  1. Errr no way to get this to work on your Focus unless it complies to the above. Global closing is not standard on 3dr cars unless you buy the Titanium or ST and spec global closing or opt for Keyless entry where global closing is included as part of the package (apparently). If your mondeo has electric windows all round and they are all one touch up and down then you should have global closing.
  2. Global Opening / Closing is exactly that. It also includes the powered sun roof if fitted. For you to have global closing, you must have electric windows on all doors (3 or 5dr) and you must also have one touch open/closing on all windows. This is where the window will open and close without having to hold the button by just pressing/pulling the button firmly (you will feel a click as the one touch open/close is engaged). To prevent fingers being trapped, all windows will have anti-trap features (If something is in the way the window will stop closing and drop an inch or so). If you have
  3. I wouldn't buy a car without xenon now. Once you have a car with them, you will never go back. Having said that do you do alot of night time driving? I do loads in the winter months and the roads are not at all lit so very important for me. If all you do is day time driving and around town at night then it is really down to whether you can afford them.
  4. I have been running my Denso Satnav system (with advanced bluetooth and external CD Autochanger) for a couple of months now and have noticed the following issues. Have anyone else noticed any/all of the following: 1) I think I have the latest map software (2005/2006 disc) as it has the M6 Toll road on it. The problem is that although my route preferences are set to avoid toll roads the sat nav still tries getting me on the M6 Toll at every opportunity. 2) On the occasional route, the voice navigation goes very quiet (even though the navigation volume is correctly set). The only way to get
  5. Search and you shall find ;) http://www.ffoc.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=125315
  6. Just as a final update to this thread, I have fitted the autochanger (few months back). The Connects2 interface was unable to talk to the Denso DVD SatNav as the CAN BUS just would not recognise it. Although they spent a whole day looking at it and taking readings, they just could not get it to work. The Ford autochanger worked first time though. In view of this I purchased a Ford Autochange which was twice the price of the Sony equivalent. I mounted it under the parcel shelf support in the boot (out of the way and takes up no room at all). I also had to make up a loom cable as this is not a
  7. @dtiddy 1) Autolocking is not a feature of the Mk2 Focus as yet.
  8. Apparently the alarm can be enabled and disabled using the manual key lock. To enable the alarm you turn the key to the locked position twice within 3secs and the car will double lock and alarm set. To disable alarm and unlock car just turn the key to unlock once. If it is not doing this then you could have a problem.
  9. Hehe I have noticed this too. Am always driving along with them flashing as in bright sunlight you can barely see the flashing arrow and with the stereo up you can't here the clicking. lol
  10. Aye F80 is the battery saver / interior lights.
  11. Aye global closing is now an option on the ST and standard on the 3dr Titanium. Comes as standard if you go for keyless entry.
  12. If you don't have the connectors then the only way to get the official ford ones would be to buy the whole loom.....which will be very expensive.
  13. I suppose you could look at it that way although as has already been confirmed, most cars in the US have this feature as standard and more and more are offering this in the uk unless it is already standard (as with all Mercedes cars). I am sure if this feature posed a major health risk then it would have been banned by now and certainly not standard on some cars. Regardless of this, the fact remains that the Mk2 Focus does not currently have this feature but hopefully it will at some point....maybe in time for the RS if that ever appears. :D
  14. Only issue with that is that the Sony head unit will not read the HDD. The glovebox aux socket only carries analogue audio.
  15. Lol this is the funny thing cars fitted with central locking, auto open on impact so even if you have not enabled the auto-locking, lock your doors before driving off any then have a crash, your doors should unlock automatically.......anyone fancy testing this? ;)
  16. True. The connector cable becomes the aerial so this would need to be exposed. I suppose it would have to be a suckit and see.
  17. Re 3 I think you can arm/disarm the alarm system with the key. I am not 100% how but will have a look in the manual. I think it is turn and holding it in the open/closed position depending whether you want to arm/disarm.
  18. If you want DAB in your car, you can get yourself a portable DAB player (such as http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASI ... 43-1763917) and plug it in the MP3 socket in the glovebox.
  19. The headlights are very easy to remove and change bulbs. My list of annoyances: 1) Left handside handbrake. 2) No standard one touch up and down windows on the 3dr ST (you have to spec them). 3) Water trap on rear boot between screen and boot lid so that as you lift the boot a torrent of water poors in. 4) Creaking door seals on 3dr (I think it affects the 5dr too). 5) Bugs on satnav system (e.g. Toll Roads disabled but still plans routes including M6 Toll).
  20. @nickwells I think you may be incorrect here as this feature is pretty much standard on all Merc's in Europe. All this feature does is auto lock the door from the outside when the vehicle speed exceeds the pre-determined speed and it does not dead lock the doors. In the event of an accident, anyone wanting to get out of a vehicle can do so as normal, by pulling the interior handle. Also, in the event of a crash the doors unlock automatically so emergency people can get in without problems. Also America (probably the most litigious country in the world) do require this feature to be availa
  21. Aye it is definitely not for the CD-Autochanger as this is fitted under the passenger seat on all mk2 Focus' so if the loom was in place then it would be there and not in the boot.
  22. and then translate it back to english for us ;) :D
  23. If it can be enabled then we are going to need the precise instructions to enable us to talk through the procedure with our local garage. The few I have tried have all been unable to find the appropriate setting even after referring to their local Ford Technical expert.
  24. Apparently there is no auto-locking feature to enable on the Mk2 Focus.
  25. Global closing is now available on certain 3dr models such as the ST and Titanium. It is also part of the keyless entry option if you go for that. Auto locking is a feature that has been standard on Mercedes cars for years. As your speed exceeds 5-10mph all doors and boot lock and remain locked until they are manually opened from inside the vehicle (or in the event of an accident when they auto-unlock). They only autolock once and if you manually open the doors after autolocking, they will not lock again until the next journey (ignition off/on again). Apparently this feature is a legal requ
