  1. I hope not as I've just fitted the Mk2.5 interior (with silver buttons) in my Mk2!!
  2. I'd actually love to add climate control but that's so ridiculously complex and expensive to do, think I'll leave it
  3. Mods planned to finish/start this year:  Mk2.5 dark carbon fiber Titanium interior (nearly done!) Custom Superchips remap to 190bhp-ish  Code:Red intercooler  Eibach Pro kit   Full leather seats (to replace my half-leather) LED tail lights  Xenons  Cruise control  Finish putting ST bodykit (front and back) on it  ST alloys Think that'll be me done with the Focus then
  4. Actually, make that £3k as I'll probably add full leather seats too
  5. lol I didn't think this thread would last 3 pages!! Quite confusing :? They definitely do a specific Eibach Pro Kit for the diesels. You can buy it from Richardson Ford here: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... K:MEWAX:IT although I bet Tezza could get a better price. Maybe. Think I'll just stick with putting those on and the ST alloys will go on later in the Summer before our road trip to Europe! I've just worked out I've got about £2.5k more to spend on the car until it's exactly how I want it. Would have ended up costing me nearly £9k all-in but it'll be exactly what I want
  6. (Jamz - did you sell your 16" Titanium alloys? If so - how much did you get for them if you don't mind me asking?!)
  7. RB2004 - excellent digging! Thanks for being so proactive in finding that out - I've just sat on my * * * *! All makes sense. I think, given what we know, I'll just stick the standard Eibachs supplied by Ford for the 2.0 TDCI on there. Interested in the dampers also - do you know where I can get these? I'll go off to the other Forum now to ask Tezza from some prices and part numbers (he's gonna get so fed up of me!) EDIT: Is there a way to find out if my Titanium has the Sports Pack because it looks identical to the ride heights of yours Jamz, and RB2004's!? I got it second hand fro
  8. Hi pichacker. Dragging up an old thread here but was wondering if you could confirm the fact that my 06-plate Titanium TDCI has a level 1 cluster and I would need to upgrade it to a level 2 08MY one? When I did this as stated in this thread earlier, everything worked (menus, lights, etc) apart from the ignition obviously as that hadn't been coded. Another thing, though, was that the washer fluid level warning kept going. My car doesn't have this sensor so would that be a case of disabling it via IDS or would I need to fit the sensor? Just interested as I'll be going down to Essex a few tim
  9. I really don't think changing the bushes is a good idea on a road car, especially with the setup like the Focus. Just no need, but then that's just my opinion :) So have you got the sport suspension already? I was under the impression the Eibach setup was the same as the ST? The 'handling' package, or whatever? Basically - I'm just after the same setup as the ST!
  10. Cheers RB2004, that's what I was hoping to hear! I think I'll definitely be getting the Eibachs on. There's really quite a lot of roll in corners, especially round roundabouts. I'm interested in the Eibach dampers too. Guess I'll have to go into Ford and see if they'll fit my Mk2. I don't see why not - I don't think they changed any of the suspension on the Mk2.5 :?
  11. Yeah I think you're probably right actually. I know the Ford-supplied Eibachs lower my Titanium 30mm which would stick it inline with the ST's ride height. Doesn't need other shocks or anything though. I guess the lowering will just firm up the ride quality a bit but I'm a bit worried the 18" ST alloys will transmit a bit more of the road surface into the cabin. That'd be fine if our roads were like the German Autobahns but in Norfolk, the roads are appalling. That's why I have to have my alignment and tracking done every 3 months!!
  12. Oh right, I didn't realise they were two separate options. Hmmm... do all the Titaniums come with the sports suspension already then?
  13. You only need the Eibach springs on the Mk2 - they've been designed to work with the standard shocks. I'm also pretty sure that the 'Sports Suspension' is actually just Eibach springs anyway so if you have that option, you've already got the Eibachs as far as I'm aware. Could be wrong, perhaps someone could confirm? The Eibachs will be going on my 16" Titanium alloys for the time being. I won't fit the ST alloys until the Summer when I'll look at changing my tires. I only had a new set of shoes all round about 7 months ago!! The problem is, I find the ride a bit fidgety on 16s. The balanci
  14. Really keen to lower my 2.0 TDCI Titanium with the Ford-supplied Eibachs. Think it lowers it about 30mm. Main question is to those who've alread done this: what's the ride quality like afterwards? The Focus already rides very firm, but still comfortable and compliant, and I wouldn't want to upset the good ride. Mainly interested in lowering it for better cornering and looks as I'm adding the ST alloys soon. :D
  15. Well my insurance with Adrian Flux started today :D so I'm now all good for mods like that. I think it would be wise to look at the ST brakes option, especially after my next map as I'll be running somewhere closer to 190bhp hopefully. So it's as simple as fitting the ST calipers, pads and discs and we're away!?
  16. I just remember a job I had when I was younger as an ice cream man (!!). The van was an old Ford Transit and the brakes failed completely when I approached a junction. I went straight over and narrowly missed a car by inches. Luckily that was all and I managed to stop it through the gears & the handbrake but after that experience, I'd never take a chance on my own cars! (The van didn't belong to me!) Plus, with the remap and the extra power, it's probably right that I shorten the brake service interval anyway. Don't use Ford parts though - use Mintex now.
  17. I actually replace pads (and discs if needed) all round every 18 months. Roughly equates to every 25k miles. No NEED to do them that much but it's relatively cheap and brakes, like the cambelt, is something I'd rather go overkill on!
  18. I haven't heard anything particularly bad about the clutches on the 2.0 TDCI. As it's a wear-and-tear part, I should think it's entirely dependent on the abuse its had. Generally, I'd be disappointed if a clutch didn't make 100k miles. Mine's on 103k now and it's as good as a new one. I've known cars to make well over 200k on the original clutch just fine. EDIT: Then again, my mate had three clutches in 7k on his Mk5 Golf. Could say more about his driving than the car though...
  19. To be honest, the necessity of traction control isn't relative to the power of the engine. No car needs traction control if driven properly!
  20. Ah right, I didn't realise they'd revised the intake on the facelift. Odd, because I'm sure the setup in the new Mondeo is identical to the one in my Focus (the prefacelift). Hmm, will have to look under the bonnet of my father in law's Mondeo next time I'm there! So is the intake less restrictive on the new model? I noticed it has a completely different sound and character than my one but I attributed this to different sound deadening and other small alterations.
  21. I agree. For the weight of the Mk2 Focus, I'd say anything less than 100bhp is going to feel seriously underpowered. I even found the 134bhp of the 2.0 TDCI a little lethargic. It's only when you're past 150bhp that a car of this weight starts to come alive, in my opinion. It's all about power-to-weight ratios.
  22. Well my 2.0 TDCI has the usual panel air filter in a square box, not a rectangular one like the petrols. I simply replaced it with a Pipercross filter. As far as I'm aware, all the 2.0 TDCIs are the same - with the only differences being the presence or not of a DPF, which has no effect on this.
  23. My 2006 Titanium DIDN'T come with it! lol :? I'd be interested in retrofitting this too. I've run out several times! I suppose it's a case of wiring it up and maybe activating it in the computer, providing the loom's there?
  24. Thanks guys, yes I undid the gaiter and saw the bit you were talking about. I hit it with a screwdriver and a hammer and it popped back in. Brilliant! Yet another thing that the Haynes manual hasn't been able to help me with! New grille looks good anyway
