  1. My experience of the 1.6 petrol engine is that it needs to be worked hard to get any sort of performance out of it. Sometimes it can sound i little thrashed when you push it but you need to keep the revs up. At motorway speeds it pulls well in 5th gear for overtaking but again the engine can sound a little strained. I've just picked up my 2.0 litre tdci which has 136 ps and the whole acceleration thing is totally effortless. At 40 mph in 6th gear It's doing just over 1000 rpms. Use a decent fuel in the 1.6 and it'll perform better, i'm sure when you get your new car it'll feel very tight and s
  2. A 2005 mk 2 i used to have experienced power steering failure twice because the unions between the rubber hoses and metal pipes were weak and would rupture. My car lost the power steering fluid almost all at once leaving the car imobile. Luckily mine was replaced under warranty and the whole system was replaced. My 2008 focus had redesigned unions which seemed fine but i did have it checked regularly to check for any signs of wear. It could be an expensive repair though.
  3. You're right. it is just a body kit bigger wheels and aluminium pedals but it does look nice. Mines also got the sport pack so the wheels are 18 inches, it has privacy glass and i think the spoiler is different. It looks different to the ST spoiler i've got on my current car anyway. It's also got the connectivity pack on it too. So it's fairly well equipped.
  4. Well after a lot of stress over the last ten days I am finally swapping my car tomorrow. Who would've thought ten weeks ago when I ordered a 1.6 tdci zetec that I would end up with a 2.0 tdci zetec s. I've been removing all my bits and bobs out of my car and have also taken out my Sony head unit. I've got to say the original cd 6000 looks kinda boring. My new car has got the Sony 6 disc version, I'm hoping it's more reliable than the old square fronted 6 disc unit i had in my 2005 Focus. I might save my current head unit just in case, i've had a quick look on ebay and they don't seem to go f
  5. Hi Craig, are you selling your Sony head unit? Think i'll have a look on ebay and see how much the Sony head units are going for and maybe put mine on.
  6. This might sound silly but did you have your handbrake on tight? Mine creaks if the handbrake's on just tight enough to hold the car still but still has a little travel left.
  7. the connector block that goes into the back of the stereo has a clip, mine was white but yours might be a different colour. It hinges upwards and releases the connector slightly then you can pull it out.
  8. When I get my hands on the keys on wedenesday i'll be totally happy. It's been such a long saga I'm wondering if there's more problems to come. My insurance is gonna go up £125 a year but i should save about £25 a week on fuel, I currently spend about £80 pounds a week. For a driving school car it'll certainly be an eye catcher, I'll have a queue of potential boy racers wanting lessons. :)
  9. Hiya craig, the main plug is held with a white latch that you need to flick up before you can pull it out. I'll be doing the same with my car shortly taking my Sony head unit out and putting the old cd6000 back. Mine's the oval shaped head unit though so no keys. I have to prize the silver surround off instead which can be tricky.
  10. Well Monday was an interesting day and i had a long chat with dealer principal. I found out that it was their mistake and the car was ordered without the options i had specified. He appologized to me about the ordering kangaroo up and also the shoody way i had been treated by his sales team, before the car arrived and after the kangaroo up was discovered. So then it was a case of "what can we do to make you happy?" and the search for another car began. They started off offering me zetecs with sports packs but i didn't like the colours, then a zetec S 1.8 petrol, but I didn't want a petrol. T
  11. Hi all, I got a call from Evans Halshaw today sayng they've found another colorado red 3 door focus with bluetooth but no privacy glass. It's in belgium waiting to be shipped and I could have it in between one and three weeks. Otherwise it'll be october before I could get another straight from the factory. Apparently there are no other three focii with a 1.6 tdci engine in this country in any colour :?: I'm going in tomorrow afternoon to see the dealer principal to either tell them to stick it where the sun doesn't shine or if i have to go for second best i want a good discount. I don't wan
  12. Well after waiting for 8 weeks for my new 1.6 tdci zetec I went to look at it today ready to collect it on thursday only to find that the car has turned up without the options i'd chosen and assumed i'd been waiting 8 weeks for. The sales manager said "we'll tint the windows for you and fit a parrot kit for you" which didn't go down well. So i've told them they either find me another one with the options i want in this country or the deal is off! They've tried telling me that it's a mis build at the factory but i don't believe them. Apparently two colorado red focus's arrived at the same t
  13. I had some of those in my old focus and didn't notice any difference. I was a bit dissapointed because they're not cheap compared to a standard replacement bulb. I will get some pictures of my car up as soon as i get a look at it. I've asked the dealer to let me know as soon as it gets there. I hope those scouse persons in liverpool are being careful with it. When i looked in the brochure i thought the Titanium came with the privacy glass and blue tooth as standard. Both options for mine were £300 which i thought was reasonable.
