeks to come back - maybe? Tie bars have been changed now on the front.
  23. I thought I would start a new thread as the other one has been hijacked by VAG lovers (only joking) I'm just about to go down and collect my C-Max for the second time from my local garage because of this Rumbling noise issue. The info I have so far is A, its a common issue B, The first time they thought it was dry front struts and seemed fine for 2 weeks afterwards. C, This time they say its the tie bars? to the steering and have replaced them. D, In fairness they have been very helpful about this issue, and have also "fixed" my clock thats unchangeable and was an hour out as well! let you
