  1. The 140bhp. The 170 is only coming in top trim/top price option as far as I know.
  2. New Passat 2.0tdi. If I thought the dealer would take it back and I could be bothered I'd try, but I've expended too much energy and time over this car so it's off.
  3. I'd advise them to read this forum and also consider whether they were willing to put up with the dealers treatment of the customer when they return with a problem such as those well documented on this forum. Thorough product testing should be done prior to selling something as complex as a modern car to the public. Technical solutions to wide scale problems and fair treatment of customers reporting those problems seem to be a common theme and something FMC aren't too good at with the C-Max. 'What it is' for many people is not 'what you'd expect it to be.' - having bought a new or nearly
  4. My stuttering, hesitating and finally 'no reponse from throttle' 2.0tdci is on its way after too many visits to the dealer in the 6 months I've had it from a year old. I'm trading it in for a boring VW. It may not be as exciting to drive as the Max but I can tell you there isn't much excitement in having a problem which can't (yet) be fixed; even after a new EGR valve and "WDS computer says no faults!" The Ford technician was quite open with me about the guidance from FMC post the EGR valve change. They are basically told to advise the customer to avoid urban low RPM stop/start journeys an
  5. Nichola, My 2.0 TDCI Ghia has just had its EGR valve replaced for exactly the same problem (''engine started but i had no revs at all. The foot pedal was doing nothing.'') It appears to have fixed this problem but has failed to fix a rough tickover when cold and worse still a misfire/hesitation under light acceleration between 2250-3000 rpm. Going back to the dealer to 'prove it' to them. The EGR thing seems to keep on cropping up, as does Ford's inability to sort out anything that doesn't generate a fault code on a computer. Shant be buying another one or recommending anyone else does ei
  6. Car booked in for 23rd. Spoke to service dept today and was told it sounded more like a calibration problem requiring a software update - don't they always say that! They did say they had just received an updated disk though. I'll let you know what happens.
  7. Thanks for the reply. Did you suffer from any total loss of power at speed as mentioned in previous posts? Just wondering if I've got this to come if it doesn't get sorted.
  8. Bought a 2nd hand 2.0tdci Ghia on a 04 plate (Mar 04) and seem to have had some of the well documented 'common faults' with the car. The local dealer has mangaed to sort some of them out, but like many people who post here, I am amazed how incapable & unwilling they are. They have been unable to diagnose or more importantly fix the car which suffers from rough running just above tick over when cold and surges & misfires between 1750-2750 RPM until fully warm. This is much more notieable when on light throttle settings. If you boot it a bit it will pick up and it runs normally. It doe
