  1. Nick- I think it happens on so many cars here and I've noticed it on other makes, I'm pretty sure its normal. (And even if it isn't, there do't seem to be any ill effects). Does no harm to ask though! Steve.
  2. Nick, now you put it like that I did notice that sometimes when you come to a halt and let out the clutch, the revs don't drop straight back down to idle speed, but hover at 900-1000 rpm for a few seconds first. I thought it was just the way engine software worked!
  3. The idle speed can change when the engine is cold and still warming up and also when the air con kicks in/out. Sure it isn't either of these? Either way if there are no other 'symptoms' it sounds pretty minor and something you could leave until the service, unless you are going to be out of warranty by that time. Steve.
  4. Too slow! http://www.ffoc.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=77934
  5. As long as its got the performance to back up the looks... The biggest problem visually is that the wheels now make those brakes look pathetically small (probably a clue as to the cars real peformance unfortunately) - either needs smaller wheels, or better - bigger brakes!
  6. Fair enough - good little hot hatch but not sure why you were considering a standard Focus as they are a bit different from a CTR!
  7. Why don't you tell him you can't decide between petrol and diesel so you need to drive both
  8. Nice write up - always good when someone takes the time to do this. Makes you think about whether splashing the extra money on extra goodies is worth it...
  9. Possibly :) - have a look here: http://www.ffoc.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=71960 Steve.
  10. See post in Main message centre - Ford have scrapped plans for an RS, whether this is temporary or permanent, not sure. Still not good news - I was looking forwards to this :(
  11. Hi GiK and welcome to the forum :D , Nice looking car you have there - a Titanium if I'm not mistaken. What engine is it? (PS: There's a new forum joiners section where you can get the traditional 'newbies' greeting from people  ). Regards, Steve.
  12. Try driving one then ask yourself that again. I drive one, and I get the answer to that question as I sail past cars costing 2-3 times as much on trackdays :) PS: Evo prices start below £25k: the higher spec'd ones cost over £30k. Given that sales seem to be pretty healthy there are clearly people who are prepared to pay it.
  13. Yes :) - if it was the right spec for the price and at least as good or better than the competition at the time (Evo X? / Scooby STI), which cost around that much.
  14. Already spotted and debated here: http://www.ffoc.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=74444 Steve.
  15. Thank God the colour is the most imprtant thing for her  Will have to have a look at a few more MkII silvers and other colours 'in the metal' after what Welshade said.
  16. Very nice mate - probably the spec I'll go for when its time to trade in my Mk I. Also the Jeans colour looks better there than in the brochures (though me & my other half are still arguing over silver vs black...) Steve.
  17. If they can't fix it then you can demand a replacement under consumer protection law as they have clearly sold you something that is 'not fit for the purpose'. Just say you know your rights as a consumer and will be having your solicitor contact them if they refuse to play ball. That should make them concentrate on fixing it :D Steve.
  18. Nice - hope Ford are serious enough about motorsport to produce something serious for the road (ie a 4wd 300+bhp RS) 8)
  19. In the Uk you pay £2,380 more than the 1.6 Zetec (or £1,780 compared to the Zetec Climate) for the 2.0 Titanium based on list prices - for me it would be worth the extra, but then I like to get the best if I can afford it and not wish afterwards I'd upgraded in the first place :)
  20. True - and if they make the diesel as fast/powerful as the petrol then they might just end up with a lot of unsold petrol versions and a shortage of diesels when most of the private punters choose the oil burner as well :D
  21. Not a hard and fast rule but the car companies usually try to avoid 'cannibalisation' ie taking sales away from one model/derivative by making another one too similar in performance. They can probably make more sales by having the petrol ST being more powerful and faster outright and the ST TDCi being slower all out but (obviously) more torquey. It would also not look good on them if they couldn't make a 2.5 petrol turbo faster than a 2.2 turbo diesel!
  22. Bas, If you haven't got ant damage to the tyre or alloy then thats a good sign, though like kevin says, always worth checking the geometry / tracking if you're feeling paranoid. Car look very nice in black, by the way 8) Regards, Steve.
  23. Thanks mate - very useful. Time to go shopping :)
  24. If that's right then good, I'd prefer 2.2 over 2.0 anyday. I doubt they would make any ST TDCi too powerful so as not to tread on the toes of the petrol ST, so output will likely be some way short of 200bhp (IMO) - though the torque will still make it a pretty good drive.
  25. Kev - where do you get these extreme white Xenons and how much mate? May have a look at these myself. Steve.
