  1. Thanks Nick. Yeah I am, but it's still a work in progress. A friend of mine does custom brake conversions and right now he is making brackets to fit porsche boxster brakes for me. Should JUST fit nicely! 8)
  2. Hi. Cheers, you have a great looking car yourself mate. The strut brace balances the front wheels by transfering pressure from one strut to the other. It basically helps both the front wheels stay in contact with the road allowing much faster turns. We have rather lax laws here, basically if you can outrun the police and they know it they won't bother with you. So it helps to have a car that handles well!
  3. Hi guys. I'm a MK2 owner and I've been following this forum for a year or so and finally decided to join. I've posted in the New Forum Joiners. Check it out and see what you think. View here Cheers, Pete
  4. Personally, unless I had matching front, rear and brake lights, I'll stick with the originals. I think they look ok. If someone comes out with a FULL range of lights for the mk2 then I'll take a look. I hate it when people change just front or just rear. It makes the car look unbalanced. Just my opinion though. Pete.
  5. Here you go. From european-parts.net Pete.
  6. I've had my 2.0l focus mk2 up to ~200kph (~120mph?) and it is a very smooth, fairly quiet ride. I quite often cruise at 180kph. Better ride than my old BMW325! And that's before I add the KW springs that are coming in about 2 weeks. Love living in Thailand!
  7. That's good to know for all you lucky new owners. Nice to hear that when my parts arrive it should be an easy swap. Cheers guys, Pete.
  8. No, Focus are built in a few different countries. I guess you're right. The factory producing ours maybe slow on the uptake. Mine was bought new April 2006 but that doesn't mean it was built then! Anyway, it does look like the same size and the mounting point looks the same so shouldn't have problems. I really can't understand why ford used the older design as it really is Fugly. Cheers, Pete.
  9. Well that may be in which case great, I can't wait for the replacement to arrive! THIS is what we get in Thailand
  10. As you can see, much better looking. I actually just went ahead and ordered it. The mounting point is the same so should be no problems.
  11. I was talking to Sascha at European-Parts.net and we reckon that the MK2 hatchback should be able to take the MK2 ST rear wiper which looks A LOT better. Anyone tried this? I live in Thailand so I'd rather find out BEFORE ordering the parts if they will definately work or not. Thanks, Pete.
  12. If you don't mind the interior of the Civic I would go for that, especially with the lower price, better resale value and better engine. The Mazda3 here has even less power than the Focus. And the focus is great for modifying. The new exhaust already put an extra 8bhp on and the chip I am having fitted next month has a proven extra 22bhp  After that the KW variant 1 suspension and that should be everything
  13. On my list were the Mazda3 2.0l 5door, Focus 2.0l 5door and the civic 2.0l 4door. All automatic (no choice in Thailand). The mazda3 was boring to drive so it came down to the focus and civic. The civic 2.0l is a far more powerful engine (at least the model we get in Thailand is). The focus has 143bhp but the civic has 155bhp and boy do you feel it! HOWEVER, I hated the inside of the civic. I did not feel confident in it at all. Also, everyone has a civic but very few focus owners here. And the focus is priced cheaper than the civic in Thailand because Ford have only just brought it over. We di
  14. Not a bad idea. I think I can handle the monumental task of remembering to put my seat belt on without the bloody car's help! Cheers.
  15. Ok, thanks for the info. That's what makes these Forums so worth while! Cheers, Pete.
  16. Thanks for the help. Why don't they just use PSI????? The manual reads: Tyre pressures (cold tyres) - speeds under 160 km/h - normal load 205/50 R17 - Front 230 Rear 210 Tyre pressures (cold tyres) - speeds over 160 km/h - normal load 205/50 R17 - Front 250 Rear 230 Thanks again. Pete.
  17. Thanks for that, but my manual really does state kPi in every instance (above 160kph, below 160kph, fully loaded etc). My manual is the Thailand version. Could kPi be the same as kPa?
  18. Hi everyone. My manual has the tire pressure ratings in kPi but my pressure meter reads in psi. I've looked on the 'net for conversion ratings but no luck. Does anyone know the conversion rates or can you give me an idea of what my psi pressure readings should be? I have 17" Falken 215/45Z tires. The grip is amazing and you can throw the car around like you wouldn't believe. Downside is the road noise level is higher than standard but I knew that before buying them. Thanks for any help you can give. Pete.
  19. He wrote that he has Aus spec (presumably Australian), same as we get in Thailand. I thought they would be the same as UK spec but apparently not. Body looks the same but for some stupid reason the onboard computer seems slightly different. Hence our seat belt warning chime comes on before the car has even been started where as you guys get the chime coming in at a certain speed. Pete.
  20. Hi blackls (and everyone else of course). I live in Thailand and I guess we have the same specs as you guys. I have the 2.0l duratec HE 5-door. Mine also starts chiming before the engine is even started (position II) and the seatbelt light also doesn't turn off after 10 secs like in the instructions. It drives me nuts!!!! Anyone, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, help... me... please...
