ST Mike

A Dump Valves main job is to extend the life of the turbocharger. If you were to shut the throttle on a turbocharged engine when it is on boost all the excess boost pressure has nowhere to go because the throttle butterfly creates a blockage. When this happens the excess boost pressure builds up and tries to stall the turbocharger causing bearing wear. When a car is fitted with a dump valve all the excess boost pressure is dumped to atmosphere which takes the strain off the bearings in the turbo. The dump valve can also increase throttle response. I had a tdci like you mate and i have been in plenty RS focii and also the new ST, at first i hated the shape and the interior as well. BUT over time it has grown on me and i actually now prefer it over the tdci. I ordered the new ST because quite simply the drive experience and overall power was better than the RS. i drive about 500 miles a week and the ST suits that type of journey far better than the RS would. Plus i got my ST for 15k and with that i get 3 years warranty, new reg and a brand new car unused by anyone else, i could never get that with the RS. Mike :wink:

Guys I have been in tocuh with Bailey and they are developing a dump valve kit at the moment, one of there employees has an ST and they are doing it on that. He will email when they have the kit finished and i will post the details Mike :wink:

Well it seems quite a few of us have taken the plunge whether it be from diesel, petrol or existing st170 models. errmm more interesting comments. Firstly Ford do fit a tuning pack ....BLUEFIN... Brooklyn ford will supply and fit bluefin and it wont effect your warranty. Why because superchips have a contract for an underwriter to cover any repairs caused by the chip that ford wont cover. simple. And finally i have had a car that blew up so you put it and it was repaired under warranty. It helps to know some facts before you post negative comments about anything Mike :wink:

I hear what you both are saying but this is diesel chips we are talking about and in the diesel engine there is a lot of wasted fuelling and massive margins for safety factors. Bluefin improves the fuelling and ignition timing and i can assure you both improves performance from 120bhp to 140+bhp and fuel economy is not affected. In addition all round driveability is vastly improved. I have had one for a long time and many other chips and the people who have other chips will also verify the increase power and driveability. Scott I have had many chips :D the one i have setlled with is bluefin. Increase in performance.....oh yes all round, the smile still remains to this day. As regard to power 20bhp is about right on average, it does depend what engine and what standard figures it produces. Mike :wink:

Go bluefin, comes with its own warranty covering any parts that ford wont should the remap cause any problems and can be fitted at certain ford dealers, no drop in fuel economy in fact better fuel economy. Just had a quote from my dealer on privelage for the ST2 and at under 15k im well chuffed. Brand new ST for less than a second hand RS got to be good. Mike :wink:

Ford only provide one master key and one remote key with new vehicles now, i asked the same question when i picked up my car in january. Mike
