  1. Hi Bluemax, thanks for reply. Just out of curiosity, how was your dealings with motorpoint? A colleague at work suggested I had a look at motorpoint because the car I am after is around £2000 less with them.
  2. Just to let people know what happend yesterday. Went to Evans Halshaw of Preston. Took a test in Mondeo. Came back to make a deal. Salesman asked what I thought I would get for the Cmax. I stated around £7,500. (Cmax is 04 1.6 Diesel Zetec with f/r parking sensors, with 40k on the clock). The salesman attitude completed changed. He started laughing at me, went into a rant about how I was wasting my time travelling there. How I wasted his time by taking a test drive. He said I would be lucky to get even £6,000 for it. He only calmed down when I told him I had based my figure on another de
  3. Hi Guys, thanks for the advice. Had seen an advert for a Mondeo on Autotrader website. Contacted Evans Halshaw and spoke to salesman called Alan. He said they had the car in stock and it was one they had purchased from another garage. So not a Ford direct one. So hopefully not a hugely inflated price.
  4. >Just wondering if anyone has dealt with Evans Halshaw Ford of Preston. It's just that I am travelling down to Preston on Saturday to look at a vehicle (trading in C Max) and I would like to know what they are like to deal with.
  5. Is the car a 53 plate therefore just over 3 years old or is it under ford direct warranty because this is what my screen was replaced under?
  6. Have experienced this problem before. Got it replaced under warranty at local garage. Screen has two seperate elements to operate each half of the screen. Got the screen replaced but the problem swapped around. Drivers side clear but passenger side misty. Replaced again under warranty and this time ok.
  7. Does any one have a newish (06) Cmax Tdci? Is there stil reliability issues. eg EGR valve problems?
  8. HI Mastertech, I said air turbulence because this is the only thing I thought it could be. When I am sat in traffic and a car in front rev's it's engine my front parking sensors will bleep madly. Also when I bus passes by they will again bleep because of the amount of air turbulence it creates in it's wake. Have you seen how much buses belch out.
  9. As previously mentioned by JonJen it is the air turbulence created in front of the sensor that can make them beep. It is more noticeable when stationary in traffic with a car in front with an exhaust at the right height in front of the sensor. Also when motorbikes pass by. It also happens quite a lot when a bus passes on the other side of the road due to the air turbulence created by their large exhaust.
  10. Hi Smoggy, yep this is exactly how mine went. The Ford mechanic said he tested the windscreen, the earth connection is a common point at the top of the screen and the screen has two separate elements. One for drivers side and one for passenger side. Each element gets it's power at the bottom of the screen under the plastic that runs along the bottom of the screen. The Ford mechanic said each part of the screen was getting power but the drivers side was not warm. Took two replacement attempts to get a working one.
  11. For those interested have been back to the dealer for the second windscreen to be fitted and hey! it works. According to the service manager he spoke to another dealer who said they had also had a C-Max in with a faulty windscreen and going by some of the posts on the forum this looks like it could be another problem for Ford about to come out. Also had 2nd service carried out. Cost around £120. But needed two front tyres. Inners had worn to 0. Ooops!!! Guess I like the handling too much. Tracking was also done. Total cost was just under £300. At least the dealer gave me a cup of coffee!!!
  12. Hi Stevenh, don't know whether you have seen my posts about my windscreen but had the same problem. Drivers side decided to stop working. A new one was fitted. The new one's passenger side did not work. Now another new screen fitted and all is well.
  13. Just to keep interested parties updated. Contacted dealer this week to find out the progress of my heated front windscreen since it has now been about 2 weeks from when they should have ordered it. It turns out the windscreen is on back order and that it will have to come from Germany!! But hang on!! Why can't they source one from RAC auto windscreens? The guy at the dealers say the back ordering is not unusual. They are waiting for two wheels for a new mondeo.
  14. Noticed a dark blue C-Max on back of Low Loader breakdown truck the other day. I think it was an 04 plate. This was in West Cumbria. Was this you and if so what was wrong?
  15. Hi topgazza, thanks for asking. Just waiting for dealer to get windscreen in. They say it takes 3 to 4 days to get one. Will let you know how I get on.
  16. I dunno. Bramley was such a nice area if I remember right. Or has it gone downhill since you moved there topgazza!!!
  17. Oi topgazza, my sisters are already married, so that won't work!! Remember I moved from Newbury to Cumbria, so what does that say for the south!!!
  18. Hi guys, mechanic at dealer told me that he checked the power points at each side of the screen and he said he was getting power to both points. He also said that the screen has a common earth at the top of the screen and this was ok. But he still could not understand why the screen was not working properly. Topgazza, is your local dealer Gowrings by any chance. I am originally from that neck of the woods (Newbury). Bought a few fords from Gowrings of Newbury. Salesman Johm Bowden top bloke. Don't know if he is still there. Good aftersales.
  19. I think we should all put our 2005 brochures on Ebay. Then maybe we can bring the prices down by flooding the market. Hang on! I'll just grab a dozen or so from my dealer.
  20. C Max went into dealer today for new heated windscreen to be fitted on Ford's recommendation (Drivers side stopped working). Collected car only to find that with NEW fitted windscreen the Drivers side now works but the passenger side doesn't work. Took car back to dealer. Told them how unhappy I was. (Managed to keep myself from swearing). They just shrugged their shoulders, said not a lot we can do but fit another screen. AAAAAAgggghhh! Has anyone else had a problem with the front heated windscreen? Does anyone know how the circuit works., because it sounds like an electrical/relay fau
  21. Ah but strictly speaking it's not the trim that's failed. It's a mechanical part that's stopped operating. Should be covered by warranty.
  22. Just so people know, my front heated windscreen has just become faulty but only on the drivers side. Bummer!!! Ford have told garage to fit a new screen. Just waiting for it to arrive at dealer. Anyone else had a problem with their windscreen? Also asked about in dash cd changer. £542. Ouch!!!
  23. Took C-Max into local dealer for recall work to rear wiper motor seals. Whilst there they hooked up car to WDAS to try and cure intermittant problem with Engine system fault/Brake light fault message. Engineer said he did find a problem and recalibrated Brake light switch. Maybe one for people to take note of for future. wfitzy
  24. Hi, has anyone had a problem with the engine fault warning message come up followed by a brake light fault warning message. It happened last Thursday when I had to brake heavily at a junction. The engine fault message first came up but car appeared to be fine, then almost immediately the brake light fault message came up. After a couple of miles the fault warnings disappeared. I stopped at a garage to check the brake lights and they were ok. It happened again on Sunday after I went over a bump. Again the same messages came up but after a couple of miles the warnings again disappeared. Doe
