  1. Basic Hands Free = Wiring and Aerial for car phone. This ends in a standard connector by the handbrake. You then buy a phone specific cradle from your dealer which plugs into this. This gives you standard car kit functionality (muting stereo, playing sound through speakers and charging phone etc. Bluetooth Advanced = Bluetooth Kit & Voice Control without the wiring and aerial for a phone cradle. Any phone with bluetooth can be connected to this kit enabling basic phone functions such as dialing/receiving calls. There is no physical connection so no need to remove your phone from your p
  2. Sorry to hear that butch. Do you know what the difference was between the door rubbers they put on and the ones they removed?
  3. Used the dry lube now and the creaking has completely gone. Ok this may be a temp fix but it works for me.
  4. Aaahh that will be it then. You do get global closing as part of the keyless entry pack but I didn't know it was possible on the 3dr. At least we now know that global closing is definitely available on the 3dr. Hopefully you can opt for it without the keyless entry too.....as that is a bit of a gimic (IMHO).
  5. Aye the A3 may be better built than a Ford (or VW for that matter) but dynamically it is inferior to both.....and for the money you have to spend on a similar spec'd vehicle it should be better than any hot hatch.
  6. Perhaps this is just a euro left hand spec thing. Wasco do you have keyless entry too?
  7. I raised this on my Ford questionnaire. I was very * * * * off with the fact that in every dealer I visited about the ST not one had a salesman that knew much about what they were selling. Yes they knew the basics.....but these people should know everything as it is their business. I suppose it is no worse than visiting Comet, PC World, Currys and the like and expecting them to know about their products......just the world we live in these days
  8. Exactly that.....for reading maps. The light is very directional and does not reflect too much on the windscreen so that the passenger can read a map whilst the driver continues driving. Having said that, maps are so last year. Get yourself satnav !! :D
  9. Thanks for info mjd but this creaking is definitely coming from the door (just the drivers door for me but some have it on all doors).
  10. You can't get global closing in the uk either for 3dr vehicles (not even as an option). The ST doesn't have global closing as standard either although you can add it as an option on the 5dr version only. 3dr cars only have one touch down on the drivers door (as no possibility of finger trapping there).
  11. I had another look at my car and noticed that the top of the door is a plastic cover and it is this that connects to the chassis (door) sealing rubber. If I shut the door and push/move this part of the door I get the type of creaking that I am experiencing during low speed high bumpy road driving. Perhaps it is not the rubber against the paintwork and instead it is the rubber against this plastic cover? Either way, anything that prevents friction should resolve the problem....temporarily at least. Hopefully it will also reduce the static.
  12. I spoke to my dealer yesterday and they confirmed that they were unaware of this problem and had not had any communication from Ford notifiying them of this or the fact that new seals exist. Also as the Focus C-Max similar problem was some time ago you would think that the newer designed rubbers (if these exists) were now on the latest build cars anyway. I wonder if this problem is being caused by cleaning products being used on the seal rubbers are making them more grippy and as such creaking when compressed under door closure? My car only started having this problem after my car was washe
  13. Any further news on this? My ST now exhibits this problem and I am not the only one. It only occurs when the drivers window is fully up, it is dry weather (and has been for a day or so) and I am driving over un-even surfaces at low speads (causing maximum chassis flex). On my car the creaking seems to be isolated to the top half of the door. This is being discussed on other forums and apparently a tin of dry lube such as the following should do the trick....although not sure if this is a temporary fix. http://www.edirectory.co.uk/pf/pages/mo ... ml&cid=880 Does anyone know if this
  14. I thought that all cars come with two keys (not sure about the studio). You normally get one manual and one remote. The ST comes with two flip keys and no manual key. Not sure about ECU updates although there have been issues raised about the diesel engine and suggest you run a separate search or head over to the technical threads.
  15. Aye global closing is when you press and hold the lock button and all door locks, windows and sunroof (if fitted) are electrically closed. It is an extension of the remote central locking. As part of this functionality, all windows will be electric and have a one touch up and down function (button clicks twice if you press it firmly and window will rise or fall completely without having to hold the button for the duration of the movement).
  16. Errr....but that is global closing. What happens if you press and hold open for 3secs? I am guessing all the windows will open too. Do all your electric window buttons have one touch up and down?
  17. The Ghia with submarine lighting is a miss build. Probably had none of the normal ones to hand. I wouldn't complain though....unless you don't like the red ;)
  18. My dealer has just got them in for Sea Grey. The FINIS code is 1374861 and is priced at £7.18 (inc vat). The only colour car you will struggle to get a touch up kit for is the ST Electric Orange.
  19. I have a couple of questions for both of you: 1) Do you both have UK spec cars? (ok so Villain lives in ireland but do you have UK/EU spec cars) 2) Do both of you have one touch up and down buttons for both passenger and drivers windows or do you just have one touch down on the drivers side? To activate the auto windows you just press and hold the open or close button on your remote and it will open/close windows automatically.....if you have global closing that is.
  20. What vehicles will this work on? I thought only the Ghia and Titanium 5dr and ST 5dr with global closing option had this functionality. I assume for global closing to be available on a car then all windows should have one touch up and down window buttons? So if the car only has a one touch down drivers window then this feature is not available?
  21. Just us UK spec owners that are lacking then.... :|
  22. Fit it yourself for free and hopefully it will just work. If not and the unit comes up with this config error then your dealer will only need to plug in their diag machine to sort out the CAN. They should not charge you any more than the minimum labour rate as the task shouldn't take more than 15-30mins to complete......unless they are going to try and rip you off.
  23. Thanks Phil, I had a look at something similar in B&Q but I think this is a little on the tough side for this application and a bit too perfectly round. It needs to be very squidgy to sqeeze through the narrow gap. I would say a rubber equivalent to the type of rubber found on the door seals would be the sort of thing that may work. The closest I could find to something that may work is the rubber draft excluder seals that DIY stores sell. Only problem is that these are sticky backed and only seem to come in brown.
  24. I am only going on the fact that I installed a Sony MP3 head unit into a pals mk2 Focus a few months back. They bought it from a Ford dealer and it came boxed up so I can only assume it was a virgin unit rather than pre-installed.....but not 100% It went in first time without any probs and certainly no configuration message that you mention...even though he only had 4 speakers instead of 8. Re the VIN number I did not enter this on the above unit but just assumed it was the same as my DVDSatNav system. This cannot be manually entered / changed and must be set up on the WDS so just assumed
