  1. I'm about to get some costs for a 2 year service (I've just done 13k). Looking at the service schedule (from here I see that the brake fluid should be changed at 2 years(as my dealer has also informed me) so shouldn't it be included in the service cost? Is there something new with brake fluid that means it needs changing more often? I thought that as technology improved we would need longer intervals (it works with oil, doesn't it?) and so far as I remember none of my previous 3 cars advised a brake fluid change every 2 years. My wife's Fiesta, at 8 years old and regularly serviced by a
  2. No, I never did carry on the tarting up I started. I just don't seem to have the time these days. It's sad to say I can't remember the last time the bucket and sponge were out, either.
  3. This topic will answer your question. I checked several different models but this one is the closest to the standard length. I would have liked another 10 or 15mm but couldn't find one. There might be one out now, it's a while since I changed mine.
  4. Thiswas one thread. And I never bothered to go back and complain. I might have a look on eBay, if the price is right they can't be worse than the Ford ones. If they last 12 months it'll be good.
  5. Hi, R-power. I don't have an auto but as nobody has answered this question I think it might not be common. Ford still offer it on their price list, and if there was a problem then the model wouldn't be available.
  6. If I remeber, the filter is fitted as part of the heater unit and on the first change a bit more work is required to remove it. From then on I think it's easier, but my TIS is out of action at the moment so I can't check it. We had a Honda Accord at work that needed a new pollen filter, the whole of the front passenger side had to come out and the cost was so high they wouldn't have it done. No air came through even with the fan on high because it was blocked so much, and the air con wouldn't work. So it seems a bit of bending and stretching isn't so bad, after all. vitrocmax
  7. In the link that v965hdss posted there's link to my original post here again with the Fiesta repeaters pictured. I've not bothered with the silver bulbs, I just accept that I can't see them when I'm driving and they look much better than the standard ones. Now the 'new' focus is out I'm sure there will be more silver finish ones around that don't need working on before they fit. vitrocmax
  8. Hi, Marko and Eidos, welcome to the C-Max section of the ffoc forum. I hadn't noticed your posts because I've been away for a week, but I have a 1.8 petrol and don't recall ever having the fault that you mention. It is 18 months and 10000 miles old now. I assume that engines are the same wherever they are sold, but there may be a difference for emissions or something that may mean yours may have a fault that we might not get here in the UK. Unless anyone else has a comment? vitrocmax
  9. Maybe you could cut a hole in the cover so you could still use the sunroof with the cover shut?  I don't have a sunroof but I still get plenty of rattles, creaks and other irritating sounds. If you fix the sunroof you'll find another... :x
  10. This is a new one to me... I'll have a listen when I drive to work tomorrow. How hard do you put your foot down? Does it make a noise as you put your foot down, or if you leave your foot on the floor without moving it? I can't think of any reason for this one.
  11. Mine creaks round the dash, along the side of the car round the doors, and a bit at the back round the tailgate. And it doesn't stop after 10 miles. But I think I'll keep it, because the rest of the car is fine. When I fit the new radio I'll be able to mask the creaks with a louder sound. vitrocmax
  12. Thanks for that info, Johnc1932. Now the new Focus is out there will probably be a lot more aftermarket parts becoming available, so we can expect a few more mods over the next few months. I still haven't got round to changing the radio. Have you a picture you can share? Is the Autoleads one similar to Ford's own? vitrocmax
  13. I noticed that the clock was 2 minutes adrift of the 'pips' this morning - but I do remember setting it to within a minute when I had the update done back in February. It doesn't reset itself any more, but the 1 minute drift is a bit odd - I'll reset it as close to the minute as I can and see if it does it again. BTW, supersinky, welcome to forum. I notice you say you have been lurking for a few months, you could have joined without having bought the car, you know!
  14. They are all remote, Obasa, with a double press of the button opening the tailgate. There seems to be a time during the 04/54 reg that the lock disappeared. As for an explanation, wfitzy, Ford don't always explain why they change things, they call it 'continuous improvement', another way of saying 'we found a cheaper way of doing it'. One less hole to punch, a lock mechanism and the associated bits means a saving for them with no real inconvenience for us (and one less place to get filled with wax when it's polished). I don't remember ever using the tailgate key in my last 2 cars. Or the
  15. I assume you mean problems with the engine; my 1.8 engine has never given me a cause for concern, and the economy means that the Fiesta hardly ever gets used nowadays. The body, with its creaks and groans is another thing, as Gavin says. But you'll get that in the diesel cars too. But not in the Fiesta. vitrocmax
  16. I love it! :D It's also the best car I've ever owned! :D I can't fault it! :? Mr Ford, you should be proud to have your name on it! :D Now read my other posts... vitrocmax
  17. Hi jbakes...., welcome to the forum. The ride I can't comment on, because my Zetec has a firmer ride as far as I know. I don't have a problem with that. As for the wind noise, we have covered that in a much earlier thread, one of them here so you can read what happened then.
  18. Are you expecting the lights to flash to tell you it's locked, wiggi28? You need to turn the key backwards and forwards twice within 3 seconds to get the deadlocks on and the sidelights to flash, but it only works if all the doors are shut first.
  19. As air con problems are in this topic I thought I'd mention one thing the dealer told me about when he had my car in for a few warranty issues. I hadn't had a problem with the air con, I use it at least once a week to keep the seals working (it's a good idea to do this, apparently, even in winter). He said they found a 'broken' pipe and had replaced it. I don't understand how there could be a broken pipe and it still worked, but there you go. It might have been a bit of flannel so that I'd think they had done a good job, but the front suspension still groans and creaks at low speed over s
  20. I mentioned the gas strut problem to my dealer and he said they would have a look at it. I was concerned that the one year's warranty on trim and body parts was out but he said it's mechanical components and should be covered by the extended warranty. What I also told him was that if I left the tailgate up for a while (20 minutes, like if I was cleaning the boot or something) it was difficult to close, and needed gentle persuasion to get it closed because the struts were stiff, and it felt like I could damage something if I pushed too hard. I don't think lubrication is a possibility, the
  21. So if there's no keyhole, how do you open it without the remote?
  22. Ghia's don't appear to have one but LXs and Zetecs do. Unless someone's got some more information...? I think we've covered it before but I don't know which thread it's lost in.
  23. The RDS in my CD6000 never worked, and it's not the radio station's fault. My American built (well, Mexican, I think) PT Cruiser had a Sony branded radio that worked fine on the time changeover, my Blaupunkt didn't have a problem and a Peugeot radio from way back worked. I haven't changed a car radio clock for years, until I buy one of the latest models.:x It's a shame that Ford with their huge team of experts (?) found the best way to fix a fault was to disable a function that works in almost every other radio. Even my HiFi tuner at home works (and it's a Sony). I think the video gets its t
  24. I remember posting something about a PDI ages ago, it seems that we do it ourselves, the POST delivery inspection! Then if we don't spot a fault they don't have to spend time fixing it. I agree about the number plates. I moaned about the quality of the plates, they weren't level and the fixings were plain screws, with signs of rust after a week. They fitted new ones, with screw covers and they were level. So why not the first time? That's the dealer, not Ford. My list of warrwanty issues ran to 2 pages and 21 items, they took 5 weeks to fix them but there's still a couple of outstanding
