  1. Ditto, that. So long and thanks for all the help. :) 5,4,3,2,1...............(Tumbleweed)
  2. Sorry, I don't quite follo the pictures of the tool you've posted. Is the black disc on the first pic an extra part that you've had to make or what? Sorry if I'm missing something here! :? as you say 'simple modifications' TIA
  3. I'm fairly sure that I've only unplugged wires for seat heater and motor switch etc. as I'm only lifting the seat base and the airbag is part of the backrest. :? Anyway, new motor will be £108+VAT ! :( Seems as though manual one is only avaible as part of seat frame so it could be worse! I know what you mean about all the toys breaking down but I really needed one with EPB so ther was no real option of a LX or Zetec secondhand. I still like this car though!
  4. OK so I've been out tinkering in the cold by torchlight. It turns out that seat base/cushion is held by 2 bolts at front, then lifts up and out (after unplugging a few wires) improving access loads. I can now drill out rivets to get motor unit off. Motor gear had lost a few teeth (in sealed housing) and spewed a few bits through the casing! Not looking forward to pricing up a new motor unit at Frauds on Mon. though.
  5. The electric height adjuster on my seat has broken. Think it has broken some teeth off the cog in the motor drive. Anyone any ideas? Has anyone had these seats aparts at all as the motor drive is riveted onto the seat base and would have to dismantle seat to get to them! Do i need to worry about anything about the seatbelt tensioner or airbag wires if I remove the seat? Help!! I'm 6'2" and my wife 5' so need this working ASAP! Could I replace it with a manual adjuster or are they completely different? TIA Eddie
  6. 1.6tdci will easily do 60mph in 5th which should give you best mpg - in region of 65mpg as Andy says. Go up to 70mph and it will be more like high 50's mpg. A light foot is better for high mpg than using cruise control as it will try to maintain the speed going up hills and lose you mpg. Of course, mpg also depends on other factors- loading and driving style etc.
  7. The hand book is incorrect, I took mine into the dealers just after buying it with the same complaint!
  8. No lights on cruise controls - there are small pimples on some of the buttons -like braille
  9. I'll swap you a set for my Ghia alloys......
  10. I have bought keys and remotes off Ebay (new ones) and had them programmed by ford without batting an eyelid. Setting up remotes is easy, it's having the key cut and programmed to start the car that costs lots of pennies. I think Keith is just after a remote fob to use.
  11. Tony Blair? Come on, get with it!!
  12. See my post. Web Page Name. Apparently reverse switch and 1 sensor were replaced(under warranty)
  13. Caught a glimpse of the new c max telly advert last night. Doesn't show much of the car at all.
  14. I've just found you all again, My shorcut in favourites to this site had not been working for ages so I assumed site was down. Ran a search and found it. Has the Url changed or something Anyway, I have just noticed a small star crack in the element area of my heated windscreen. Can it be fixed as per normal or does it need special attention?( no, I don't mean with a brick! )
  15. Interestingly, My Kangoo DCI (1.5 '03 43k ex P.O) recently started losing power and putting the glow plug light on whilst driving. Cleared by restarting. It does it now and then. So these are not immune to probs I'm afraid! Not had any of the EGR probs with my Cmax though (yet!)
  16. Just forked out £306 inc VAT for service inc. £50odd for MOT. This includes Oil, air and fuel filter changes, Semi-skimmed, sorry semi- synth oil and pollen filter. Looks like I'll be doing it myself next time. They rang me up to see if I wanted to pay out £ 64 (!!!!!) for new front wiper blades plus screen wash which I had topped up that morning. I'll be getting refills for the wipers off ebay I think. Also, interstingly, according to the check sheet, my tyres tread depth has actually increased since last time. They must be the best kind of tyres to have! I consider this one of the bette
  17. I had a similar incident where the key slipped out of my pocket just as I was, er, 'visiting' the toilet and you can guess where it landed, splosh! Seemed to survive though!
  18. I had ours 'done' last year as it was opening on the move/not opening when it should, but this morning switch was frozen solid. Am I right in thinking that a modified seal should have been fitted or would it just have been like for like? I am concerned as warranty expires soon.
  19. Ditto. Switch is fitted where hazard light switch is located but is only fitted as an option.
  20. I think a darker colour makes the cars shape look better as the black bits (bottoms of bumpers, rear spoiler, lower grille etc) seem to blend in better. Has anyone tried colour coding the black bit at the bottom of the bumper? Would be interested to see what it looked like on a silver car. Photoshop anyone?
  21. 72 mpg at 80mph ! Was the engine actually switched on?! Best I've managed is about 68 mpg at 60 ish mph.
  22. The rear parking sensor on my car has started intermittently not working or on occasions it makes a very high pitch bleep as soon as reverse is engaged! It has already acquired a small dent at the rear when my wife got too close to a skip! I am hoping that it is covered on 3 year warranty (runs out in March) Any ideas? If so I'l take it in soon as there is a clonking coming from driver's side suspension when going over lightly uneven ground that needs sorting as well TIA
  23. press and press hold the lock button on remote closes any windows left open
