That sounds pretty normal to me. Here in germany we can order the ST with either balck or grey roof. Sometimes if they dont have bits for a certain car that is build, they simply put upgraded parts into it. I would doubt that now all Ghias have the SML.

All 3, 5 door hatchbacks and all wagons/ estates are made in plant Saarlouis in Saarland, Germany. The 4 door sedan is manufactured in Valencia Spain. The ST is also buildt in Saarlouis. New Mondeo is assembled in Lommel Belgium.
