  1. Ah! right then. I will inform the MRS to make a note of the sequence next time it happens. Although I'm sure it does have something to do with the low voltage issue. My dealer has refused to do any more work on the car until the next CD arrives, then they will upgrade just about anything they possibly can, apparently! I will be asking them to do the TSB at that time too. Thanks all for the excellent help this forum provides, and glad to see I'm not the only one seeing flashing lights! :D
  2. Mastertech, this is a different TSB to the setpoint thing right? Setpoint has already been done.
  3. Well, I certainly found this post useful, as I have with all the posts regarding MPG/EGR issues. My dealer last week claimed he didn't think they actually had CD41, so not sure if I'll be able to get this upgrade done, however FMC are leaning on the dealer to try to get them to investigate our issues properly, so we will see. But I understand CD42 is almost here. Can someone tell me if CD42 also contains newer upgrade for 2.0TDCi CMAX, or should I press for the upgrade on CD41?
  4. Nick Do you know if the flashing light between the dials is related? This can occur even when the trip computer/clock has not reset itself. Does this crazy flashing actually mean something? I think this is the light that flashes intermittantly when the car is locked to show the imobilizer is working. Has anybody seen this before?
  5. I had the setpoint thing done back in January, but still the cluster and clock reset themselves. Also noticed the light in the middle of the 2 dials sometimes goes into overtime flashing when the car is first started. This goes on for about 3-5 mins. Not sure why, but it doesn't appear to cause any difference in the way the car drives. Could this be a faulty battery? Our dealer says battery is OK.
  6. No problem! Just lend us a courtesy car for a day, and we'll leave you to it :D
  7. Actually, the MRS and I fancy a trip to the Yorkshire area some time. We've been to so many parts of the UK, but not up that way. Fancy spending a bit of time around the dales :D ......damn, what did I do wit flat cap. Froglet (aka Kevin)
  8. Any shire will do, I'm not fussy!! :D seriously though, we live about 10 miles from Wellingborough. Nearest town is Rushden. So we are not that far from Bedforshire. So there's another option for starters, but if we know a dealer was very well recommended, we would go to Bucks, Beds, Cambs, Oxfordshire, geez anywhere that has a damn good dealer!! :D Froglet (aka Kevin) PS: I think my car originally came from Perrys via Ford Direct
  9. Fantastic idea :D OK, all I need now is for someone to let me know a great dealer in a great location :D Day out, here we come!!! :D Froglet (aka Kevin)
  10. Update: I have a case open with FMC, who suggested we first contact a manager at our dealer. Well, I contacted the manager last Wednesday, and he made plenty of notes, said he would look into it, and get back to me the next day. Thursday, heard nothing. Friday got a call from FMC asking if I had done what they suggested. Explained what had happened, and they said leave it until Monday, and if you haven't heard from them, we will contact them. By this morning, nothing. FMC called true to their word, :D and said they would start to lean on the dealer. Sure enough, tonight at about 18:3
  11. I can't say we have had any problems with the RAC. When the car wouldn't start because of the set point voltage problem, the RAC came out and got us going. No fuss, no problem. I'm sure if, for any reason, they couldn't get the car going, they would have towed it down to our Ford dealer. I've never had a bad experience with the RAC with other cars either. The only issue I have with RAC and AA is that they sometimes take ages to arrive. Years ago, we were members of Green Flag, and they always responded in quick time, no waiting around. :D Froglet (aka Kevin)
  12. Thanks for the link. I'm about as certain as can be that I have the figures correct, but this website will at least mean I can work things out the lazy way in future :D When I get off nights, and get back home, I'll check the figures again, and let you know if my calculations have been correct Froglet (aka Kevin)
  13. Hi guys Don't know about air filter, but the car was serviced last Tuesday, so I would hope that these things have been checked already. Also, it's a fair point about the conversion, but I have checked my figures several times over, and we are still testing at the moment. FMC are now leaning on my dealer to investigate the problem properly and the dealer is now saying they will have another look. Worrying thing is, they don't seem to think they have CD41????? Do these CD's have a staggered distribution, or do dealers get them at about the sme time? Hasn't the CD been out a couple of
  14. This is exactly the point I was trying to make. The dealer says we have all the software available. However, I don't think they have used CD41. I reckon I'll wait until CD42 and ask them to upgrade again. This is exactly why I am trying to say driving style is not the ONLY thing at play here. We certainly do not rag the car :D Infact, as has been suggested, we mostly use cruise control whenever possible, and we keep the revs as near to 2000rpm as we can. My wife is now pulling away with such little throttle that all the other cars are passing her, as they just can't 'wait' for her to get u
