When is the updated model due for release? To be honest, I didn't realise that Ford were looking at making any changes (as subtle as they are)

Steering wheel leather flaking/rough?
tesscott6312 replied to phill79's topic in MK2 - Ford Focus 2005 > 2011
I do understand that last comment, but leather is leather and does need to be looked after. The conditioner I use, if used sparingly and allowed to soak in, does not leave the wheel too slippery. I think you are probably refering to the silicone type coatings that leave a gloss type finish. -
Know what you mean about the glasses holder. There is only my wife that seems to be able to open it, and that's only because of her perfectly manacured tallons. Dont think I will ever find a use for the top dash storage. In my opinion, it is only going to cause more rattles and vibration. The knob in my Ghia is a little on the bland side, so will be changing it before long for a the one shown below which I am told is an easy job to change over (famous last words !)

Retro fit a roof mounted DVD - can you?
tesscott6312 replied to disney_cjd's topic in MK2 - Ford Focus 2005 > 2011
How about making them watch National Geographic. Does that suit both parties ? Shut's them up (as TDCiGHIA said) but helps them have a wider knowledge of the world! -

Very well said ! How about keeping count of Eddie Stobart wagons. I must admit that the constant "Are we there yet" questions from the back seat have made be consider one of these devices. -

The roof monted one that was a cost option uses mountings to the roof structure (which I presume are there on all models) but the roof lining is modified to suit. It has a recess to suit the DVD position. Sounds like you may have to remove the lining to gain access. Sounds like a job for the proffesionals, especially as the lining has the curtain airbags etc. -
Steering wheel leather flaking/rough?
tesscott6312 replied to phill79's topic in MK2 - Ford Focus 2005 > 2011
I think it all depends on what sort of abuse they have had. If you keep the leather clean and conditioned, you should have no problems. Leather flakes when it is allowed to dry out. Then again, it could always be faulty leather. May be worth speaking to your dealer. Have a look on the "Liquid Leather" website or look on Ebay. They show before and after shots of dry flaky leather that has been treated with their special conditioner. If the pictures are anything to go by, you may be able to get them back to a reasonable condition. -

I am sure you have thought about this, but would it not be easier to buy one of the portable ones that attaches to the back of the headrest. At least that way, you can remove from the car when not in use. Thought about getting one for my son this christmas. I think there are also ones that can be mounted onto the centre console. -
You are probably right, especially as they are wheel mounted and fairly easy to catch without realising.

Wind Noise From Windscreen
tesscott6312 replied to tesscott6312's topic in MK2 - Ford Focus 2005 > 2011
Yes, but about twenty miles away. Still think it is a better option than returning to today's jokers. -
The only trouble with the Autoglym cream is the smell that you are left with. Something close to cat pee in my opinion. The Liquid Leather is much better. This is the only product I have found that really brings out the natural leather smell. Plus, there are some great deals on Ebay for it at the moment!

Have had my car into the garage today for the rear wiper recall + supposed updates for both ECU and dash. I also asked them to inspect the front door seals as they make one hell of a racket. When I picked up the car this evening, I was told that the noise was not coming from the doors, but it was wind noise from the windscreen. The service guy explained that this was a known fault on the C-Max and it should be no problem to sort out on the warranty. Problem is that they do not have a body shop and could I take it elsewhere. The thing is, I know full well that it is the front doors that are at

Cmaximus, Have also had my motor in the garage today for the recall plus software updates. Have just checked the dash and guess what, no update. The car does not run any different and so can not tell if the ECU was updated. Did the garage let you know what they had done?

Personally, I think the leather in my Ghia is far better quality than what I had in my Peugeot 307 XSi. Within twelve months, even though I really looked after it, the leather started to crack and dry out. While still under warranty, took it back to Peugeot and was told that they were all like that and I had nothing to worry about. To cut a long story short......I sold it not long after, swearing that I would never buy another Pug !

Just a quicky, Not sure if this one has been asked before, but with regards to the cruise control : The C-Max manual states that only one button needs to be pressed to activate, but I know through experience that you have to press two. Starting with the ON button on the left-hand side of the steering wheel and then the SET button on the right. Is this right, or do others out there only have to press once for theirs to work?

Thought for a minute that you had some sort of weird variant that none of us knew about.

Andy, For your records, that's a TDCi LX

I really hope there is, as mine is going in to the garage on monday. I seem to be averaging between 32 and 34mpg which I think is bloody awful even considering the 2.0 litre engine.

Attention All Ghia Drivers !

Apart from stripping it down, I'm completely stumped as to what to do next.
