  1. Hi Car was in today to get the hesitation problem investigated. From what I have read on here others are having a similiar problem. Anyway apparently there was an error code stored in the cars ECU and it pointed to the fault being on a sensor, CP.....blah...blah or something. So the part is on order and the car will be worked on again soon. I'll keep you posted. I hope this will finally be an end to my troubles with this car. In the meantime I'm test driving every car on the market I fancy as a replacement. That's confidence for you! The new Golf GTi is brilliant BTW so is the new Lexus
  2. Mastertech thanks for the info. Is the need to reset these values something written in Ford's instructions to techs fitting the new EGR valves? Also if the work is carried out to the letter does it completely fix the known EGR issue because alas I'm rapidly losing my faith in the C-Max. I was planning on holding onto it for a while yet and I really could do without the financial hit of getting a new car to replace it!! Thanks in advance for any advice. Cheers Peter
  3. A new EGR was fitted a few weeks back under warranty. Initially I thought everything was back to normal but within a day or so I noticed something new and undesirable was happening while driving. Basically since the new EGR valve was fitted the car stutters away from standstill and only begins acting normally when up above 2k revs. My wife confirmed that she was experiencing the same thing so I know I'm not imagining it! I've booked it in again to get it looked at. With regards the EGR replacement I was assured it was the latest revision part that was fitted. Does anyone know what might be
  4. Guys I've noticed during the past few days that my cmax is doing something strange while at cruising speeds. Basically for no apparent reason it feels like the brakes have been applied for a second and then things go back to normal. While this happens I'm aware that an orange light comes on beside the speedometer. It has only happened a few times and the car seems fine 99.9% of the time. Hope it's nothing serious. I've booked it in for a check-up anyway. What could be causing it? Has anyone on here experienced this before? Any help would appreciated. Regards Peter
  5. Hi My C-Max 2.0TDCi had a new EGR fitted about 6-7 months ago after the car developed a fault. Is this EGR likely to be a modified one?? Cheers Peter
  6. Hi I've been trying to find out how I can get my Zetec fitted with the Ultima or lookalike body kit. I left it in the hands of my dealer but after several phone calls to them for an update I am still no nearer a result. Before I start the process of phoning round the local Ford dealers, has anyone on here had this work carried out? If so, who did the work, what is fitted and how much was it? I'm having a new set of 18" alloys and lowering springs fitted tomorrow to kick the process off. Also getting all the windows (legally) blacked out soon. So the body kit will be the icing. I'm also loo
  7. Well, finally the work has been carried out to stop the creaking noises. When I took the car into the dealer initially, a mechanic came out on a short test drive to see if he could isolate the cause of the problem. And thankfully he did hear the same noises as I had reported (sometimes your not sure if you are listening too closely) and ordered some replacement parts. The parts ordered were the new design of front suspension bump-stops. The mechanic had had experience of this in the past with early C-Max's. He also ordered some replacement rubber stops for the hatchback because these have al
  8. Rich I have exactly the same problem on my 2.0TDCi especially at low speed. It's booked in on Friday so hopefully they will get to the bottom of it then. Incidentally while I was on the phone to the dealer they mentioned that they would also be carrying out another software upgrade. I had the up-to-date versions of ECU and cluster software installed a couple of months back. Has anyone else had this newer version installed in their C-Max and what does it fix? I'll post the results of the search for the source of the creaking problem when I get them on Friday. Cheers Peter
  9. Hi guys Just thought I would add a little more to the ongoing C-Max 2.0 TDCi mpg debate. I recently travelled to Glasgow to see Coldplay (who were amazing!) which is a 450 mile round trip. Just to satisfy my own curiosity about how good an mpg I could get I decided to drive down in very sedate and economical manner. Once I returned home to my total delight and surprise I still had a quarter of a tank of diesel left. I had enough left to drive around town for a couple of days then drive to Aberdeen! It came to a total mileage of 570 miles from a single tank. A couple of days later the fam
  10. Hi I, like many others have reported the problem with the brakes on the C-Max squealing while reversing. Up until now I was informed that Ford had recognised the problem but a fix was not yet available. So I was surprised when my dealer contacted me to let me know that a new fix is available. I booked my car in and awaited the results. When I arrived at the dealer on the day, out of curiosity I asked what exactly the fix was. I was told it was a new 'kit' to be fitted to the rear brakes which would completely solve the problem. When I picked up my car I had a good look at the rear brakes
  11. YES I THINK YOU SHOULD GET A C-MAX!! Below is an editted version of a previous post which still sums up my thoughts on the C-Max. I've had my CMax 2.0 TDCi Zetec for about 5 months now and it's had a few niggles just like everyone else's. I must say I was slightly dismayed after a couple of weeks but I'm so glad I held my nerve. After the latest software updates were flashed into the engine I've had no problems at all. In fact it's going better than I expected it to from day one! Also, before the updates I was getting the painfully low fuel economy figures indicated on the computer, around
  12. I have read the postings on here regarding the Autolocking feature on the C-Max with great interest. So when my car was in today getting mudflaps fitted I asked for the feature to be turned on. When my car was ready the dealership phoned me and also informed me they hadn't been able to setup the autolocking because they didn't know how to! I informed them that I had a copy of the procedure (printed from this site) and I took it with me when I picked up the car. After reading the procedure the technician successfully enabled autolocking and away I went. About 2 hours later I received a call f
  13. Gentlemen!!!!!! Start your engines!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. Ortho Shame you decided to leave the C-Max behind but great that you stuck it to the dealer big time. One thing though. Don't be too down heartened when some 30+ year old boy racer wannabe roars past in his new C-Max 2.0 TDCi!! Choke back the tears like a man! Now go away and join your new friends in the Diesel Foci forum why don't ya! Get outa here ya punk! See ya Peter
  15. Ortho Sorry to hear about your woes, but blimey don't you think you are being a tad hasty? I've had my CMax 2.0 TDCi Zetec for about 5 weeks now and it's had a few niggles just like everyone else's. I to must say I almost threw in the towel after a couple of weeks but I'm so glad I held on a bit longer. After the latest software updates were flashed into the engine I've had no problems at all. In fact it's going better than I expected it to from day one! Also, before the updates I was getting the painfully low fuel economy figures indicated on the computer, around the 25mpg mark.
