  1. I had the dampner come off in my standard Focus and it was very simple to bet back in... However, it is much more difficult to fit it back in the C-Max I rekon, BUT there are instruction around THIS VERY forum on how to take the entire dash apart.... It actually sounded quite straight forward to me, but then again, I do like to mess.
  2. Yeah, I upgraded to the sony mp3, and when I turn the volume up to 30 using my standard speakers, the bass does get adjusted. It's funny you should mention this, as I was experimenting last wednesday to see if what I thought was happening was.... (er). Anyway, It is clear that when you reduce the volume, the bass kicks back in. Makes it difficult to listen to the HU at low volumes, because the bass is sooooooooooooo good.
  3. I went for the shallow rubber one, to match my personality... But seriously, the shallow rubber one lets you move the seats around and still gives you the non-slip, wetness protection you require. Was a little pricey, but for a perfect fit - it's a good un.
  4. Ahh.. the software! I recently took my 6000CD unit out of my C-Max and replaced it with a Sony 6000 mp3 unit... it's great...BUT I now have my old 6000CD unit and can't find the code anywhere for it. I know I was probably given it on a sticker when I got the car 2nd hand from the ford dealer, but don't want them to charge me for telling me the code which is on the computer system.... What can I do? Will the software you have reveal my radio code? Gav
  5. I think he may have been refering to the brake light if it said "Police". That would be a business class idea though.... Wonder if you could have some mechanism that was able to change the sign from a plain brake light, to one that really did say "Police". I'd buy that! The number of burks that I have seen while driving (I am sure we all have)... It would be nice to pull them over and basically give them a verbal warning!!! And a bit o beef if they get lippy. Yay
  6. It looks good. But should be on a boy racer car - not a C-Max. Sorry if it's not the answer you wanted, but you're always going to get some cocky BMW driver up your R'se.... Perhaps if it said BMW's are sh-it then I'd use my brake a little more often on the motorway!!! :o
  7. It's not an option. After over a year of looking, I found the answer. The software on the 6000 Ford/Visteon head unit has the aux input pins disabled. Your socket for the glovebox might be taped up behind the glovebox itself - tricky to get to, but it wont work with the standard head unit (Even though the head unit may state CDDJ or AUX). The way to go is FM transmitter (itrip stylee) or change your head unit. I bought a Sony 6000 mp3 (c-max) from fastfoodseller on ebay UK.... he had loads at the time (£150). Gav
  8. Yes, quite simply the 6000 (Ford/Visteon) with central volume control will NOT work with an AUX input. Or should I say... Ford have disabled the Aux input on that Head Unit. I had to go and purchase a Sony 6000mp3 C-Max head unit from ebay. So... Is the aux socket/loom hidden somewhere around the glovebox?? i.e. stuck somewhere out of the way
  9. I frequently travel the 20 miles to Preston rather than taking my car 3 miles to the Blackburn Ford Dealer. CD Bramall Blackburn - Stay Away.
  10. Ah, I think mine was taken from a 2 day old Ghia!!! perhaps it was already set up! Edit : Legally I might add... I think it came from cars which were part of a fleet that were down graded...?!?! :? Ebay - Fastfoodseller.
  11. I didn't have any problems with the Sony Mp3 player. No error messages what so ever!!! I took out the Visteon/Ford 6000CD with centre volume, and put the 6000MP3 Sony unit in. The only thing I needed to do was use the menu system to change the VIN to my C-Max's VIN. I repeat - No errors despite reading otherwise. A word of warning - The Sony IS more powerful and using the standard Ford speakers is acceptable (I am still using them!), but please note that you WILL be forced to turn the bass down a little and also you'll get a little worried when turning the volume up to 30!!! It really
  12. Buy an iPod and an in car charger/holder cradle (podgear are the best) - then slot it in place and leave it there. it will cover the unsightly lighter (DC) socket and take the power to power your iPod. Yummy!
  13. I wouldnt say I am anti diesel, but I do love my non taxi sounding petrol car. Perhaps I may buy a diesel next time around due to severe MPG differences, but to be completely above board, It does bother me about the intial momentum of the tractor engines and the noise. Gav
  14. 1.8 Zetec.... around 30 combined... 25 urban 35 motorways. Hope this helps.
