Hi All Sorry it's a bit of an old topic but is it normal to get a lower mpg in the cold weather we are having ? normally i average 45+ but lately i'm only getting up to about 38mpg ! i drive fairly carefully and dont leave it warming up for ages. also over the last couple of months its developed a quiet 'chirping' noise when lifting off changing through the gears etc never noticed it before ? ( similar to the noise the rally cars used to make when lifting off throttle like the toyota celicas etc but much quieter obviously ) might just be me ? 1.8 tdci cmax ghia 2005

thanks will look into it sounds like it might not be working gave up waitng and used a scraper instead as always in a rush in the mornings :D

Hi again everyone. Just wondered how fast the heated front screen is supposed to clear frost/ice ? I can start the car and have the front and rear heated screen on,the rear one stars working way before the front one is this normal ? (rear one stats clearing but no signs of working on the front ) cheers Andy :roll:

Hi I've got a cmax ghia 1.8 tdi and its done about 15,000 miles (bought it with 3500 miles on it ) most of the front tyre' s have about 4mm left but the front left has a patch about 4inches around or more where it's down to 1-2 mm. just suprised and wondering why it has worn like this with abs ? :o

Hi yes there is a cmax user guide, crap Fraud dealer done the same to us Andy

normally get 500 + miles out of mine too ( 1.8 tdci) computer not far out on mpg ,and i dont need it to notice how much better than my fiesta zetec s on fuel it is !! :lol:

hi click the switch up and down on the back of the left hand stalk controls and it toggles between mpg,av speed,trip etc push the one on the end and it resets averages cheers Andy

thats normal mate. makes you jump as well when it 'thumps' !!! you need to change to first unless you are rolling quite fast :D

I've got the 1.8 tdi and it's a bit noisier just when it starts up and does take around 10 minutes to warm up but i get 43-45 mpg on my short journey to work (15 miles varied speed ) my wife manages to get 55mpg out of it easy ! :lol:

Haven't had our cmax 1.8 tdci ghia that long but we are well happy with it so far, better economy than expected (being realistic and not going by brochure mpg guides !!) and great to drive.love it so far ! :D Both my local Ford dealers are absolute rubbish (had a ford before ) but use a better one a bit further away ( Underwoods Tiptree ) Andy

Hi People good to see the site up and running again :D :lol: well happy with my cmax after 2 weeks ownership except the radio ( cd 6000) in my 55 06 1.8 ghia has only got front speakers ? i thought the spec for this year was 2 rears as well anyone got any idea ? the fade/balance button only does balance, could this be because they are there but not connected ? they had the radio out before i bought it as it wasn't working at all when i test drove it.

Hi I picked up my 55 1.8 tdci ghia c max today, well chuffed so far :D just wondered if anyone knows Is there a Focus cmax handbook ? Only have a normal Focus handbook which doesn't even mention a cmax, that i've seen. thanks Andy

THink it looks good too,no one seems to know when its out they just say summer after the new mundaneo which is June app' how has your 1.8td ghia been ? i've just bought a 06 (55) which i'm picking up on friday morning any issues ?

thats nice to hear someone happy with their cmax,mines only got 3500 on the clock so it's still pretty tight feeling,unlike the car the salesman was trying to get me to buy,it was a 2.0 with 16,000 miles but seemed really second hand if you know what i mean,plus a bouncy sort off floaty ride,it did go well though but they seemed a bit desperate to shift it so it put me off,can't wait to pick mine up Friday

Picking my 06 55 1.8 tdi ghia in silver up on Friday morning :P Went out looking for a reasonable priced good specd car rather than just focusing on engine size after asking people on here were happy with their 1.6 tdi's and found the 1.8. thanks

Well i stopped talking about it and have gone a bought a C Max 1.8tdi Ghia, silver with parking sensors and leather interior, well happy with the purchase,wasn't cheap, ford direct car but nicely kitted out so I will be on here for a while,hopefully not with too many probs :lol: Drove the car, didnt go as well as the 2.0 but nippy enough,nice drive apart from a buzzing/rattling sound coming from the bottom of the heater control part of the dash where it meets the gearstick console.Dealer says they will sort it out, fingers crossed !

:?: Thanks Have you had any problems with yours everyone ? these forums are enough to put you off buying any car at all :D seems like every new car has problems. I think what you guys have replied will put my mind at rest if i do get a 1.6.was just worried it might not be enough power .
