  1. Justice - I've just been informed that WhatCars long term test car has the reg ED53 FPY. Is this another Ford special?
  2. Good stuff Justice :) Sounds like they're pulling out all the stops at last :) Look forward to hearing the outcome of all this. Have they said they will sort all the other problems you were having before the accident, before the car is returned to you?
  3. Hi Craig, Glad to hear you have some progress towards a satisfactory conclusion :) Got my fingers crossed for you. I'm fingers crossed picking my motor up Friday parts delivery permitting, so with a bit of luck there may be some happy owner postings I hope. Sounds like you got lucky with the courtesy car. I'm currently playing at gokart racing in a Ford Ka, lol  Must go round them roundabouts faster, neeeeeowwwwn  I will miss the little Ka when it goes as its fun to drive :( My car FWIW is getting new console cluster, recalibration (again), warped door seals sorted, radio cloc
  4. Hi Doug, Welcome to the forum. I don't know if this is correct but I think the Stage III/IV is for some kind of emmisions rating that is applicable to company car tax. The Stage IV would save you money over the Stage III if you were paying company car tax for the vehicle. Look forward to hearing your input when you get your car :) When have you been promised delivery? Will be very interested to see if you have the missing/stutter at 1500-2000 rpm. Quite a few people are afflicted with this so will be interesting to see if your newer vehicle has this problem and i'm sure disney_cjd would li
  5. After you describing the colour sounding like a pearlescent they've probably dropped it on cost grounds :( Cheers for the opinion on the petrol :) Funny thing today driving round in a i think 900cc yeah? Ford Ka, flooring it everywhere I didnt feel frustrated at all kind of enjoyed it. Nice to be able to push the car and not worry that your going to be speeding way over the limit and sticking to the raoad like a limpet :D I did notice that the 1.6 & 1.8 petrol's are a LOT lighter and make me wonder if they will be a lot more nimble than the heavy front ended 2.0 TDCi? Just out of interest
  6. Sounds to me like a dealer excusing themselves for putting your motor on the back burner while satisfying more lucrative work. Have you had a word with FCRC about this?
  7. Seems strange them giving up on the Vitro :( Maybe it had something to do with them offering more shades of silver and grey than i'd had hot dinners  I just went into the dealer and looks like Friday is a possibility (not definate) for me to get my car back. In the meantime having a blast in this little Ford Ka 8) The garage have said they're going to sort me out a Hire Car for me to have a play in for the day when I pick up the CMax. That is assuming the car is still not totally fixed. The Hertz ownership probably explains the vast amount of nearly new cars about with only a few thousa
  8. wizbongre - There is a workaround for the brakes. You start reversing and then quickly put it into first and juggle the clutch to give you some breaking with the gearbox  Not ideal but works for me and hides the embarrasment of squealy new car
  9. Sounds good. Should be very similar to the 2.0 TDCi I hope :) Lose out in the mpg but gain in cheaper initial cost. Oh well, swings and roundabouts. Got to go in tomorrow to get an update on how things are going so should have some more news soon hopefully :) Must get some kip, these late nights not good. Laters, CHris
  10. wizbongre - I don't think the problem is the same as with the ST. From what I have been able to learn about this problem from people working in the motorvehicle dev' industry the CMax's problem like mine is thought to be a hardware problem in that the PCM in the earlier 2.0 TDCi's is unable to handle certain combinations of load of data from the fly by wire accelerator and so resets itself to rid itself of the data it cannot handle and starts again, and this is why it feels like the engine is cutting out for a few tenths of a second. It is thought that the manufacturer is trying to fix this by
  11. Hi Mick, Have you tried removing the boot carpet and putting the anti slip mat in its place? I was thinking of getting this if I get another CMax but if it slides around then the only other option would be the rigid boot liner, but then I cannot slide the seats back :( Does your rubber mat have any large plastic screws with a large thread but short and with a very large flat head? You just reminded me that my dad bought one of these mats for the boot of his Passat. In the packet it came in was these screws i've just described. I reckon your supposed to make a small hole in both the mat and t
  12. Hi Justice, Sorry to hear you still waiting for things to be sorted :( I'm surprised about the delay with the panels as I just got told today by my garage that my car needs a new console cluster as its faulty and they said they would have it within 24 hours! No worries though as i'm quite enjoying driving around in the little Ford Ka courtesy car. I could handle one of these for a toy :D Keep up the pressure m8, i'm sure they can spare some panels if they can spare a console cluster for me. Things are certainly more pleasent now I try to make most of the dealings direct with FCRC and keep de
  13. Justice, Thanks for the info. It confirms what I feared :( I guess the only way to get round this kind of journalistic behaviour is to do the testing yourself. I don't know how much it would cost, but I think it would be money well spent hiring a car for a week before commiting to buying in retrospect. Hows your motor going m8? Any news? Chris
  14. Hi Craig, A bump for you hopefully get some interest from new CMax owners to post their experiences in here. Come on guys, don't be shy. We won't bite
  15. TopScal - Nice motors m8. Shame your not 100% happy with the ST as its a classy looking motor. V6 roar - hmmmmmm 8) A bit out of my league im afraid :( Another twist in my saga - Just been told that Ford do a CMax with the Duratec 2 litre petrol engine from the Mondeo. News to me. Lol, i may end up remaining a CMax owner after all!
