  1. Got my windscreen replaced today, in addition to this, paintwork around the left-hand side of the screen has been chipped! Can't be asked to complain, hope I do'nt have to use them again. I also noticed that the shaded area between the sun-visors on the replacement screen appear less thick? I'm sure the original was at least about 3"+ and more noticeable, the new one looks like a little thin strip! Glad that it's done, but do'nt really rate Autoglass in all honesty.
  2. Not the result I expected, Autoglass arrived this afternoon with the wrong windscreen. The bloke was friendly enough, but noticed straight away that the replacement screen had a rain sensor for auto-wipers. My Focus (Zetec climate) only has the heated elements in the windscreen, so it has been re-booked for tomorrow. Interestingly he told me that this was his 3rd incorrect windscreen for the day! Does not inspire much confidence in the firm, but I'll withold judgement until tomorrow. :x
  3. Prior to buying my Focus, I read loads of road tests / reviews and one of the main annoyances quoted was the lack of a foot rest. Since owning the car though, I love using the gears frequently just because the action of gearbox / clutch is so well weighted & fluid. I do'nt miss the foot rest at all!
  4. Thanks guys for all your feedback, can't wait until it's repaired tomorrow.
  5. This morning my windscreen got a lovely crack down the middle, caused by a flying stone from a dumper truck on the A13. It's being replaced on Monday by Autoglass via Direct Line Insurance. Has anyone else used Autoglass for a replacement windscreen, and was it free of leaks etc afterwards? I'm well gutted and have doubts about it being the same as the factory fitted one.
  6. Not on anything mate, as your quote states "my" list of faults, which at this moment in time has not affected my Focus. The design flaw issues of water dripping into the boot etc are well documented, and I have posted relevant comments on the topic. If or when I have any issues which spoil my ownership experience I will not hesitate to post on this forum. Until such time I will continue to enjoy driving my Focus and share my enthusiasm of the car with others.
  7. I have owned my Focus for just over a couple of months now, and today I sat down and tried to find fault with any aspect of it (design, economy, fit / finish etc ). The only noticeable thing from my experience is how easily the lower plastic trim (dashboard / doors ) scratches. The centre console has a couple of scratches, the culprit being the edge of a sports bag. Still a great car though!
  8. Alright Jonny, I've got the same spec (with 17" alloys ) / engine and have not posted for a while because i've been out enjoying the car so much! Every journey however mundane is a pleasure (like others, I always take the longest route back home ) because of the fluid actions of all the controls and the surefooted responses. Like a lot of Focus fans, I initially thought the looks were slightly subdued, but the new Focus is a grower. It lacks the "In your face" looks of the original, but I think if it had a German badge on the bonnet, the critics would discribe it as handsome or attractively u
  9. This has also happened to me about an hour ago! Driving down the M11 from Stanstead I heard a clunk, sounded as though it came from under my Focus (2006 Zetec ). Thought nothing of it until it happened again and my mate pointed out the message display "LUGGAGE COMP OPEN" which I had'nt noticed as I was enjoying the drive so much! Now wondering if I closed the hatch properly in the first place, will watch it closely over the next few days. Still loving it though!
  10. Hi all, after nearly 4 weeks ownership I have discovered something new on my Focus. This afternoon while stretching to slam shut the rear hatch, I noticed there are 2 internal handles at the base of the hatch which eliminates the need to stand on tip toe to close it! Like the handy little hook on the petrol cap ( mentioned on here ) I overlooked it. Still enjoying my car and discovering all of its clever details that are not obvious even after 4 weeks ownership!
  11. Most indicator stalks have to be "clicked" into position, but on a lot of new whizzpoppers you only have to gently tap the stalk for it to indicate. It's not so much of a problem when taking corners as they self cancel, but lane changing on the motorway is positively dangerous! Too often when you want to cancel it after changing lanes, you end up indicating the other direction accidently, totally confusing anyone behind you!
  12. Me likewise. I have just been to fill up and lo and behold there it was!! How I never noticed it before I don't know!! Well, at least the cap will not be damaging the paintwork anymore. Thanks to all above for pointing it out. M Likewise. :D
  13. I make you right Phil S, that's why i'm not that bothered at the moment with the figures the computer is showing. All of my driving so far has been stop / start in Stratford, also i'm driving overly cautious so not to prang my pride & joy! Hopefully over the weekend I will get more time to give her a decent run, perhaps up to Chelmsford & back. Did not test drive the 100 bhp version, so can't comment, but on 2 occasions I wondered whether my Focus had stalled ( while at lights ), that's how quiet / smooth the engine is!