  15. As to Ford's quoted figures. Combined driving is quoted at 49mpg. You got 48, so I would suggest that the figures ARE fairly accurate. When we can also get above 45mpg, I will be happy :D Froglet (aka Kevin)
  16. I agree with Mastertech too. I've never suggested that this is not a big factor. But even though you couldn't reach 57mpg driving manually, you were reaching 48mpg. As I said, we would be very happy with that. My wife uses the cruise control often, as she is mainly driving on dual carriageway A roads. We are not getting anywhere near even 48mpg, so there has to be some other factors at play here. She is getting an average of 35mpg even though she is using a lot of cruise control, so I just don't see how it can ONLY be driving style. Froglet (aka Kevin)
  17. How are we supposed to know that. I assume when we take our cars to the dealer and ask them to do something about this, they install whatever software they think is going to solve the problem. As there is no way for us to check without WDS, we have to trust the service department that they have done this. I refer the gentleman to the last response. How on earth are we supposed to know? Again, we are in the hands of the dealer. Hopefully the service department does it's job properly. :D Wel, I can't speak for anyone else, but I check the tyre pressure every couple of weeks, and they r
  18. Absolutely, I haven't disagreed anywhere in my post. But the driver in this case was still getting 48mpg from his car, even after 'taking control'. We do not do much better than the 35mpg even when using cruise control set at roughly 70. I haven't ever suggested that driver style doesn't have ANY impact, just that there is more at play here than JUST drivers style If 10 of us were using the same stretch of motorway at roughly the same time, with cruise control set at 70, for 200 miles, do you really believe the results would be the same when compared at the end? I don't :!: but if an
  19. Thanks for that CT :D It's good to know that the wife definitely HAS been taking notice of where the car seems to perform best, as she is driving it as much as possible at 2000rpm, which I see is about right for the 2.0TDCi Just in case anyone is interested, here's the figures for peak torgue for diesel C-Max, taken from the Ford website: 1.6 Duratorq TDCi Diesel (Stage IV) = 1750rpm 1.6 Duratorq TDCi Diesel (Stage IV + DPF) = 1750rpm 1.8 Duratorq TDCi Diesel (Stage IV) = 1900rpm 2.0 Duratorq TDCi Diesel (Stage IV + DPF) = 2000rpm 2.0 Duratorq TDCi Diesel
  20. I think it goes without saying that driving style DOES make a difference, however, when people on the forum can say that when they return to normal driving at between 60-90 and the car returns to 47mpg. Well, we get 35mpg. Geez we must be driving the car to it's limits then! :D Actually, my wife is the only driver, and she rarely has the revs over 2000rpm. She is not heavy footed, (anymore!) and is not racing everyone off the traffic lights (on the rare occasions we actually have to stop at traffic lights). She mostly uses the car for work. A 60 mile round trip mostly on dual carr
  21. Call has been made, and a case is now open. FMC are going to lean on my dealer to do more tests, and in the meentime, we will be gathering as much info/proof as possible. Froglet (aka Kevin)
  22. It doesn't seem to matter which dealer you go to. None of them seem to want to address the fuel economy issues. The moment you bring up the subject, their eyes  They check for fault codes - No fault code, no problem :( Froglet (aka Kevin)
  23. Nope! Had previous facelift Focus diesel. Had no problems with the fuel economy on that. Was able to drive from Rushden to Isle of Skye on nearly a single tank of fuel. Infact, I think it would have made it, but filled up at Fort William just to be on the safe side :D The car is kept as much as possible around the 2000rpm mark, as this seems to produce the best (if you can call it that) results
  24. No surprise there, that's what I used to get with an MK1 Foci 1.8 petrol. Around 400 miles on a tank of fuel is about normal. But my 2.0 diesel C-Max is lucky if it manages 400 miles on a tank of fuel, which makes me VERY unhappy :( There it is again, other diesle C-Max owners getting what I had expected from ours. And all our dealer can say is 'your expecting too much' and 'if you don't like it, call FMC and complain' Not very helpful. Now that I have a few days off work (work nights) I will certainly be calling FMC about it. It's just very annoying that there seems to be such a big
  25. ROFL! I'm glad I started this thread now. If nothing else, you guys sure bring a smile to the face of a guy on night shift at work 8) Is there really no one in the Northamptonshire area who could recommend a dealer though. How about Bedfordshire, cambridshire, buckinghamshire, or even Oxfordshire, damn any shire will do!!! :D Froglet (aka Kevin)