  16. Hi Chargerate, Those faults look vaguely familiar ;) Its about time Ford started showing those adverts again about the CMax bragging about the superior build quality  I hope they don't or there may be a few people on this forum throwing things at their TV
  17. Hi Ian, Sounds like you have been told a porky m8 by your dealer. I know when I bought my car in February the dealers round me were falling over themselves to sell 03 CMax's. Makes me wonder if this is indeed what I have also. This is the engine management system causing your engine to stutter or miss and is a fault. Have you asked your dealer what they are going to do about it? Chris
  18. What motor did you have in the Mondy Topscal? From your last post it sounds like it was your best experience of a Ford car.
  19. TopScAL - Yummeeee :D Shame, as I cannot afford one :( Look forward to seeing some piccys of it when it arrives. Are you not tempted to go for a more proven engine platform considering the problems the newest platforms seem to be having and the slowness of Ford to fix them?
  20. Its a bit if a beggar when you have to pay I know, but at least you will be able to get a newer car that should have some if not all the problems you currently have ironed out in production perhaps? May be worth popping a thread up asking recent new owners what problems their having? Do keep us informed on how you get on. Chris
  21. Hi Craig, What outstanding faults do you still have with your car? FCRC told me that if you have a fault and it gets 3 attempts by a dealer to fix it and it still remains unresolved then you are able to approach your dealer and ask for a replacement vehicle under the "Ford Commitment" scheme. Maybe this would be easier for you than going the legal avenue?
  22. blueboy2001 - Hope your m8's SCi gets sorted. You have a valid point about the TDCI in the Mondeo being sold in great numbers and so should be very well sorted by now. This is what worries me about the SCi. I think another phonecall to Ford Technical might be in order and then have a long hard think about things before pursuing further. The Turbo Diesel Fiesta I learnt to drive in and my old mans PD130 Passat are the only cars i've driven bar a brief encounter with a 2 litre petrol Rover 400. By now I feel I have grasped how you need to not only drive the diesel engines power delivery but also
  23. TopScAL - Your teasing me  Nice car but looking at the Modeo Diesel reports on reliablility the petrol seems to have the edge on reliability so I think i'll give the TDCi a miss. Also when I spoke to FCRC they told me that the Mondy TDCi motors had had the flat spot problem too but they had already released a fix for that. I thought, yeah, right  Not even going to attempt going near that again. My mind is made, nothing short of Chinese water torture or a bad test drive will sway me now. 1.8 SCi Mondy it hopefully will be. Here's hoping some sweet niggle free driivng is not far away
  24. Hehe, you sound like your in charge when you drive  Me, I get sarky comments when I do that so try to drive like a chauffeur would drive his client. :? Those 18"ers are nice but the 16"ers are so much kinder on the wallet with tyre prices and less nickable. That and the coutry roads I have around here 16" wheels give a much better ride. I will keep telling myself that the outside look is for everyone else while i'm driving, and if they want it to look nice they can pay for it  Can't beat a bit of self delusion to justify your actions  Just drove back from Harrogate in t
  25. Hi Craig, Its true :( I think we can blame the government legislation for this. I was looking over the Trading Standards Web Site and it says there that with any product, not just cars, it is the supplying retailer that is legally responsible. We all know what some dealerships can be like  Makes me wonder if big corporations gerrymandered that legislation in their interests to make it a little more difficult for us consumers to pursue them.
