  1. So far my miles have been done between home and work, about 4 miles in queues and a mile of motorway at no more than 40mph twice a day :( This weekend we're going to do a run to North Wales, about 120 miles on motorway and dual carriageway all the way, which should loosen the engine up. I couldn't normally get there and back in my PT Cruiser without having to fill up, and I'm expecting better from the C-Max :) I'll probably reset the computer before we set off, (I'll have to get some petrol as well) and report back after. I'll be able to give a verdict on the drive and car afterwards.
  2. I've only had mine just over a week so it's a bit early to tell. The computer reads 30.1mpg, and I haven't reset it yet because I'm still on my first tankful  I don't know how accurate it is.
  3. There's no mention of it in the handbook, and the dealer didn't think it would. My PT Cruiser did, and I couldn't stop it from locking no matter how often I tried the procedure in the handbook!
  4. When I was looking at the options available on the C-Max price list, I was interested in the 'traveller pack' mainly because my PT Cruiser had all sorts of attachment points and fittings for carrying and holding things. For example, the parcel shelf (a proper shelf, not like the 'luggage cover' that the C-Max has) had moulded hooks to stop the week's supermarket shopping from rolling around, a cargo net to hold bigger things, and such like. :) The dealer described the pack (although he hadn't seen one) as; a set of attachment points for a cargo net, a boot liner, and a load net similar to t
  5. The 'card holder' is a filler panel that Ford designers thought would look better with slots in. They then showed the marketing guys who devised a use for it, and called it a 'card holder' so you could put your parking tickets in it. Here's a picture, it's on the left of the radio. :) Page 191 of the Owners Guide; 'The card holder can be used to store cards such as car park tickets, etc.' I suppose if you're on expenses it's a great help
  6. Chris, I looked for that little vent thingy and found that 20p coins fit neatly in the slots. :D (don't ask - I just wondered..) Now I've got somewhere to put my parking meter money! It's out of sight too, so no-one's likely to break in and pinch them  Regarding the parking sensor fitting, now the garage has my money they have suddenly become so busy they haven't had time to let me know what they are going to do about 'resolving my issue' I hope that by tomorrow, they wish they had......
  7. Found this for you, CJ From motor.terra.es (it's all in Spanish but the pictures aren't) found by a Yahoo image search for 'cmax' I used Babelfish (from Altavista) to get this; I think the translation is brilliant! The motors that come on a new frame, what better than motor new. Ford releases with this model the propulsive that will animate their next range, specially two of them, who have been developed jointly with PSA. In principle, the C-Max will arrive at Spain with three motorizations. There will be two TDCi, one of 1.6 liters and 109 CV and another one of 2 liters and 136 CV. Bot
  8. Hi guys, I'm driving a petrol car but the information I got (from somewhere on the internet) is that the Duratorq engine is a joint venture with Peugeot, and is a new engine for the C-Max and eventually the rest of the Ford and Pug range. I don't think it's the same as existing Peugeot engines. I'm sure all will be revealed in the fullness of time. I don't remember where I found a cutaway picture of the engine but if I can find it I'll post it up for you to drool over. Meanwhile, here's the petrol gubbins. It looks as though the exhaust is holding it all together. No wonder it's ex
  9. I've had it 24 hours, the mileage is at 62 and the computer says 30.4 mpg. How does it know :?:
  10. I took some pictures today in the sunshine, and I think there's a bit of a green tint in there somewhere... It's almost a 'pearlescent' finish, the way it changes in different lighting conditions. :) and how about a full frontal... I'm using Photobucket for hosting as recommended in the help forums, it's free and easy. I resize my pics to 72ppi with 50% compression in Paint Shop Pro, to get the file size down, if it helps anybody having problems putting pictures up. More when there's more...
  11. As I arrived to pick up my new Focus C-Max 1.8i Zetec in Vitro (it says 'green' in the reg. certificate, but I'm still not sure about that) I saw a photo opportunity. Here's my old PT Cruiser in Inferno Red alongside my new car. I'll post more when I've taken more. :) If you're after some fun pics, check out the ones I've posted in the 'saw it, liked it' thread. My parking sensor fittings are a joke, but more of that on the other thread. Vitrocmax - I am now :D
  12. The traveller's kit (£100!) is a joke  My PT had a 'cargo net' that had hooks to clipped onto small loops set in the floor. It also had a solid parcel shelf that could be moved to give a flat floor at 'seats folded' level. In addition there were some nifty hooks moulded in to it so we could hang all the weekly shopping carriers from it so they didn't roll around. All very clever. Ford could have done something similar (I noticed the Picasso has a 'supermarket trolly' advertised as an option!) and I thought that a factory fit traveller pack must be something special. It tu
  13. Thanks for the kind words, disney_cjd :) The car is really good, so far I've done a couple of motorway miles and about 15 on 'normal' roads. The most noticeable thing is how much quieter it is compared to my PT Cruiser. The tyres are the same size as the PT, but I hardly notice the road noise, and the engine is also much smoother than the PT. The PT was full of rattles as well. I had only put 17K on it in 2 1/2 years, so it wasn't worn out or badly made, just 'loose'. It will be interesting to see how long it is before the C-Max starts to rattle. The locking wheel nut adapter is the only s
  14. :x :x :x I've got it! Love it, hate the dealer! I'm impressed with the car, it's so different to my PT Cruiser, it's quiet, doesn't shake or rattle (it rolls a bit, though). BUT, and there's always a but, the dealer has fitted Joe Blogg's parking sensors and ruined it! I expected Ford's own sensors, and the first sign of something amiss was a black bleeper stuck with a sticky pad on the back door frame! Then I looked for the front ones, they've hidden the bleeper but drilled a hole in the console by the gear lever and stuffed a cr*ppy switch in it! The salesman apologised,
  15. OMG what have I done! I decide to change my PT Cruiser because I have had enough of cleaning the wheels, now your telling us the wheels on the new C-Max are b*g**rs too! Mine is a Vitro, my wife liked the colour and I thought it wouldn't show the dirt like my deep red PT. :) The dealer is waiting for the front parking sensors to be fitted, but he reckons I'll be able to pick it up on Tuesday (16th) so hopefully I can post some piccies soon after. :D
  16. I've only ever seen one C-Max on the road, since I started looking. It seems that almost every other car is a Focus! :) I am picking mine up on Tuesday (16th) :D so I'll probably post then to tell you my thoughts. Since deciding to change my car it appears that all the local PT Cruisers are out in force, I must have seen more during the past week than during the previous month :!: They are still good cars and I like mine a lot, but those wheels :!: The chrome really takes a lot more looking after than I expected and they only seem to keep their shine for about 10 minutes after polishi
  17. Thanks for the new section! :D I've been driving a PT Cruiser for the last couple of years, and had no intention of changing for a while yet. It's a great drive, but I have to clean and polish it every weekend, and the chrome wheels are a pain to look after. :( I saw the advert on TV (I don't recall seeing a C-Max on the road, but then I wasn't looking) and called in to my nearest dealer for a look. I was pleasantly surprised, had a tryout in a 2.0 TDCi (I think that's the right description) and did a deal there and then! :D I don't do many miles so couldn't justify the TDCi so I
