    Stockholm, Sweden. C-Max Trend 1.8.
  1. I've got a 1.8 Zetec which has done slightly under 2k miles and since the outdoor temperature rose above 0degs and I switched to summer tires the car has been doing around 28-29MPG on my daily trips to and from work. (calculated on how much petrol I put into the car) On weekend trips I've been getting 31-33MPG. My 1.6 -02 Focus did 29-31MPG on daily route so the MPG is as expected considering the C-Max is heavier and has a larger engine.
  2. 28 is terrible. I've been getting 28-30 with my brand new 1.8 petrol C-Max on town driving with studded winter tyres and below zero temperatures which is the worst conditions for fuel economy. I expect 31-33 if I get the same improvement as my old Focus when I switch to summer tyres and the temperature rises.
  3. We looked at: VW Caddy Life - loads of room and practical, but very under powered. How can they have a 102bhp engine as the largest engine alternative on a car which can take seven passengers and which weighs over 1.5 tonnes? VW Touran - Too expensive. Nissan Almera Tino - Too small back seat, but good cubby holes. Scenic - Best competitor. More cubby holes but not as fun to drive and I really, _REALLY_ dislike digital speedometers and the horrible, fidgety controls. Picasso - My wife couldn't find a comfortable driving position so we didn't even test drive it. Focus Mk II - Too lo
  4. jakx: On the LHD the driver's seat heating control is obscured by the steering wheel.
  5. Little update... -25 degrees (celsius) this morning after a -30 low during the night. No problems starting, heated seats got my bum nice and warm and the cabin temperature rose quickly. The only signs the maxie showed of freezing was some creaks from the interior and the trip computer display was more sluggish than a snail on valium.
  6. I ordered my maxie on 20th Nov 2004 and got it on 8th Feb, long wait but well worth it. We've had lots of snow since then (maybe 15in) and the maxie on snow has been very stable. The ESP hasn't even had to kick in more than a couple of times.
  7. I think the CMax is a great car, and like all new cars there have been problems which seem to have been solved. Keep in mind that in a forum like this people (including myself) tend to focus(!) on problems rather than the positive things. As a comparision look at the new car quality surveys made here in Sweden. Audi, VW, Seat and Skoda have occupied 4 of the 5 bottom places for the last 3 or 4 years. Saab and BMW also come far below Ford while Toyota and Mazda usually top the list.
  8. On my Cmax 1.8i ROM-level 541 I have a setting which directly translated from Swedish is called "comfort signals". When I turn it off the car doesn't beep when the temperature drops. On another note(!) I have discovered that front parking sensor and snow is a bad combination. When driving and the snow turns to ice the front sensor goes mad and beeps constantly.
  9. Pichacker: 1.8i engine Moondust: I've encountered the problem three times so far. It reverted to correct time once and the other two times I waited approx 30 seconds before setting the time manually.
  10. Today the radio was set to -:-- for the second time this week when I got to the car. The car is mfd january 2005 and SW version is 541. Strangely enough the date is correct. I've seen other threads about clock resetting to 21:00 or 22:00. but not to -:--. Has anyone else experienced this?
  11. Hi All! I [finally] got my C-Max tuesday and I'd like to share some first impressions. My previous car was a 2002 Focus Estate 1.6i which is the best car I've ever owned. The only two things that I wasn't 100% happy with was that it was a little noisy at high speeds and that I had to move the passenger seat a bit too far forward for comfort with a child seat installed. My new car is a C-Max 1.8 Trend Deep Navy blue (like UK Zetec, except LX 15" wheels, no car alarm, but with heated front seats, ESP, headlamp washers, mudflaps and rubber floor mats) The extras selected are Ghia-spec fr
  12. I should think it is quite normal. I have seen the same thing in my Focus 2002 Estate and on several other cars with the reg.lights mounted in plastic. If it bothers you, then I suggest you switch to LEDs instead which should solve the problem.
  13. Gavin: Can you move the outer two back seats back when the boot liner is installed? Looking at the pics in the accessories catalogue it looks like the liner is too high. /Krister