  14. Oh yeah and my head light bulbs are called all weather and can be bought from ebay, although one of mine popped really quickly so i got a replacement from halfrauds which was expensive as you might expect but it's lasted much longer up to now. If you go in halfrauds and look at the bulbs there are loads, (you may have to fight your way through a load of chavs looking for something to make their citroen saxos look slightly less crap) but these are in a turquoise box and the glass part of the bulb is a really unusual colour. And then go on the internet and find some cheaper ones. I did f
  15. Hello again craig, No there is no rewiring neccesary for the led side lights, they just go straight into the normal bulb holders. they have to go in a certain way though or they wont work. So if you put the connector on the back of the bulb and it wont work just turn it around and that should do the trick. Also thay aren't quite as bright in real life as they are in my picture so you wont be dazzling any on coming traffic but they are a nice crisp blue white colour. My new mk2.5 is a 1.6 tdci zetec 3door in colorado red with privacy glass and blue tooth hands free and voice control, which yo
  16. Hello Craig, I'm waiting for my mk 2.5 to arrive (i've already been waiting seven weeks!) I'll be changing all my bulbs too, i've already got led side light bulbs which i've had in my current focus for more than a year and never had any unwanted attention. If the bulb types are all the same the main beam is H1, dipped beam is H7 and the fog lights are H8. I bought a set front Ace autobulbs on ebay. The main beam and fog light bulb glass are blue and make a nice blue/white light. The led sidelights are also slightly blue. My dipped beam bulbs have an opelescent look to the glass and cast a spec
  17. Hello everyone. Anticipating the arrival of my new car i'm looking into getting a new mobile phone so i can make full use of the bluetooth option i'm having to wait so long for. I've been on Fords website and had a look at compatable handsets (mine isn't on the list) but there don't seem to be that many, and many of them are very out of date. So I just wanted to know what handsets some of you all use if you have the bluetooth handsfree option on your cars? I can imagine going into my local Ford dealer and them not having a clue what i'm talking about, and the same if I got in touch with V
  18. Here's a picture of my tinted windows. I think the guy said this was 40% but i might be wrong. I know the next darker shade was called limo black and was very dark.
  19. Hi all, I've had a really crap week. On wednesday I was involved in a rear end shunt which in hindsight I came away from with very little damage considering the other two cars were writen off. With my insurance company i'd arranged to get the car in to the bodyshop and have the back bumper replaced. An inconvenience but not a huge problem. Then on thursday I went into the dealers where i've ordered my new car and was told an order has had to go to the factory and it'll be six weeks before i get it. A bit annoying but at least i know it wont be sat in a field somewhere full of bird poo. A
  20. That's very kind of you but since my last post i've managed to get a drive in one at the dealers. I was also very impressed with it. the demo car only had a couple of hundred miles on the clock so it was still very tight but was very nice to drive and very quiet. I've got a six week wait for my new one which is a bit annoying but i've had two rear end shunts in the last four days so the back end of my current focus isn't looking too got, so it'll give the bodyshop time to get it back together again. Thanks again for the offer, and if you see a bright Red Focus around Hull with a driving scho
  21. How much is he charging you? I had mine done a couple of months back and it cost me £150 well worth it though cuz it looks excellent. £125 option on my new Focus due in six weeks.
  22. And they're riveted in so you'll have to drill them out first. That put me off.
  23. Hi all, I've decided to swap my 2008 1.6 petrol 3 door zetec for a 1.6 tdci 3 door zetec. The consumption and performance figures for the car look impressive and the £35 a year road tax is good, but unfortunately the dealer only had a 2.0 litre for me to test drive which was very responsive and also very smooth compared to diesels i've driven in the past. So could any of you 1.6 tdci owners let me know what you think of the engine and how it behaves. Also i've picked the bluetooth handsfree and voice control option which is piped through the standard CD 6000 head unit, I was planning to rem
  24. I just get my pupils to point out the filler cap and to say to the examiner that a warning comes up on the dash when it needs filling. Even though it doesn't on my 2008 car, and it did on my 2005 car. :?
