  1. Justice - Hang in there m8. I'm wondering if it may be time to play Ford at their own game? I know in the states they are fond of group litigation (I think thats what they call it?). Perhaps if enough people with the same problems were to get together they could take Ford on and win? I'm giving them till the end of September with the ECU update they promise. If this does not fix things then I reckon there should be quite a few people not happy looking for recourse. I'm currently keeping a diary of my car and will be contacting various media organisations to see if they're interested in doing a
  2. Hi Craig, Sorry to hear your chasing your tail - sounds like you've got a right Arthur Daley outfit sorting your car :( Please keep us informed how Ford Customer Services try to resolve this issue for you. With me also being in the hands of FCS with my issues, be interesting to see how our cases compare. Maybe time to look for a smaller "non-business sales" type dealership and ask FCS to liaise with them to resolve the outstanding problems perhaps?
  3. jakx - I feel FWIW the guy must be on drugs or something (hospitality overload?) because thats crap for a diesel under the useage he stated. Combined with the fact that the figures stated by Ford are nowhere near obtainable by a number of us here makes me feel I have been fraudulently sold the premium cost of the Diesel engine. The guy at Autocar obviously did'nt bother or care what Ford stated in their literature. Its interesting to see that some people here claim close to Ford stated mpg, yet others are way off like me. If when the software upgrade due in September for the CMax does nothing
  4. Hello again, vitrocmax - I don't think FCS will tell you where to take the car as they're all independent. When I spoke to customer services they gave me a case number and said that I can go to any garage of my choosing, even swap garage if unhappy as things progress and they would back me up all the way liaising with the dealerships I deal with for my case, and also keep contacting me to see how things were progressing on my side. If any of the dealerships don't satisfy my requirements FCS have assured me it will be noted and WILL count against the dealership in the future. In the end I h
  5. Hello again, Some good news for a change. I got a phone call yesterday morning from Ford Customer Services. They have agreed that my experience is not satisfactory and have sent me a letter to use as an introduction to a dealership of my choice, along with a case number so that Ford can liaise with them and me to make sure the car gets sorted in entirety :) They're also chasing the invoice and V5 on my behalf. At last the sort of customer service you should get first shot at the dealership! :) Going to take the car to a dealership on Friday so all I need now is a recommendation of garage to
  6. Hi Craig, Sorry to hear no more fixes :( I've been sitting back waiting for all the fixes to appear but there seems to be very little progress :( I can't believe they're saying low 30's is ok! Their sales literature clearly states a lot better than this. How are you working out your mpg? I'm feeling the trip computer is telling porkies as i've been seeing 33mpg on the trip computer but when I fill up to the brim, zero trip, run car till fuel warning comes on (at proper time of 50 miles to go  ), record distance travelled and equate it to number of litres required to brim the tank once
  7. Hi Oxford_Donn - Does your trip meter's mpg tie up with your calculation? I'm just wondering if somewhere down the line a recalibration of the fuel measuring setup which my car had done according to the dealer may have caused the trip meter to be falsely calculating the mpg. If I can have 40mpg like yourself I would be happy so am hoping the trip is at fault and not the engine setup. Nice to hear some positive stage III talk :)
  8. Hi Ron, Your figures in your first post are almost exactly the same as mine! :( Im being told 410 miles to empty the tank with mpg appearing as ~33mpg. I've currently just brimmed my tank and am going to work out the exact mpg before taking on Ford over this. I paid over £2000 extra for a diesel and im beginning to feel the extra was wasted! Not impressed
  9. Well no sign of any movement. Fax sent Wednesday night, copy of fax sent by recorded mail and confirmed received before 10.30am this morning but heard nothing from FMC. Beginning to wonder if maybe both have found their way into the bin. If I don't get any reply is there anyone else I can contact to pursue the resolution of defects with my vehicle? The lack of courtesy in acknowledging my fax or letter makes me feel I will be fighting an uphill battle :(
  10. Justice - You have my deepest sympathy. Don't let it get you down. Its not worth it. Friday morning this happens before car goes in on Monday. Maybe i'm getting cynical but I smell a rat :(
  11. Thanks guys. I've just popped an email off to dvla asking them how I can pursue obtaining the V5 if they have not bothered to register the car in my name. The way I feel about the way Ford and their dealers treat their customers I would really like out of the Ford experience if my problems are'nt sorted in the near future, hence i'll need the V5 to sell it :(
  12. jakx - Would it be possible to point out some of the inherent defects in the stage 3 CMax too? I faxed the MD of Ford of Britain today complaining but did not get a reply unlike others who have tried the same. I am going to give it to the end of the week then look at pursuing legal advice/action. Will be interesting to see if these magazines have the b@lls to print the URL to this dedicated forum  Knowing how cosied up to the manufacturers they appear to be I won't hold my breath. A better aproach may be to get in contact with the BBC watchdog program. [Edit] I've just nosied
  13. thanks andy, I had visions of me getting speeding tickets and someone else getting the fines/summons. Not that i've been speeding  Is there anything I can do if they refuse to issue me either just to be awkward? I cannot sell the car or get a tax disc until I have the V5? Cheers, Chris
  14. Justice - They probably feel that you won't want to rock the boat too much with them being the hirer and firer. Here's hoping won't be long before the forum is full of happy CMax owners real soon.
