  1. well.. I just wanted the question answering - headlamp washers are they a legal requirement - and are Ford now making Xenon systems without washers? Does that mean my retrofit of xenons doesn't really need washers? It'll save some cash.
  2. OK, here's the S-max with the washers - These lights also have the cornering light that come on when turing corners. and here's the S-max I saw with the same lights (must be xenon as I don't think they did projectors), again with the cornering lights BUT WITHOUT ANY SIGN OF WASHERS... sorry for the quality of the pics, taken with phone.
  3. yep, that's a possibility. But what about the S-Max? I thought they only did three types. halogens or adaptive or xenons. Unless the adaptives are the same housing as xenon.. .but surely not?
  4. it's only possible to do that for the MK1 / Mk1.5. The headlights on the Mk2 are of a different design and use different motors. On the headlights I have we have transferred the wiring from the halogen housing into the xenon housing so that the pins all line up as the xenon wiring is all black and very hard to trace.
  5. well... me and a mate of mine, are still working on this. But it's really not an easy mod. Turns out the stepper motor socket joints are different to that of the servos. So, it means basically gutting the original halogen headlights and swapping the ball (off the ball and socket joint for the leveller motors) for the one off the stepper motor. I discovered swapping just the motors doesn't work, as the headlights don't move up and down enough as there is so much play in the ball-socket joint and with all that play comes "wobble" on the headlights when going over bumps etc, not good. Th
  6. I always try to keep my 2.0 tdci to no more than 2000 when cold, 2500 if I need to get away quick - there's no need to go any higher even on motorway as at 70mph the revs are less than 2000.
  7. Front parking sensors? On a focus?
  8. Just make sure it's a warm engine and check your oil levels once every so often and it should be fine. and keep up the service history...
  9. My car is still under 3 year warranty but i thought they only did the interior under a 1 year? Anyone advise?
  10. This has just happened to mine :( Taking tomtom off the windscreen and it banged the compartment door open - then it wouldn't close again and I noticed the broken clip :( Is this a fault I can get repaired at Ford? or something I am gonna have to pay for? I gotta say it's crap build quality for it to happen, I rarely use it.. just keep my Bluetooth GPS in there.
  11. yeah... looking for some actual pics.. maybe in green next to the green stereo in the MK2?
  12. Standard rules apply mate. 1) NEVER rev a cold engine 2) The engine has a rev limiter for safety reasons (don't peak the engine on it all the time) 3) reving high will kill your fuel economy 4) (have I mentioned) NEVER EVER rev an engine when cold. That's all I can think of at the mo. But no doubt there are more...
  13. maybe the doors unlock automatically when the airbags are deployed?
  14. I have put the alu 6-speed gearknob I bought up for sale in the For Sale section as I am looking at getting the illuminated one. Does anyone have any pics of the illuminated ones in your car? I wanna see what they look like in peoples cars...
  15. yeah.. noone has found the anti-hijack on the Mk2 and at a guess I bet there isn't one. I am amazed that the boot can be opened from the outside - the MK1 was definately more secure. NOTE: Don't stop at traffic lights with a laptop in your boot and the drivers door unlocked. SCARY AIN'T IT!
  16. Sorry to butt in again on this thread... But it looks like I am on to a winner with my xenons and my standard headlamp loom. Managed to mod it so everything works including xenon bulbs, solenoid for full beam and levelling motors being changed using the leverller switch inside the car. WARNING: IT'S NOT EASY AND WILL REQUIRE PARTS FROM THE STANDARD HALOGEN HEADLIGHTS My mate is a genius with wiring etc and the secret is to remove the stepper motors used in the xenons and swap them (with a little *cough* light modification) with the servo motors in a standard halogen unit. Oh yeah.. and
  17. Can you take some close-ups of your headlamp loom plugs whilst you are doing that mate? Would be good to see a close-up image of the plug with all the wires on.. then maybe I can figure out how it all works.
  18. And you have retro fitted xenons? with levellers working?
  19. Yep.. that's the same as what I have. hmm... this is gonna be interesting I can tell. Just to be 100% sure.. this one? Rev? What have you got inside your car?
  20. will do mate... thanks for the info. If the levellers work with Dave's then there must be a way as his switch will be the same as ours? surely?
  21. rev? I plugged my ford xenons in and the xenons and levellers didn't work. Do you have the wiring you had to do to get the xenons on? (I'll have a bash at getting the levellers working too)
  22. whatever you decide I hope you get it sorted! all the best
  23. can I point you towards the search facility in future... But until you gain the experience of its use... http://www.ffoc.co.uk/modules.php?name= ... light=lock http://www.ffoc.co.uk/modules.php?name= ... light=lock http://www.ffoc.co.uk/modules.php?name= ... light=lock
  24. If neons are not legal UNDERNEATH the car, I doubt LED lights are allowed to be placed at eye level with cars following behind. I think it looks cool, but might not be practical and cause more probs than they are worth? I'll wait to be corrected though