  15. Righty Ho. They are TOP NOTCH! Not the standard black ones, but a silvery black colour... They wipe great. I would advise everyone to order just the replacement wiper bits, as the end bit pops off, release the metal clip and just slide the old one out... reverse the procedure for putting them back on and voila - £40 saved!!! GREAT. Just for search relevance here are some keywords: replace, wiper, wipers, c-max, aero, twin, aerotwin, bosch, halfords, ebay, cheap, split, ford, part, replacement, teflon, blade, blades, DIY
  16. The handbrake is in the same place for left and right hand drive cars... In otherowrds, Ford have jipped us Right hand drive owners...The handbrake SHOULD be next to the driver! Check out any shots of a left hand drive C-Max... It makes me mad... Plus the card holders and controls should be the other way around!!! GRR
  17. Oh, yeah! I remember it now! I was fuming at the time and couldn't quite remember how far we got with it. I'm going to try to fit them later tonight - If they have been delivered! The Bosch Aerotwin ones are a little different to normal refills arn't they? Don't they flex both ways and are coated with teflon or something really clever? Gav
  18. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... %3AIT&rd=1 here is the link to my replacements... I got 2 front sets (4 wiper bits) including delivery for around £18.50.
  19. Just rang CD Bramall Blackburn... Here are the prices. Front Passenger side : £21.23 (ex vat i think) 1348637 Drivers side : £24.99 (again ex vat) 1348642 ?!?! WOW - I am glad i ordered the rubber edge to fit myself! The only problem is that I cant see any way to get the end of the wiper off in order to slide out the old edge and put in the new. Then again, the instructions will be in German so I hope there are pictures. There's always http://babelfish.altavista.com Gav
  20. £25? That sounds GOOD! Could you please verify what they gave? Full wipers x2 or just the blades to put inside the bendy rubber thing? Thanks.
  21. Just a quicky to let those who are interested know that my passenger side wiper blade split on Thursday last week and I tried Halfords etc, but they had no wiper blades for the C-Max. I know that the Ford blades are expensive (was it above £40?), so I took to the net to find replacements direct from Bosch - Couldn't find any! But if you search on eBay you will find a German chap that sells the refills for Aerotwin blades complete with instructions on how to change them. They will be arriving this week, so I will give a complete review of the £8 refills. Has anyone any proper experience
  22. max headroom, Don't let them mess you around any longer... Call Evans halshaw in Preston and ask them if they will be able to book the car in and take over from Burnley. Tell them that they have been recommended and about how much trouble you have had with Burnley. They are independant regardless of being owned by the same parent company... they want your business and have told me to come to them (15 miles) instead of taking it the 3 miles I could to Blackburn. Put an end to the actions of Burnley... They have broken your car by the sound of it??? What next.... a new set of doors on th
  23. The Road Trip? I can only vouch for the quality of the iTrip itself and my good name cannot be placed upon a product I have not personally tested. Although the RoadTrip is made by griffin, there are other ways y'know. Check out "podgear" they do a neater unit for the car. Please bear inb mind that when you are listening to an iPod that is on charge in the car, you WILL get electrical interference... if only slightly... the iTrip is good because it works well, looks neat with the iPod when it's not on charge too! And a nice case (best in many opinions) is the iSkin evo2. (£20) rubber wi
  24. If you have finance on your car, I would press Ford in Glasgow to pay for the 4 weeks/month that you have had no use from your car. Also point out the inconvenience and any business you may have lost from lack of the larger car. If it went over a week, I would be complaining to Glasgow. Luckily for me it never has. Dealers are sharks, even the good ones... they'll try to get away with as much as possible and treat you as a number instead of a valued customer. The Job of the Glasgow customer centre is to ensure that you are given proper treatment from your chosen dealer regardless of where
  25. Yes, If you wanted a direct line in then you'd have to change the head unit. But the iTrip which broadcasts a signal to your radio is exceptionally good for an FM transmitter device!!!!! I personally bought the Sony 6000 MP3 Head unit from ebay £150... think his name was fastfoodseller and he had lots of units.