  15. Hi Craig, You twisted my arm  Just sent the Fax direct to Paul Thomas 8) Had a good think before I sent the fax and below is revised list of car problems:- Poor fuel economy. Fuel warning light error. Badly fitted door seals which look shoddy and not in keeping with those seen in showroom. Wind noise on drivers door/window. Flat spot in power delivery at approximately 1750rpm. Power delivery sometimes becoming reduced and feeling gutless. Radio time display not keeping time. Rear centre seat belt retaining clip on roof not retaining buckle causing buckle to hang down. Left rear
  16. Thanks for confirming the info on the power delivery fix :) Your experience posted above has inspired me to get off my lazy * * * * and do something about my cars outstanding problems. Would Ford look after me as well as you being a Private buyer and not buying under the privelidge scheme? My problems:- Poor fuel economy. Fuel warning light error. Badly fitted door seals look shoddy and not in keeping with those seen on demonstrator. Wind noise on drivers door/window. Flat spot in power delivery at approximately 1750rpm. Power delivery becoming reduced and at times feeling gutless. Radio t
  17. Hi, Time to get my lazy finger out and once and for all put to bed my problems with my CMax. Would be grateful if you guys can proof read my letter below and let me know if i've missed anything or got anything wrong. Any tips also be gratefully received. Here we go:- I'll keep you guys updated with how I get on. Cheers, Chris
  18. Hello again, My ongoing saga of trying to get any resemblance of service out of ALLEN FORD, NORTHAMPTON is not getting near any kind of conclusion. I bought the car in March and have asked for an invoice for my purchase and V5 registration document to be sorted out but to date nothing is transpiring despite phone calls and emails and promises from them to sort it out. In light of the above i'm curious - who actually, legally owns my CMax? If anyone can give me any ideas with regards to the above be appreciated. If anyone who works for Allen Ford browses this forum and would like to reply
  19. Oxford_Donn - How are you managing to get 44 mpg? Myself and a lot of other owners are lucky if we see low to mid 30's. Is this a newer version of the 2.0 TDCi engine than our older models? Brisk overtaking! I feel a dose of hypochndria coming my way :D I'll shut up before I get PM's telling me to shut up  Cheers, Chris
  20. Hi Oxford_Donn, Glad to hear your pleased'ish ;) with your new motor :) Mine does this and I feel it is the interior plastics that are flexing with the cars body. Funny thing is mine only does this badly when the car has been sat in the sun allowing the plastics to heat up. When the car is cold it is pretty quiet apart from the odd squeak/rattle from the dash. Your mention of the plastic being loose on the door pillar intrigues me. Would it be possible for you to post a picture of it? My driver side window sounds like it cannot nip up properly making it sound like the window is slightly a
  21. robdav1 - If your going to be doing some mileage may be worth you comparing the A4's mpg to the 2.0 TDCi CMax. If you run about with aircon on all the time you'll get low 30's mpg whereas I think the VAG PD130 will give you about 5-7 mpg more with same driving style if my old mans PD130 is anything to go by. Only on the motorway doing a steady ~65 tickling the throttle with a feather have I seen the magic 50mpg in the CMax. Be interesting to see if Ford improve this mpg with ECU update when they fix the juddery power delivery.
  22. Hi robdav1, They all work as a general rule. Its just that there is a hesitation in the power delivery at around 1750rpm which is most noticeable in first gear. I just change up to second before hitting it now so don't notice it so much. Either that or rev over 2000rpm for some wheel spinning getaways :D Very nice car to drive if you can live with the above. Sounds like you need to get an hour or two behind the wheel of a demo car to see if you like it.
  23. antmat - From what you say it sounds like Ford will just drag their heels as the cost will be prohibitive to them, then they will just shrug their shoulders after 12 months is up of wrangling and tell you that your now in the hands of the dealer for the rest of your warranty. Does anyone here know legally where everyone stands if Ford decide not to fix the TDCi jerky power delivery problem? [Edit]: Just noticed this on Parkers:- Can anyone confirm this?
  24. OptiX2K - Thanks for the info on the CANbus :) An Intranet in my car! - Cool 8) Vitrocmax - Your making it sound more likely by the day that this may end up being fairly simple to get done. :) Later this week when i've had a drive around the local dealerships round here hopefully may be able to offer up some more concrete info.
  25. hehe, vitrocmax - i'm afraid you've lost me with the CAN and CANbus. Hope you don't mind me asking what these are? Chris