  14. My 1.6 ( 115 bhp ) Zetec Climate has now done a total of 117 miles, the best fuel consumption figure so far has been 21.9! But then again that's based on solely Town driving with an average speed of 9 mph!
  15. Dennis The Menace wrote; the golf has pinched nothing from the focus Apart from the Independent Control Blade multi-link rear suspension. Prior to the new Golf stealing this costly alternative from the Focus it's well known that it handled like a ship at sea!
  16. If it was 90 octane it would be chugging! The minimum RON you can get in the UK is 95, Super Unleaded is 97-99 RON. I stand corrected!
  17. Thanks all, I filled up with Tescos standard unleaded (90 Octane ) and all seems fine, no chugging like a JCB or plumes of black smoke billowing out the exhaust! Think you're all right when you say it's a financial agreement with BP.
  18. I do'nt for one minute doubt that your car was problematic, I've only done 113 miles in mine and obviously am still on a high ( so to speak ) over my new car. Hopefully my enjoyment will continue, but the good thing about forums is that both good / bad experiences can be passed on to others for their benefit, and I shall keep a close eye on some of the issues raised by yourself and others. If I experience anything that i'm unhappy with I will also post on here.
  19. Had an Astra estate as a hire car from Arnold Clarke when I was in Scotland over Christmas, the one-touch indicators were a nightmare! Could not cope with that on a daily basis.
  20. The older Meganes were slightly more reliable than the current one (not so many electrical gadgets. The list of faults, excessive rear tyre wear, water ingress, stalling, the list goes on forever. Independent surveys prove it as well ( JD Power ). Renault are one of the worst for customer satisfaction, I have no regrets buying the Focus and am enjoying every minute behind the wheel! Not a good car, more of a great one, not suprised it's the best selling car in the UK!
  21. Alright mate, I noticed this yesterday afternoon when I opened the hatch after a downpour, but I would think that Ford are probably working on a fix. I only picked my Focus up on Wednesday and would say do'nt be put off, in this class the Focus is the best car IMO, after test driving the Renault Megane (flimsy build / unreliable ), VW Golf (over rated ) whizzpopper Astra ( annoying one-touch indicators ). The build is faultless and solid, ergonomics spot on, and the drive fluid, responsive and sure footed. At least the so-called problems are not mechanical, and I have faith in the Focus star
  22. Hello all, picked up my Focus on Wednesday & have been enjoying every minute behind the wheel! Tomorrow I will have to put some petrol in it for the first time, however Ford recommends BP Ultima. Prior to the Focus I had a KA & always used Tesco's standard 90 Octane unleaded, which seemed ok. Should I consider using the super unleaded for the Focus ( 1.6 115 bhp ) or would the standard unleaded petrol be ok? Thanks in advance.
  23. Hi all, my brother popped by this afternoon & he's interested in possibly getting a Focus ST. So we headed down to Dagenham motors, parked outside was a Focus Zetec in Tonic with 17" wheels. I told him that's the colour i've ordered with the same wheels, we both walked around admiring it. Then I looked at the reg plate & realised it's my Focus! ( What a Muppet! ) I was'nt expecting it until Wednesday, but forgot that the salesman mentioned that on Tuesday the alarm was going to be fitted. I did however notice that there is a very slight difference in the bumper / body colour, but in a
  24. Hi all, over the past 3 years i've driven down to Appledore, a small fishing village in North Devon in my humble KA with 2 mountain bikes hitched on the back. Next week I should be picking up my Focus & wondered if the rear mounted carrier could still be used? I have doubts because of the rear spoiler on the Focus, the carrier i've got is a high mounted 2/3 bike Halfords one. Has anyone carried any bikes on their Focus?
  25. Hi all, new to this site and enjoying reading all the valuable information on it and also the warm welcome i've received! I've ordered a Focus Zetec Climate with the 115bhp engine, but apart from the log book is there any identification "plate" on the car that states the bhp of the engine? Also I want to make sure that it was built in 2006 & not a 2005 model that has been sitting somewhere waiting for a buyer. I have read somewhere on this site that someone bought a Focus assuming it was the 115 bhp version only to find out later that in fact it was the 99 bhp engine! Any advice would be a
