  1. My problem is that it will not let me put in the code! As soon as I press the 1 button for the first digit it returns to playing the radio!
  2. Just thought I'd better say that I'm not advocating shouting/ swearing /insulting someone to get results as this is not the way to go. Simply explaining my dissatisfaction and putting across how I had brought in a car with perfectly functioning brakes and had it returned in a dangerous condition and how there was no way I would have sent my wife off in a car with brakes that I wasn't totally happy with had I done the job myself etc etc. I felt as though I had been taken seriously and I am satisfied with the outcome. Matter closed.
  3. Well, I bought that stereo, slotted in fine and works well. What I need to know is what exactly needs setting up on it at Ford dealer. I asked them to set it up when I had the car serviced and they said that they had 'reset' it . I was under the impression that the car's VIN number needed putting into it but when I scroll through to 'VIN number' in the menu and select it it says 'code ---- ' but when I try to put the code in again it just returns to normal radio playing. What should happen?
  4. Got onto the service manager first thing this morning who asked his monkey what he'd done. He'd said that rear shoes just needed bedding in - yeah right . I saw red!.. I insisted that there must be air in system still as brakes needed pumping to get resistance. Anyway, Got him to re-bleed brakes, refund my £106, bed the brakes properly and deliver the car to my wife's workplace ( he'd have to take it on a stretch of motorway). All seems ok, but it shouldn't have happened
  5. Took my 1.6 tdci Ghia in today for it's 2nd service plus the boot handle fixing, interior child view mirror fixing and to have my new radio set up. I got a call to ask if I wanted the rear brake pads replacing (worn) (about £100 !)and brake fluid replacing (about £40 )to which I agreed. I was also told that FMC wouldn't pay for the mirror as it was classed as trim and car is 2 yrs old even though it is a known fault! and that I should take it up with customer relations. Is this right? We went to collect the car and pay the final bill which came to a staggering £311. They said that they had
  6. I've just taken my 1.6 Tdci Ghia in this morning for 2nd service plus other jobs and they told me that it needed this update/recall !!
  7. Tesscott, this is what you want, just click on 'vehicle enquiry' http://www.vehiclelicence.gov.uk/EvlPortalApp/index.jsp
  8. What reg no did you enter into Dvla website?? For GF04CFM I get 1997cc, silver, diesel, 148g/whatsit etc.. I agree, Ebay account must be bought/stolen
  9. Listing says Petrol, Manual but lower down it states Tdci and 4 speed auto(!?) Could also be a repaired write-off hence low price.
  10. I had to file 2 small groves in the aero bar for each clamp on my roofbox. What I don't like about the bars is that when they're not fitted you have to make sure you don't lose the bolts and little rubber bits and when they are fitted you have to make sure you don't lose the covers for the roof!!. I have seen better designed setups on a whizzpopper. Also I never remember which mount has the long bolts and which one has the short ones
  11. That kind of ice cream causes fuel pump problems
  12. Just thought I'd add a few reasons why I chose the C max over the sc*nic; 1 The wipers on a scenic wipe the 'wrong' way - not good for tall drivers 2 That big quarter light on the front door - can you actually reach to fold in/wipe snow off the mirror etc. 3 The styling of the scenic may be more trendy but will look odd years down the line. 4 Sce*ic EPB on the 'wrong' side didn't seem very convenient. 5,6,7..etc I had an astra estate and my wife had a small car before the C max. I am 6'2", She 5'2". We can both comfortably drive the C max. (no, not at the same time) The astra w
  13. Well mine does both! - Won't open with switch on handle and when you do get it open it starts opening itself randomly once I've set off!! It's going in for service this month so that will be one of the things that I'll ask them to sort.
  14. Has anyone seen one of these 6 disc players? I realise it wouldn't be as good as the sony but would hopefully be cheaper. Would it fit? Would it still require dealer to set up with wds? Could it have an aux socket connected up? Lots of ?'s, Sorry TIA
  15. I emailed the seller to ask him why he was selling it and he said because it didn't fit his dash. I concluded that it must be for a c max/focus. However, looking at the picture now, the grey band at the bottom below the main black shiny screen looks deeper/wider than ones I have seen for c max and removal slots seem to be in the mondeo position so I think I'll give it a miss.
  16. Has anyone seen one of these? My dealer didn't know anything about them. Incidentally, do all models have that cover over the underside of the middle seat? There isn't one on mine- you can see the handle and cable etc. Is mine missing?http://www.ford.co.uk/spg/getImage.asp?imageName=SPG_3_28_0_24658.gif&filename=CMAX---armrest.jpg
  17. I am looking to replace my standard ford cd radio with the sony 6 cd changer type. I have seen a few on Ebay but how can I be sure that it is definitely the 6 cd unit for a C max. Which numbers do I need to be asking for? Thanks in advance. :)
  18. Key - depends what sort you are after. I paid £43.55 for key blank and remote plus about £75 for key cutting and remote programming/ coding. So about £120 altogether. This is for the flip type key but I don't think that the ordinary 3 button one would have been much cheaper. ( No doubt someone will have got one cheaper ?)
  19. Like you, I drive a kangoo ('car') every day and my wife gets the c max and although the kangoo is nippy it's great to drive the c max when I can. It's so much more of a car (despite problems) :)
  20. Yes, mine is always frozen on frosty mornings. I have to use the fob or the key to open it when it doesn't work. Is this another recall looming?
  21. The problem with the cruise control is that it maintains a constant road speed rather than throttle pressure therefore when you begin to slow down going up a hill it tries to give it more juice to maintain speed. I think you understand what I'm getting at. Not necessarily applicable to your test though. I get 52 -53 mpg with 1.6 tdci on a long run with full load on replacement engine ( don't ask  !!)
  22. Yes , I was told at a dealer that it is an older engine with euro 4 which he says has been introduced due to the shortage of 1.6 and 2.0 units !? Mind you he also told me that the new c max will be called 'D Max' due to someone else using the C Max name ( not sure about this one!?) and also that the C Max Style edition is just an LX with alloy wheels ( complete rubbish as it doesn't even have alloys !!) So who knows? Does anyone know anything about these 1.8 engines ? Were they reliable and robust? My concern about uprating an older engine to euro 4 is that it's asking something of it that it
