  1. vitrocmax - have you found that if you try a quick getaway, that if you manage to hit the magic flat spot revs before engaging forwad motion releasing the clutch, the car does not drive, just bogs, and you have to adjust your revs to get a driveable power delivery? I've done this a couple of times trying to nip onto busy roundabouts - bl@@dy dangerous! Me too am finding its there hot and cold, just seems less pronounced when engine is warmed up but still there and still just as dangerous if hit on takeoff :( If going for the steady takeoff I either have to just endure it or try and pow
  2. Hehe, you know you don't mean that with Lancs vitrocmax ;) Trip computer watchers plus mobile phone users behind the wheel - how about both at the same time, phone in one hand, steering wheel held with knees while twiddling with the Trip buttons and rotarys on the stalks  Going back to Autotrader - Do they get their test cars like everyone else from a random dealer or do they have it supplied directly from Ford? If the car is double checked to be perfect before going to the car mag for testing then any comments made by them are absolutely worthless for any average punter to use to gaug
  3. I just went out in my car with AC on and I feel flat spot/hesitation is probably the wrong description for it when engine is cold. More like the engine cutting out for a few tenths of a second - not good in a high compression diesel! The neighbours must wonder whats up with my driving skills  I'm curious vitrocmax - When was your car built? Is your engine a Stage III?
  4. I've just looked at the Mondeo and that too has the same problem. Has me wondering if they had done all sorts of tricks in the ECU etc for the Stage III to keep emissions down and just gave up with the Stage IV because it was causing them more trouble than it was worth for the tax saving claim in light of problems people have been having with their Stage III motors? I'm wondering if you would see a nice gain dropping your speed to 55-60 on the motorway? I did this the second time I went to the dealer on a 2 hour trip on the M1. My normal speeds are >** and the difference was about 8
  5. To be fair I have seen just short of 50mpg on the motorway doing a steady 60mph for hours on end. Problem seems that as soon as you start doing every day mixed urban kind of motoring the mpg plummets like a brick to between 33 and 37mpg. 33 with heavy boot, 37 driving like my old man  This is on a Stage III motor. Maybe things are different for Stage IV owners?
  6. Hello again, You guys really don't want me to go back over to the other side  I'll see what this dealer is like thats looking at my CMax on Monday and if they turn out to be as good as they sound over the telephone i'll give the TDCi consideration after the test driving. Tim - Thanks for the encouragement :) tdcizetec - I need reminding about the petrol mpg. Its the only thing that i'm wary of with the SCi. Looking at the mpg claims Ford make for that motor I do wonder if you would be lucky to see 30mpg doing Urban. Really would like to be seeing more. No worries guys, don't want you
  7. I think all the Ford's with AC bog down when you pull away from standing and I can live with it, but as long as I don't get the car goose necking during acceleration and no more console related errors like my C-Max i'll be happy :) I'm really struggling to find any owner info on this new "direct injection" SCi motor i'm sniffing round. I think playing potential punter at some unsuspecting dealer may be in order  Thanks for the props on the petrol. After seeing you get nearly as good mpg as me with my diesel I don't think diesel will be my next car until it has matured some more. Lol
  8. Hi Vitrocmax, The satnav is TomTom 3 running on a PocketPC with a Bluetooth GPS slipper (Fortuna). Its great running on the PPC as there's a plugin available on the net called Checkpoint which allows you to upload a database of UK Speed Camera's thats available on the internet for download. I would assume there will be something similar for Palm. I know TomTom were going to release a version that can run on Palm so may be worth you checking out their site - http://www.tomtom.com/ Its a bit more fiddly that integrated sat nav to setup, but once you have it setup its easy to use and the 3D vie
  9. peterdee - Cheers for the warm welcome to your other forum - I will be over shortly, you have been warned  Craig - I'm afraid I find the portable sat nav to be more flexible as we can use it in any car. Also I cannot afford the integrated affair :( Piccys of paupers version of sat nav:- Chris
  10. I always make fun of people who buy that kind of car just to jump puddles  I could not show my face in one of them, the shame of it. Looking at how much my C-Max is gouging at the moment I reckon a Mondy Estate in Ghia trim with silver roof rails and the 18" alloys like what they put on the Zetec S might just do the trick with a little cash injection. I can become a sales rep' wannabee, wheeeeeeee
  11. Craig, Pop http://www.ccturner.clara.net/disney.gif in the box right at the bottom of your profile and submit the change will give you to tide you over.
