  1. Dave? Are there any other expensive parts to getting the mirrors working? I am yet to buy them and need to budget for anything else there might be. I saw tezza quoting £50 for a relay.. .do we need this too?? :?
  2. I think you might be right - let's hope your headunit can take a software update. If not you could always keep an eye out on eBay for a later model that has the bluetooth on it already?
  3. I agree - I don't have the voice button but when I press the menu button on the stalk, it's as though I pressed the voice button and my stereo says "voice" on the stereo and waits for a voice command :)
  4. No worries mate, X marks the spot (ish) Couldn't really get a good picture as it's a tight squeeze but mine is taped down by some sponge stuff. This was the best i could get - and yes I have the scan alarm
  5. I don't have the voice button and mine has 2 wires: Hope that helps
  6. Do you mean over the head of the driver? I noticed this too the other night but don't know what it's for. I'll try and get some pics.
  7. For those doing this mod and have the interior scan alarm with their vehicle - I am planning on relocating the disable button in the same location as the sunroof button (I haven't used the disable button ever as I don't keep things in my car that move - i.e. dog) and i don't have a sunroof. Switch FINIS code: 134629 @ £7.24 Interior Light Surround (with sunroof switch) FNIS code: 1317581 @ £17.21 I bought from Allen Ford and got 10% discount off that too.
  8. Where abouts am I looking mate? Any pics?
  9. I'm confused. The mirror without the lamp already in is MORE than the one with? Is that right? Or am i missing something?
  10. I don't have the voice button on my stalk - I found that the menu button acts as the voice button and I don't actually need a menu button. But I'll certainly get the stalk off and look at the wiring for ya.
  11. Well... there we go.. order placed for parts yesterday at 9am - told they would be here by the end of play today - went to the parts dept at 4.50pm (rushed home from work early) to be told by the guy behind the desk that my parts "hadn't turned up" and when I asked him when they would be "turning up" he said "he didn't know" What great customer service! I'll be having a word with my mate from Brentwood @ Ford HQ and get them to secret shop that particular dealers. That's the last time they mess me about!
  12. http://www.dft.gov.uk/pgr/roadsafety/drs/hidheadlamps Quote: "In the Department's view it is not legal to sell or use after market HID lighting kits, for converting conventional Halogen headlamps to HID Xenon."
  13. yeah.. this will be good to know - I am interested as to how easy fittng full xenons are - including auto levelling sensors etc. I hate Ford dealers... some know as much as a 14 year old!
  14. take some pics mate... I think they might help us understand what you are facing.
  15. I have just been to Ford and ordered the round mic (as well as a few other bits) so I am hoping I can look at the weekend. I'll let you know.
  16. Whch leads me to my next question. Why did my bluetooth kit come with a clip-on mic and the loom have a socket for the clip-on mic? What happens if I have both mics plugged in?
  17. OK.. just got in from removing the interior light and looking for the loom and I had to take some pictures to try and explain what I found - I think maybe I was looking a bit too hard when i was fitting the bluetooth unit before. once I had the surround off I noticed 2 wires and a plug going into a holder in the light surround: Text says: Is this the loom? I then remove the plug from the holder so the surround looked like this: Text says: loom removed from holder So with the plug removed, I took a picture of the "loom" too. So my questions: 1) Is this the wires for the mic?
  18. I couldn't find a loom where the mic hole is - the mic I have isn't even round to fit the hole - so it's currently clipped to the roof lining - I think it's mic the fiesta uses :S I might go and take another look tonight to see if there is one i just missed.
  19. PS. my car didn't have bluetooth so i retro-fitted it and i didn't need Ford to activate it or do anything to the car. It just worked.
  20. Have you "bonded" your phone to the bluetooth module? - make sure your mobile doesn't need user intervention to allow connection to the bluetooth module - on my Nokia it's called: "Set as authorised" in the bluetooth device options menu. Are you sure the bluetooth module is for the model of head unit you have? (not sure if that matters)
  21. Ohh yeah.. don't forget to tell your insurance company! - that's another cost to consider.
  22. wozbit, there are a lot of re-map options out there (superchips, bluefin, code:red, dreamscience, etc). I have never done any modifications to my engine as I am pretty sure it voids any warranty the car may have - so watch out for that! re-maps - induction kits - uprated exhausts etc have all been said to get better BHP (more performance) but at what cost - in both fuel economy and damage to the car? you'll have to ask people who have had it done. A re-map basically "tweaks" the engine or "pushes" the engine further than it was set at the Ford factory... will this wear parts faster / caus
  23. good point well made foxyfocus, something for everyone buying new to think about - unfortunutely I was at the mercy of the previous owners of my car :( and they didn't get an additional flip key.
