  1. Dreadlock I totally agree about the quietness of the engine. See you drive in Stratford - I live in Stratford - small world eh! :D
  2. Can't really see how you can get a proper reading having only done 117 miles. Got to use at least a tankfull. As I said previously the fuel computer can be wildly inaccurate if readings are taken at a particular point when driving. Silliest case is you could be stationary with the engine running and you'd get 0 mph. You have to take a reading over a wide range of normal driving, and the best way to do that is re-fill to top and note how much you put in to how many miles you've done since the last re-fill to top.
  3. Think so. I don't know whether your car will have the fuel computer but if it has ignore it. Most people on here are getting carried away with the readings which are only a guide at best. By the re-fill and distance method I am getting 34.8 MPG with a mixture of driving and I live in town. Only done 500 miles so it should get even better.
  4. No No. I am talking about the new Mk2 Mudflaps, they're just designed badly.
  5. I think I'm a bit older than you, I have long forgotten what a new girlfriend is like! :D
  6. I believe the 1.6 was an alloy cylinder block but the 1.8 was cast. So the 1.6 was a much lighter engine and threfore there was a perception that there was not much difference in performance.
  7. I don't think the 100 is more torquey than the 115, about the same under 3000. The 115 is definitely livelier above 3000 though. I'd say you will gain something extra with the 115 and not lose anything. Interesting that you say the 100 has chain driven cams though, I assume you are saying the 115 has belts, where did you find out that?
  8. Had a Mk1.5 Focus for 3 years, absolutely loved the car. Got talked into getting a Mk2 so my son could have the Mk1.5. When I first got it I thought 'I don't like this', its not like my Mk 1.5. And that is the point, it's not like a Mk1.5, it's a totally different car. Had it 2 months now and it's totally grown on me, love it again. Drove my old Mk1.5 yesterday and thought, 'I don't like this'! Funny eh! In truth they're both superb cars but different.
  9. Don't know what a MS Design kit is but my mate has fitted Mudflaps to his standard Mk2 Focus 5Dr. An absolute nightmare on the backs unless you take the wheels off. Also they don't fit as nicely as the Mk1/1.5 did. The holes on the Ford Mudflaps do not line up with the screws on the car and you have to drill new holes. I'm going to do it to mine when the weather's better. 4 out of 10 for that Ford.
  10. Put Asda's standard unleaded in my 115, goes fine.
  11. Outrageous. Do it your self mate. Can't be that hard.
  12. I did notice this slightly just after I picked mine up, but haven't had it since. Might be the fact that the headlights hadn't been used for some weeks due to standing in dealers.
  13. Wardell - Did you reset it OK and did it hold the setting without any further trouble, and if so how did you do it - with the ignition on/off, radio on/of, engine on/off ?
  14. Evil Homer - I too purchased my Zetec from Dagenham Motors (Plaistow). My mate bought one a few days later and the salesman said I'll get you £25 for the introduction. He then phoned me a couple of weeks later and asked if I had recieved their questionaire and mentioned the £25 again. Well I've now recieved the questionaire so when I go in for my 1500 mile check I'm going to go and see him and tell him I've got the questionaire, how would he like it filled out and where's my £25? Nothing like a bit of blackmail!
  15. Spot on Crockett. I have had the same wierd thing. When I set my clock with the engine running (whilst waiting for the wife to go in the papershop) the clock reverted to 4 minutes slow the day after, i.e. after the engine was switched off. However if I set the clock with the ign on but engine not running the clock stays set at the right time irrespective of what you do. Thought it rather weird.
  16. Don't know if the CDDJ one has the wiring or works, but it takes 2 mins to remove the glovebox so there's no harm in having a look above the air bag canister bracket.
  17. The 115 engine has got two solenoids on the left of the camshaft covers, the 99 hasn't. The 115 engine has all four inlet manifold pies in a row of four, the 99 has the air cleaner pipe going in between the first and second inlet pipe. Build dates can be read off the VIN number, see this: http://forum.ffoc.co.uk/forum/viewtopic ... 798ab546d7 Build dates can be some time before sell dates, I've just got a Zetec Climate 1.6 115. Registered 27 Jan 2006 but built in Aug 2005. Haven't found any major problem yet.
  18. That's a total rip off. What work do they have to do to program a key? I could do it myself in the ignition on my Mk1. Why have they changed it for my Mk2?
  19. By the re-fill and check how many miles I've done method my 1.6 Ti-VCT 115 with only 400 miles on the clock is returning an encouraging 34.8 MPG. This is mixed 50% heavy town driving and 50% motorway.
  20. On my car the 4 way socket was above the silver bracket you show in picture 1. It is not obvious because it is wrapped up in tape around the wiring loom.
  21. People keep talking about software updates for the ECU. Problem is how can you tell what software your car is running on so that you know whether it needs updating or not, and how do you know the latest version available? :?: It's not like a computer where you can look at the version numbers in Windows.
  22. Seems to me that about 50% of the posts on here are about the ST. Can a new forum be started for the "All New Ford Focus ST" as we all haven't got or are getting STs.
  23. Thanks DJL. However I haven't got a button. I think this is because the Zetec only has a Perimeter Alarm and no internal sensors. I do think it rather crazy that you either have to have a second remote (in which case Fords should supply one as standard) or my Wife who does not drive has to switch the ignition with her (spare) key to disarm the alarm. God I hate to think what she might end up doing. Think Fords have got this wrong.
  24. Have I got a fault or am I missing something? If I double lock my Zetec with the remote and then unlock it with the spare key in the keyhole then sometimes when I open the door the car bleeps and after about 10 seconds the Alarm goes off. This can't be right. The Wife has the spare key and sometimes she needs to get in the car when I'm not there.
  25. Agree with what's been said about people posting the few problems they have had. The Focus is a superb car. Your always going to get things that people don't like and not everybody will get their Focus without having a single issue with it. Out of interest does anybody know of Forums for other cars - say whizzpopper Astras - that we could read. I suspect that similar negative and positive posts exist on them just as you would get for anything.
