  1. Never mind Paul. The new Galaxy is out soon it has the same looks. There's also the SAV (codename) which is built on the new mondeo platform. Umm where have we heard that before. Roll up roll up guinea pigs required with money to throw away
  2. I tried to get my elderly parents in to a Kangoo for the ease of getting in and out. Grandpa took one look and said “Jack is 5 and he draws cars like that, I’m not senile!”. I was only trying to help :(
  3. Shrops paul, I've been elsewhere for a while, soz if I exposed the probs with a 2003.75 build but I did have one to and it was a disaster which could have ended up killing a family member. Guess what? We p/xed an X type for the Cmax. Oh, how i wish we hadn't. It was a fantastic car, you'll love it  It was space we needed and the kids were trashing the leather :? They are reliable so don't worry, just look at Jags standing in the JD powers survey. Do we miss the Cmax - yes. It was great when it was working properly, which wasn't very often :( Have I found a replacement th
  4. For the same model and year with 16k miles the best I was offered for p/x was £7,700. Good luck as dealers know the issues with these cars. If you are looking to buy new then speak to the workshop foreman as they will tell you to buy the 1.6, 2.0 litre petrol or the trusted ford 1.8tdci.
  5. Justice Not only did I visit DISCO3.CO.UK I p/xed my C-max for one. Three weeks in to ownership of the C-max back in 2003 and I’d already been to the service department 3 times. As for the D3 – not once, it’s a dream. The big difference between this site and DISCO3 is the green oval commands loyalty and even when it goes wrong very few owners ‘dis’ their car. It has always been the opposite on here. I would have bought a new C-max as they appear sorted. I priced a Titanium at £23k but difficult to get. In the end I traded my trusty 10 year old D1 for a Ka and the C-max for the Land
  6. You couldn't have scripted it. On its last journey I thought I'd have some fun...you'll know what I mean!!!!! I booted it on some loverly bends and then on to a motorway, big smiles, great car ...............and then LIMP MODE    Why, why, why did it after do this? For 7 months its been perfect. Its gone. Goodbye all. Buy a petrol. The smile is back..........Disco3 :D :D :D :D :D
  7. Thanks for the good wishes. Buying the Disco 3 wasn’t taken lightly and researched over the 12 months since its launch. I wish I’d have done that with the Cmax but it was weeks on the market when I was taken in by the space and pace of the 2.0 Tdci. It has run like a dream since the new EGR in May this year. It was bought as transport for the wife and kids, my Disco 1 was retired to being my run around and work horse. I am only too aware of how Discoveries can fail. My first was bought new in 1995 and literally fell to pieces. It was replaced by Land Rover who accepted it was not ‘of sa
  8. Yes. thanks 1955diesel. It was the positve reponse that sold the car. Some similar issues to the cmax but what star. Can't wait to go to Sainsbury's!!!!!
  9. New discovery 3 on order. Cmax was great but unreliable. Thanks for all the posts, especially the early ones back in the dark days of Feb 04 when it didn't work. A new one now would do the business but for £4k more I'm going for whatcar car of the year with 7 seats, 4wd, and TDV6 power - go on drive it. Bye, Good luck
  10. Yep, had this one its a simple repair. Yet another visit to the garage. Good luck. Disc3 on order.
  11. I'm not taking mine in. Its going. After 21 trips in to the garage in 24 months................Replaced by a Disco 3.........can't wait.
  12. 450 usually mainly around town (2.0Tdci zetec) :D Had 479 recently which included a very rapid 400 mile round trip on motorways. (15k miles)
  13. Since a new EGR in May O5 the average around town is up from 39 to 44. At a steady 60/70mph on on the M1 between junction 28 and 23 (about 25 miles) and return in did 65 on the computer (about 60 if done brim to brim). The best was last week on a rapid 400 round trip in just under 6 hours it returned 55 mpg. I'm keeping it now its great, the alternative would be another 2 years of hell.
  14. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!! Get it changed now whilst its still at the start up fault. Because mine was one of the first failures it took 6 months to get changed. The next fault is a killer. Try turning the engine off at 70mph plus in the fast lane of a motorway and safely negotiating to the hard shoulder with no power. Fortunately on the two occasions it did it to me I survived. I still fear others won’t be so lucky. In a couple of weeks time we’ll have had the car for 2 years. It was a nightmare for 18 months. Since having the EGR changed in May thi
  15. Smoggy Thanks for that. When I bought the TDCI the only alternative was the 1.8 petrol as the 1.6TDCI were not being released. That was at the end of October 2003. The 2.0 TDCI was very impressive and the 1.8 was not. I had a 51 reg Mondeo zetec with the 2 Litre petrol. If it is the same engine I can see why your're happy. Your mpg is also good. If I do go for another one in the next 12 months it will be the 2.0 petrol.
