  1. It's all over.............................................. Ford eventually accepted commitment of my faulty Ford Focus TDCI, I have received a full refund less FMC fair usage charge (11.43 p/mile for every mile above 1000 miles but less than 6000) What can I say, the car needed a new engine to rectify the engine hesitation due to continued premature failure of the EGR valve. The engines were on back order, when they eventually arrived in the UK FMC would not release them? My whole ownership has been an absolute nightmare; I will NEVER touch a blue oval car again. I would like to th
  2. Hi The box under the seat should be the 6 disc CD changer. As for the Satellite Navigation DVD disc, it fits in a drive mounted above the glove box, access is via the glovebox the drive drops down on a hinge. The disc should go in the regular cd-intake but the unit will just spit it back out again as an unrecognised format. Regards
  3. The EGR valves appear to be failing prematurely due to carbon deposits. The EGR has a self clean, it heats up to burn off any residue but it obviously cannot cope with the volume of deposit. I hope that the EGR replacement solves your problems. In my instance the replacement of EGR valves became a ritual to be suffered ever 300 to 400 miles. I wish you luck!
  4. In my case, after the replacement of 4 EGR valves, the engine was declared u/s. The hessitation issue is nearly always initially diagnosed as an EGR valve failure or fault. I find it strange that your dealer has not replaced the EGR valve as an attempted repair. I am not sure what effect disconnecting the EGR valve will have on the cars performance? I know the EGR valve is positioned at the rear of the engine and took the dealer a full day to complete the first replacement, not as accessible as the mondeo. Speak to Antmat, he has quite a lot of knowledge on car injection systems, very help
  5. Yes, there is a fix for this problem!! In my case it was diagnosed as a badly breathing engine, clogging the emissions control system and causing premature failure of the EGR valve. Has the EGR valve been replaced on your car? How many miles have you covered? Replacement engines have been in the country for 4 weeks but are not, allegedly, being released by FMC? Don't be fobbed off by the dealer service dept. take it back and take the service manager for a test drive in the car. If your local dealer is really poor, any Ford garage can complete warranty work on your car which this clearly i
  6. Hi Minsterman My focus was exactly the same (on the min mark) when I received it from the dealers. I asked the same question, that you have posted. Basically the orange/pink anti-freeze is OAT or Organic Acid Technology anti-freeze. http://www.fordpartsplus.co.uk/phoenix.asp?PAGE_ID=1788 This should not be mixed with conventional glycol based (blue or green) anti-freezes, similar to the one mentioned on your post. Mixing these can either promote corrosion of aluminium or stop the corrosion inhibitor properties of either products working. The car should leave the factory with a 50/50
  7. Looks like I'm singing Antmat's tune 'Hey ho, hey ho........................' :D
  8. I'll update the post when/if I achieve a solution. I still do not have the car I purchased, I have a hire car. Out of a total of 22 weeks ownership, I have only had the car in my possession for 14 weeks. We live in a sad world, whatever happened to 'the customer is always right?' I must say I have had my eyes opened to some interesting facts along the way but I suspect that Ford Motor Company frequent this site regularly, so I'll leave it at that for now!! Gasman.
  9. Welshade You do not have to take the car back to the originating dealer for any warranty sponsored work, this can be done at any Ford dealer. As for stopping payments, not to be advised. (Credit rating etc) I spent ages looking for a new car, the new Focus 2.0 TDCI with a stack of extras was the one for me. If the vehicle had remained reliable, I would have been on this forum singing its praises (if that makes me a hypocrite!). Alas with all manufacturers, Ford are not unique on this one, a lemon is born at the factory. The grief and burden an individual suffers when this happens is, in
  10. Just read your post Kevin, I imagine the lamp upgrade makes a significant improvement on the adaptive headlamps. The positioning of them on the road is faultless, I just prefer the crisp light of the xenons over the adaptive halogens. With reference to the legallity of adaptive xenon's, I'll pass on that! One of my friends has a Lexus RX300, it has adaptive xenon lighting. We car share to work on alternate days and therefore have a direct comparison between Ford's adapative lighting and Lexus. IMO the standard halogen in the Ford lets it down. (this could be a legal restriction?) I unders
  11. They are pants compared to non adaptive Xenons! (In my opinion). Adaptive Xenon's are wicked (Lexus have them) but unfortunately not a Ford option.
  12. I have a courtesy car with adaptive headlights, I have noticed the same. The headlamps are dirty at the moment, so the effect has gone!!
  13. Hi pagewrite, I hate to say this but my whole new Focus TDCI nightmare started in this same manner. Please read the following post: - http://www.ffoc.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=85592 The latest is that I have not seen my £21K car for 4 1/2 weeks, as it needs a new engine and I am travelling the mine field to vehicle rejection. Good luck gasman
  14. Latest.............. I've not seen my new Focus for the last 3 1/2 weeks; it now looks as if I am being committed by Ford!!! The dealer has been requested to completed Ford Commitment paper work, however, it is unclear if FMC are looking at a 'like for like' replacement or refund? This is assuming that they actually accept rejection of the car. I cannot believe how long these things drag on but I will be there to the bitter end!!! Will keep you posted.
  15. Following discussions reference legal action and further to a chat with the dealership, the finance company have referred the matter to the Ford Executive Office? Not quite sure what this means. I have previously given the dealership a letter, giving 14 days notice to a full effective lasting repair, that expired a few weeks ago. They did not reply in writing. I will take this to court if I have to. There is a principle at stake here and I know I am right. Cheers Gasman
