  1. I'd like the D2 rims. A shame they don't do a plain 5 spoke (flat faced all the way to the edge of the rim). I've always been a fan of the 5-spokers, something similar to the Wofrace Asiatec Katana (but not in horrible shadow chrome!)...now, if they did something like that in 18"....well, I'd be dipping into my bank account if they were a reasonable price!
  2. Anyone else? No? Must be just my car then! :|
  3. I don't have the cover on my '05 1.6 TDCi but to be honest I'm not fussed either way. :)
  4. After a drive to the NEC and back today I noticed that when the car was stationary with the engine running it sounded a bit 'rattly'. Upon whipping the bonnet open it appears that the induction pipework is rattling off the heat shield. If that's the case then it's not as bad as I feared at first! Is this a common thing or not?
  5. LX for me I'm afraid. When it's used as a means to carry out your job it doesn't matter about the spec. If it'd been for my own personal use I'd more than likely have ended up waiting for an ST3. 8)
  6. Jesus!! That's one mean looking kit....just needs a spoiler to match it....I'm surprised that I actually quite like it too.... :)
  7. I was considering a set of the 17" 5-spoke alloys but having asked the dealer about them it turned out that it would cost me just under £1,000.....My advice is to keep an eye on ebay if you must have original Ford alloys, or if you're not too fussed about it try www.rochfordtyres.co.uk as they've always been cheap when I've used them before. :)
  8. Hi Widster, over the last 5 weeks or so of owning a mkII 1.6 TDCi I've been tracking my mpg religiously! I'm averaging 51mpg which is a mixture of town and motorway driving. I drive sensibly, rarely going over 2k on the rev counter unless I'm on the motorway or a national speedlimit road, which may sound boring, but I'm more interested in getting a good mpg return than getting to my destination a couple of minutes quicker! It's got plenty of grunt low down, enough so as not to be holding people up at least!
  9. I've had my 110PS mkII 1.6 TDCi for a month or so now and can't get over how impressed I am with it. It feels solid, everything still works fine and it's nippy enough for town driving (which is 90% of my driving). I'm also averaging mid 50's on fuel consumption which I can't complain about! :) I'd say you got a great deal on it at £9,600 with only 9,500 miles on it, I bought mine for £9,995 with 15,000 miles on it from a Ford dealer and thought I'd got mine cheap - it was the cheapest 'dealer' car on Autotrader when I got mine, so you've hit the jackpot I'd say! :D
  10. Having just looked it up again ('cos I forgot what it was!) the DPF is a particle filter fitted to help with emmisions. Apparently there's a possibility it may need changing around 60k depending on how you drive. It's pretty expensive to replace by all accounts. :?
  11. I expect I'll be keeping it for at least 4 or 5 years. I've not looked up the cost of the DPF change but I expect I'll keep it. :) Edit - Having just looked up the cost of the replacement DPF I'm re-considering! Am I right in thinking that a service + DPF replacement will cost around £1,000?! If so, then I expect I'll be selling! :(
  12. Hi John, I recently bought an '05 reg 1.6TDCi LX 5 door model (110ps) and have to admit I'm very impressed with it. It's a nippy car once the turbo starts up, which is pretty quickly! I'm averaging mid 50's in mpg and the worst I've managed was 51mpg which is pretty good in any case! I'd not had a diesel before this, but I'm not going back to unleaded now! :)
  13. Yeah, ideally I'd like the display to show mpg, outside temp etc, but those other things are handy too. :)
  14. I daren't Tony! If there's any other willing volunteers I'd be interested to hear the results though!
  15. I've been working out my MPG since I got the car, over 8 tankfulls so far I've averaged slightly over 51mpg, which isn't too bad since the manufacturers figure is 58mpg and I've done a fair bit of urban driving. :) BTW, It's a mk2 1.6 TDCi LX. :)
