  1. My 04 reg CVT diesel had this COMMON problem!! It went thru 2 turbo's and it's now onto it's 3rd CVT gearbox. Hesitation at approx 1800rpm was STILL there when I finally got rid of it a month ago. It was out of warranty next month, and I did'nt fancy being stung with a bill of approx £4K for yet another gearbox. SO - it had to go!!!!!
  2. Hi ellaziggy Try searching the C-Max forum for 'Flat Spot', or just CVT. You will come across a few of my posts (threads) relating to this common problem. Ford won't admit this dreaded flat spot, BUT most of the technician / mechanics I have spoken to all know about it - but can't remedy it. cheers Alan
  3. Hi Colin How do you arrange an extended warranty, and how much does Ford charge for this. IF it isn't some ridiculous price, I might take a chance and keep the C-Max. Out of interest, the turbo was replaced in Jan 2006, and the CVT gearbox (3rd one) replaced in July 2006. cheers Alan
  4. I am in the same position, only the CVT gearbox has been replaced twice. I asked Ford head office about extending the warranty because of the excess time my C-Max has been off the road the past 18 months. They said that IF the 3rd CVT box went wrong out of warranty, they would take this into consideration. With the cost of the last gearbox exchange reaching nearly £4k (so I was told) I am taking NO chances. I am changing cars before the warranty is up. Don't really want to, but I have no peace of mind at all with the C-Max, and can't afford something along the same lines as the max, as I will
  5. The yellow engine warning lamp has come on for the 3rd time in about 4 months. Each time it is something to do with the Canbus. This time it had 'lost' communication with the TCM. Ford ran diagnostics - checked and cleared the fault code, and that was that. The car is still under warranty so there was no charge. However when the warranty runs out Ford will charge £80 plus V.A.T. (£94) !!!! Anyone else had bother like this. Car is a 1.6 TDCI CVT (Auto) Zetec. Alan
  6. JAKX I don't know how you come to assume I would think contacting Honest John a waste of time & effort. I will persue this avenue, together with BBC Watchdog if necessary, and a local newspaper, who has a consumer champion called Mr Justice. I MUST be careful however, as in the back of my mind is that Ford are supplying me with a hire car, and they could pull the plug on that at any time - and I would be really screwed for transport. You have no idea of the amount of time, paperwork, telephone calls & effort that I have already put into trying to resolve this matter. Thanks for
  7. JonJen In my previous postings concerning my C-Max you can see that I have involved everyone I can think of with the issues I am suffering with my vehicle, including my Finance Company. I remember quoting the bit below to yourself & Nick Wells, who offered advice. "By the way - just out of interest for Nick Wells & JonJen: My finance company have NOT taken the slightest interest in my case. They are NOT bothered if the vehicle is off the road, needing parts, transport problems & hire car's; NOTHING - as long as the payments are rolling in they don't care. I asked them whethe
  8. My 1.6 TDCI CVT (automatic) has been off the road for 8 weeks now, awaiting it's 3rd transmission. Ford told me on the 23rd June that the gearbox was being air-freighted into the country, and would be with the dealer by the 26th / 27th. The garage phoned me on the 27th June, and said that "Ford have cocked this whole thing up big style" - the gearbox hadn't been delivered and when their parts dept. contacted Ford in Daventry they were told the part had been found to be faulty in transit!!!!?????? HOW ON EARTH can Ford say that a black box sealed part was found to be faulty in transit?????
  9. 4th Update - GOOD news; Ford have authorised a rental car. BAD NEWS - there is NO sign of the CVT from Germany !! and Ford can't give me a release date, and the part status is 'referred' !!?? Last week I heard from Ford Customer Relationship Centre, and the Ford Main Dealer where my Max is; who both told me that they couldn't find out how long my C-Max will be off the road for. At least they had the courtesy to let me know whats going on. They have supplied me with a whizzpopper Astra 1.8 automatic (4 speed box), which I am happy with to use on my holidays which start this Friday. The A
  10. 3rd Update - As if things couldn't get any worse. > > There is "NO SIGN" of the CVT gearbox, coming in from Germany - I was told on the 12th May that it would take 4 -5 days!!! Last Friday Ford have declined the request from the garage for a hire car for me. Now that the C-Max is over 2 years old the 'wait' is now 14 days!!!! (car was 2 year old on 6th May) Called Ford Customer Relationship Centre in Glasgow again, and they just confirmed what Ford in Daventry had said. Someone from the centre is going to look closely at my case TODAY. I waited all last week for one of the compa
  11. The thing with the Ford main dealer that is doing the warranty work up here in Northumberland, is that they keep bleating on about that I didn't buy the car from them. They ARE right, I bought it from a Ford garage down in Stevenage, because I couldn't source an automatic C-Max locally. NOW I know why there aren't that many CVT Max's about. The garage in Stevenage rightly said that ANY Ford main dealer will look after any servicing and warranty work that might be needed. I never thought that any vehicle could have so many problems in such a short period of time and under 10,000 miles. So I f
  12. Phoned Ford Customer Relations Centre (FCRC) straight after being told by the garage that it needs another CVT unit. They were not very interested at first, just told me to contact the Ford main dealer who sold me the car. When I explained that that garage was over 300 miles away, and all of this is affecting my health, with all the worry and stress this is causing, he eventually took some details. Ended up with me faxing 8 pages of detailed notes of EVERYTHING that has happened to the car since May last year. I have a reference number from (FCRC), but don't know what to expect next. The no
  13. 2nd UPDATE - Car has been in since Tuesday morning, and they have removed the CVT and have been trying to identify a part (a seal) to repair the oil leak. The garage couldn't find the finis (?) code, so asked the National Ford parts centre in Daventry to ID this seal. The upshot is - is that there is NO PART available, so Ford has decided to replace the CVT!!!!!! This is not in stock, and will have to be sourced from Germany, and that will take 4 to 5 days, so I'm told. Wouldn't you have thought that the garage would have known that it isn't possible to replace any oil seals on this CVT gear
  14. NO - never again. I have the 1.6 TDCI with CVT (Automatic) gearbox and it has been absolutely plauged with problems from the moment I got it, right up to now. It's been sitting in a Ford main dealers workshop for the past 3 days with the gearbox out, waiting for Ford technical dept. to identify a new part (a seal of some sort) to cure an oil leak. Apparantly the part doesn't show up on the database that the workshop uses, so they have had to ask for Ford's advice to find the part they need to repair the leaky CVT. I do pray that there IS a part to fit, otherwise I'm on the hard card. Al
  15. UPDATE - Had my C-Max booked in yesterday to investigate the CVT oil leak. They said they removed some covers, but couldn't determine what or where the oil was coming from. They have asked to HAVE THE CAR FOR A FURTHER 2 to 3 DAYS - to remove the CVT gearbox, to find out whats wrong, and whether it needs another NEW one!!!!!! MORE time without a car - give me strength. How much warranty work does Ford have to do to a vehicle before they can agree that it's 'not fit for the purpose'. Here is a sentence from the DTI website about "What is an inherent fault" > > > A fault present a