  12. Will do. Hope you guys won't be offended when I change my avatar  You guys need someone anyway to keep you on your toes. I'll prod you when you start slacking on pressuring Ford
  13. Justice - I rang the dealer who is doing the repairs to confirm details of the proposed fix and they told me they envisaged they would not be able to fix it as things stand. They then recommended that my best option for resolution would be to go the commitment change route. Props to them for being so helpful. A diamond among dealerships in my area. A good way to get my repair/servicing business in the future :) I then rang FCRC three times, spoke to various people, insisted on talking to someone with the authority to make decisions on cases like this, and in the end they agreed that if I take
  14. Craig - Keep up the fighting. My quiet nature could'nt stand the stress no more. Hope you can keep up the will to see yours to its eventual fixing :) Will keep in touch when things simmer down a bit. Hi blueboy2001, Sounds good. I noticed that they offer both a stage III and a stage IV of that motor. Are they both the same motor? I would hate to end up with another PAS/Ford engine by mistake. The 1.8 SCi petrol had me curious as sounded quite a frugal petrol motor with pretty good power output. I'm still very wary of going Ford diesel again. Will need a lot of persuading after my current c
  15. £220 I think. Won't know all the details till the cars repair report has been sent to FCRC and the originating dealer has sorted the paperwork. Should have a better idea mid next week all being well.
  16. Hello again, Just got off the phone to the dealers and FCRC and have decided to change the C-Max for a more proven platform. I know it won't be the same but a Mondeo estate is looking like the only solution left to me under the commitment plan. Sorry to jump ship guys but I don't have the stomach any more for this development platform testing. Be sorry to leave you guys but life goes on. I'm not gone quite yet so be prepared for one or two more posts from the resident hypochondriac before i'm through  If you guys would like to offer any advice on which petrol engine to go for be gratef
  17. Don't know what to believe myself anymore as there's so much FUD going about this car. One thing I do now know - plenty of people with this problem, Ford acknowledge it at all levels, dealerships acknowledge it. Looking back on it now I know why the dealer I test drove the Cmax floored it from cold  If he had driven it normally we would have been goose necked.
  18. pj - I've just got off the phone to Ford technical and they say they are VERY aware of the problem and they say categorically there is no fix available at present for the hesitant power delivery issue of the C-Max 2.0 TDCi. My car goes in Monday to be looked at and get latest software upgrade so will confirm this when I pick car up. Ford Technical also said that they do not know when it will be resolved.
  19. £220 for me. I feel this a price worth paying if this drags on till the end of september. hmmm?
  20. How much will they charge you for the 4000 miles? I might be tempted to take the blow to the wallet to get out of being an unpaid dev' tester for Ford. I've currently got 3000 miles on the clock.
  21. Hi Craig, Sorry to hear again no workee :( Makes you wonder why it should take so long to fix this? They've known about this for months. I'm starting to wonder if the flatspot in the power delivery will ever be fixed either  Hope you don't mind me asking - In your opinion what time scale would you deem appropriate for Ford to fix these issues/faults? I feel that 4 weeks is IMO a reasonable time scale. My car is goin in on the 26th for fixing. End of September I feel is time for full refund as the time Ford is taking to fix these issues is not reasonable. Anyone else here looked into r
  22. Hi pj, Your list looks familiar :( I have all these too except the epb. Noisy wiper blades - Mine was like this for ages until my dad handed me a bottle of Mer Windscreen Polish. I applied this cream with a soft cloth and smeared it all over, then buffed it off. This improved things but still occasionally was noisy till I repeated the stuff a second time. Now my screen is quiet when using wipers. I'm wondering if its remains of that thick wax coating they put all over the cars when they leave the factory to protect the exterior?
  23. Justice - I don't think its necessarilly duff info, its just that the useage of the term calibration is in my mind set not a very good analogy for a software update. I do wish whoever at Ford feels that the description "calibration" for what is a software update would make an effort to give it to us in a black and white description. A software update is a software update - not a calibration  I could calibrate my toilets water cystern to only fill to a level of one gallon of water - has nothing to do with engine management systems or ECU software updating, LOL  I never did get a rep
  24. thanks for bringing this up vitrocmax :) I was like a dog that had a big meaty bone thrown for its perusal :D I'll be filling up this week so will know exactly what i'm getting. First thing I will do is email them, thanks. The computer says 37mpg with me never pressing the throttle more than a couple of millimeters this tankfull. I noticed in one of your other posts your getting 35mpg from the 1.8 petrol - Do you drive like an old granny like me or are you giving it some abuse to get that figure? Chris
  25. Hello again, Justice - I think the calibration you mention IIRC was for the fuel gauge problem. At least that is what the garage called it when they looked at my fuel gauge issue a bit back. When I mentioned the "hesitation" to FCS they agreed with me when I mentioned the "September" ECU update fix FWIW. I was under the impression that the hesitation was going to be fixed by a software upgrade. FCS are liaising with the garage so I hope they should sort it all for me without me having to worry about how they approach it as they said they would need to keep my car for a few days. I don't know