  16. Guys Well.........ok I may not reject the C-Max now! Maybe I was being a little hasty, but you know how annoying it is having a fault on your car that isn't being fixed by the dealer. The new dealer has certainly came up trumps with the fixes the car needed. Car went in at 10am and was ready by 3.30pm. When they put the cars VIN into the system it came up with (apparently) all manner of fixes related exactly to what I had reported. They tell me they are very, very confident all is now well. I'm glad to say that I must agree with them. The car genuinely feels different when pulling away
  17. Guys As some of you may have read on my previous post I'm having a spot of bother with my new C-MAX 2.0 TDCi. In a nut shell it sometimes (about 1-2 a day!) won't pull away from standstill at speeds above 0.5mph! This has happened a few times at junctions and to say it was an unpleasant experience would be understating it. Also the car is shuddering slightly while on the move even though I'm in the correct gear for the speed. I'm also getting the Low Fuel warning like many other owners are. A week after I got the car it went back to the dealer to try and get the fault cleared. Less than an
  18. Guys Thanks for the speedy advice. Much appreciated. With regards the low fuel scenario causing my fault, this struck a chord with me. Not long before this problem started I got a Low Fuel warning even though I had just under 1/2 a tank of diesel. To clear it I just switched off the engine and started over and it didn't happen again. But as I say not long after that the slow motion stuff started. I've also read on here about the Low Fuel fault so it looks like I'm just confirming the problems others have had. Hopefully some software patching is all that is required!! Thanks aga
  19. Hey Guys I've had my C-Max 2.0 TDCi for about a week now and have just noticed a very weird thing happening just after I start the engine and try and pull away from standstill. Two or three times now the car will just crawl away slow-motion-like from standstill in 1st gear even though I press the accelerator more to try and get going. The first time it happened I turned off the engine and then started it again, and away I went with no problem. Another time I put the car into neutral and revved the engine a little then tried again, which also seemed to do the trick. Once the car is away and
  20. I'm about to take delivery of my new C-Max (hopefully sometime in the next century! :? ). What I want to know is, what is the best way to tune up the 2.0 TDCi engine? Superchips don't appear to offer a solution as of yet. I don't really fancy getting one of those tuning boxes because they really only alter the fuel timing signal to the engine. All they are doing in effect is opening the injectors a fraction longer which I hear can sometimes cause loads of exhaust smoke. A proper engine remapping is better I've heard but who else does that if Superchips don't? Has anyone heard any rumours r
  21. You are winding me up now. Just accept it, for the reasons I've stated above and for a couple of little mistakes  on the dealers part I got the car at the price I've stated. Now can we PLEASE move on. Peter p.s. ah, the mistakes.............
  22. Geez, I never intended to annoy anyone with the news of a low price C-MAX. It was really just to inspire someone into getting a better deal than they thought they would. If you like I'll scan in the sales docs and send them to you to settle this little matter! But for the record, the price I've stated is before any trade-in is taken into account. Now let's move on to something more interesting shall we? Like, will my engine still be running in a months time?? Will the doors fall off etc..... In the end it doesn't really matter how cheap the car was, it's much more important to me that it
  23. Thanks for all the prompt replies and words of encouragement. It's now 15/8/4 and I still don't have my car and worst of all I'm 120 miles out in the North Sea (aaaaahhhhhhhhhh!! ). The wife will have to pick it up I guess (once she agrees to all my terms and conditions, obviously). So now I won't get a burn in the new motor until the 24th. Oh cruel fate!! Mind you, I suppose being here pays the bills and all that..... Peter
  24. Hi folks I'm just about (any minute now!) to take delivery of my new C-MAX 2.0 TDCi Zetec (Moondust Silver). I managed to get it for £14k (which was nice). Then due to a very rude salesman and late delivery I managed to haggle another £400 off when I threatened to the Sales Manager I was going to cancel the sale all together. Just goes to show you don't have to pay anything close to the list price. I see there are several postings here relating to the 2.0 TDCi specifying some engine problems and assorted other niggles. Have Ford managed to come up with a fix to the problems yet or is a fi
