  1. Id score mine like my old school teachers. could do better 7/10!!!! I have the 1.8 ghia petrol, it drives well most of the time, has only broken down once in 6 months but has had to many minor problems and been back to dealer more than my Toyota ever was. If Ford sort out my intermittant misfire that occurs during acceleration I would probably give it 8.5 but so far in 6 months they cant find it!! Back again to dealers in 4 weeks to try again, i have told dealer to keep for a week but they seem reluctant. Perhaps we should score Ford on their after sales care? mine would be 4/10.
  2. HI, Unfortunately Ford dealerships will NOT replace any part under warranty unless on a recall or the computer gives error codes. My 1.8 petrol ghia cmax has had a misfire from new for 6 months, it is repeatedly been to the dealer who cant fault and wont do anything. i have tried different fuel still misfires intermittantly always on acceleration. I will now be taking a service engineer and computer out with me for a drive along the M62 till it misfires. I guarantee it will happen and that the computer will give a clean bill of health. But at least with more inconvieience to me Fords will hav
  3. hi all, I read my manual again last night. Could not find any mention of needing to keep clutch or brake pedal depressed, only mentioned warning displayed if you try to pull off with it engaged. Tried it for myself. You do need either of the pedals depressed before the epb disengages but you dont get a warning. On my journey home the traffic ground to a halt on a hill. I put the handbrake on and waited for the traffic to move. Let the clutch out to get clutch control and the handbrake wouldnt come off. Dropped the clutch again pressed the epb and started to roll back!!!.Slammed on the brakes r
  4. Like Reddhedd Mine always sticks at the most embarrasing of times, at traffic lights or when queing at roundabouts!!! It did it again this morning at the lights and an old granny beeped me, cheeky moo. I dont know if mastertech has any advice on this, as it seems to happen to me if you try to disengage soon after applying, as if there is a delay for the electronics to see another signal and activate the servo? I also wonder if there is any adjustment on the lever itself as it only seems to activate /deactivate at the end of travel and may need microswitch adjusting? :!:
  5. Thanks reddhedd Has your dealer done anything as mine have sat in a workshop and pressed a dozen times, before they say it is ok.i'm pleased im not imagining it! I have learnt to live with it and make sure i hear it disengage before pulling off. Let me know if they fix. Sorry Randy seemed to give men a bad name, hope he buys a fiat, that will teach him!! :)
  6. I bought my cmax for the following reasons having been driving a toyota avensis verso for 3 years. 1. the dealer was doing a fantastic deal that no other dealer could match. 2. I didnt need such a large car as no longer have to take twin buggy etc and only at weekends was there ever a chance of there being 7 in it. 3 .I wanted a car that did more than 25 mpg. 4. the car offers a similar higher driving position as the avensis verso. 5 .Its a lovely car to drive 6. the wife liked it!!! I wouldnt say anyone should or shouldnt buy one as it is a matter of personnel choice. I would say try it a
  7. Hi All, I am after a bit more advise for my 1.8 ghia cmax. I was bored the other day so read some of the user manual, sorry very bored! It says if you try to pull away with the EPB still engaged you get a warning on the display epb still engaged? As i have been having issues with the epb not releasing intermittantly, icould not recall this warning. I tried it today and failed to get a warning is this a fault or just more dodgy bumph in the manual. All i got was a smelly clutch(glad i spelt that right!) Also the rug rats have just got an ipod shuffle and i notice in the glove box the aux socket
  8. I know you are after 2.0tdci miles till empty, but i thought you would like to know my 1.8ghia petrol cmax reads 362 miles till empty so your diesel aint good, and i thought mine was poor!!!! I feel so much better.
  9. The jettas not a polo with a boot but a golf with a boot. I had one many years ago when my hair wasnt grey, until some cowboy builder with a dodgy load dropped a wheelbarrow on the dual carriage way and wrote of the car!!! I'd still have my cmax with the niggles. It cost a fortune to service.
  10. I read on the forum that if you press and hold the reset button and turn on the ignition you can get some useful codes. I must have done something wrong? The first part seemed ok giving gauge sweep and all the gauges did a full sweep, it then did led tests etc. O ne of the tests confused me as it said engine temp 137c i presume as i had just driven the car 50 miles that this would be the current temp, however the gauge only indicated its usually 90c ish (mid way position.) is this a fault or normal. Can anyone help. The car still has an intermittant misfire that disappeared in a recent cold sp
  11. Contacted customer relations as misfire is worse now. They wont do anything until the car has been to a dealers again even though they cant find a fault!!! So booked in a week on friday at yet another dealers. I'll keep you all posted if it works!!!!
  12. :( From new my cmax had an intermittant misfire which I know is difficult for dealers to find but it died last week(4 months old) and had to get the RAC to help.(NOT) They told me it was a coil pack playing up but dont carry spares. Limped the car to the dealer and they replaced but I still get an intermittant misfire, normally after driving on the motorway and coming off back to urban driving. Does any one have a solution(mastertech)? Apart from this problem and lowish mpg the car is fantastic even the heated seats that make you feel as if youve suffered incontinence. Look forward to some he
  13. Hi, LIke many others my clutch stinks but no smoke. Normally happens when the electronic handbrake fails to release and you try to pull off. Ford say it is the composition of the modern clutch, my last car on an )" plate never did this. My understaning is that the clutch is being ridden, however is this not just the biting point, for it to burn and smell it must be slipping and faulty. It is nothing to do with bad driving habits just a poor car and poor after sales service. Come on Ford , pull your head out the sand and start fixing the problems, other wise whizzpopper and others will gain new
  14. Its not only the diesel with poor mpg, my 1.8 petrol ghia is terrible. It was giving on 24/25 mpg on all conditions of driving. Had the ECU updated and improved to 30mpg but still * * * * compared to the advertised figures. Anyway back in the garage today because the intermittant misfire is now permanent and the car wont go above 30mph!!!! At least the computer will find an error code this time!!! or i'm a liar again!! I agree it is about time Ford took a more customer focused stanced and rectified these problems properly and without fobbing us off with " the computer says NOOOO"!!
  15. Thanks to everyone who recommended the engine management upgrade. I took the car to a new dealer on Friday and they upgraded all the softwares and fitted the outstanding recalls. As you all said my fuel is now averaging 31mpg and goes like **** off a shovel!!!. If only My original FORD dealer had been so good all my troubles would not have happened. If you havent had it done yet, do it today!!! Off now to wheel spin since it will now!! Thanks again all.
