  1. Is this on the inside of the car, I presume. Not noticed a problem with noise but a bit more insualtion is not to be sneezed at.....
  2. Seems ambiguous what lamps are in my Zetec now. Brochure is not clear but manual seems to say I have Halogen lamps already
  3. Cheers. I actually read the manual for the first time in my life. It shows how, when and what. Looks straight forward for a change. Confirms the HI and H7 for dipped and main. I guess you change both if you are upgrading to Xenon or bright white or is it enough to just change the dipped? Difference between £24 and £48 I guess. Pays your money.......etc
  4. doh! Osram Silver Star H7 is the one I mean @£24.95 a pair
  5. Read a couple of threads about replacement bulbs for the headlights. Like the idea of more powerful headlights as its one of the more valuable upgrades you can do. Thing is on a new Max Zetec what type of bulbs are they , H!, H7 etc tec Also I fancy the Osram Silver Plus H1 which give apowerful white light 50% more than standard. This seems to indicate H1, any advice please?
  6. Shouldn't affect insurance I agree. Its not a performance mod but it does change the vehicles handling and all insurance companies inisist that they are notified of any changes to the "standard" vehicle. Warranties are another issue and I would have thought that any VAT registered garage could fit them under the "block exemption" rule as long as they use Ford approved parts, which these are of course.
  7. The colour wax is fantastic for that
  8. I agree that the Zetec wheels are the best of the bunch and as a bonus easy to clean. Its no effort every 3 days giving them a wax wash and rinse. As tesscott says its a shame to let them get grubby. Nice wheels as well by the way. Wife has a new black Yaris with really cute alloy wheels that are a doddle to clean as well. Even slightly and even heavy brake dust corroded wheels can be as good as new. Saw the trick on Wheeler Dealers, scotch pad and T-Cut. Rub away for all you're worth and it takes the pitted alloy back to clean alloy without actually "sanding" the alloy down. Lifts all the c
  9. Its too even for that. Could just be road dirt but its too even for that as well. I'm not concerned but I have never owned a car where front and back produce dust. I'm sure there are aero dynamic reasons why back wheels never collect dust but its still a mystery why the C-Max does
  10. Not a problem but I notice both the front and back wheels seem to get an equal coating of brake dust after a couple of days. Its a new car so perhaps when the pads have worn in it will improve. I don't mind washing the wheels every couple of days as its a , sadly, satisfying job but why front AND back dirty? Seem to remember a thread where this was mentioned but have other noticed this?
  11. ..or even telling her which would be my approach. Thats the bit that puzzles me. Insurance and Wararnty. Do they sell these springs at Ford?
  12. I think its several years before child abuse becomes an issue
  13. Went for the rubber one instead. That looks nice though
  14. Not having a Ghia and excluding some of those, all of the above. Which is why my ironic post on "Things I hate about my C-Max" was, well, ironic. Great car. I am so pleased that I bought it, rode out the "did I do the right/wrong thing " emotion. Got a bargain as well. Sweet....
  15. You can buy just the Xenon /halogen bulbs of course...
  16. 24 in my case, I get excited by the window models at M&S  I should have my new knob early next week. I'll take pictures when I install it and put them here. Mind you it will look like the pic above so I will be well pleased
  17. Tee Hee! Chap next door has a Skoda Octavia with XEnon lights. Very, very intense bright light. A bit dazzling for on coming cars or if you're in front of them. He's just put them on for me. Not convinced although he loves them. There was an initial move to make them illegal a few years back but that got nowhere for a change which is good.
  18. I'm glad the sight of a "knob in situ" does it for you tesscott..........
  19. I think they're like the Klingons distant cousins, the Xenons.
  20. Mmmm. Thats suspension, steering, wheels etc. Might just wait until warranty is over.....3 years!
  21. Forgive the basic questions. Do I just buy the springs and go to any garage etc etc to fit them with no warranty/insurance issues? I've seen a C-Max fitted with these and the car looks great and not THAT low
  22. Give a few days and I'll feed back when I fit it. General point of the thread was that I am very happy with my C-Max. the problems raised, whilst true, were mentioned slightly tounge in cheek. This is a fine car and at £12.4k new a bargain in my mind. Only concern I have really is if the minor lack of oomph in 1st and second is gearing and if so then OK I'll accept that its a different drive from my old car. Or will it disappear when the engine is looser. Say at 8k or so. It feels like gearing to me but it still accelerates absoulutely fine so I'm not really complaining. Colleague ha
